FURTHER

Very nice bass...One of the last of the four-bolts then. GLWTS
3. 1976, before the heavyweight period - basically 75 spec. Proper P Bass thump. Grey bottom pick-ups.
4. For reference here's a WD on my Sea Foam Green 65 Precision...
5. The Fender ones aren't too bad. Better than most digitally printed ones. They are expensive though, twice the price of the Stentor and look pretty similar from that pic.
6. I've got some of all of these - real ones, WD, Fender reissue tort and some odd bad printed ones. The real ones still look best to me, but WD is the best of the bunch after that. Can't speak on Spitfire as I haven't got one yet - although I have one on order - not a cheap option though.
7. Also late to this, but in case anyone else needs the same information... Taking the neck off is not always necessary. Get a Cruz-Tools Cheater Driver - I generally don't have to remove the neck on a vintage Fender bass for adjustments. It's a long driver so gives a good torque. Also it won't damage the truss rod nut.
8. Black and rosewood. Looks great. PM with any questions. Thanks...
9.
I messaged the seller when he first listed it months ago, for £3600. I was concerned at the neck pocket, it should be a lot darker, full of black paint, and look at the lack of black on the front if the upper horn, its a bit lacking? He replied saying he didnt know if it had been repainted? No mention of that in the relisting though? Hmmmm....
The photos aren't clear enough to inspect properly. Something doesn't look right about that paint to me though.
No, 1963 pickups were not dated at all. They should have black bobbins and maroon coloured coil wires. Solderings should be untouched. The black covers should have a more satin surface instead of a glossy one. GLWTS
Quite right, I had confused this bass for a 65 when I said that - well spotted!
11. Why not pop over and check out the origonolity! Can't imagine it selling at that start price - but you never know!
12. Origonal Finish? Perhaps...but original? http://www.ebay.co.u...E:B:WNA:GB:1653
13. Jono bought a set of Schaller tuners from me. Paid straight away and was great to deal with throughout. Top bloke. Thanks Jono.

Pick up dates would be on the bottom of the pick up - assuming they remembered to date them! Maybe a pic if possible and of the case? Cheers...

Lovely looking bass. Does it have the original case? Any pickup dates? Also any body routs at all? Thanks...

17. Final Price dropped to £1200 If it doesn't sell at this price it will become parts! I have for sale this Fender 1976 Precision Bass in a Black nitro refin. This bass plays great and looks great. Some time in the past the owner had a Jazz pickup and an extra pot fitted in the control cavity. Both of these routs have now been professionally restored, and the body has been refinished in black. The routs are very well done and not at all obvious to the eye (see third picture from top). One of the pickups has been replaced with a 1974 (on inspection of the date code) the other is the original 1976. This is a great player's bass and I've priced it in accordance to the changes. All other parts original 1976 and correct. Neck: 1976 - a few bits of lacquer wear on the back (shown in photos) otherwise fine. Pots: 1975 (both). Normal for a 76 Bass. Pickups: One 1976, one 1974 both original Fender. Body: 1976 - refin in black, routs professionally repaired. Bridge, knobs, string tree, tuners and strap buttons: Correct Guard: Replaced with an original 1976 Black guard (original guard to this bass had extra hole for pot). Very end of guard near jack socket broken off. Quite a common thing with these old pickguards. Serial number: 647*** Hiscox case included. A good old Fender Precision with a few changes but plenty of mojo. 18. Withdrawn. Sold Pending
19. These are fabulous basses, as said previously much underrated. Classic P sound and playable all over the neck. I'm not buying, but I just got one of these for a young bass student. I was again surprised how it holds itself against a range of very expensive vintage Fender Precisions. Have a bump on me...
20. Hi, thanks. The pickups are both 1972.
21. This is great to see...non-buyers stopping by with good info for the seller. It's easy to muddle up photos these days. Good result everyone - these are great basses. Mine's a 79. Someone's going to get a great bass here - good luck!
