NBD!

It's the twin of mine - stunning bass.
2. Squier do a "P Bass Special" which has a Jazz Neck and both pickups.
3.
Having been a baggage handler I would totally agree. Things are not treated gently at all.
So have I Pete, but in my experience things are not half as bad now as they used to be. I shudder to think at some of the things I have seen out on the ramp (musical instrument + concrete = mess). I still get to see what goes on from time to time, and most things (especially instrument cases - or do I just notice those more??) get treated with a degree of respect. Of course if you are pushing flights out in the 7am rush things are bound to go wrong sometimes, but it is a long time since I have seen the baggage trolley going out leaving a trail of bags behind .
4. The range of musicians will be from the sublime to the ridiculous, but go along, put your bass in the car, and at least go and watch what happens. If you find there is no other bass player there make yourself known, you may be on all night. If there is another bass player, ask if you can do a couple of numbers and suggest something you know well, chances are the other muso's will know it. Most of all, no-one will judge you, go and enjoy it. Steve
5. Back in late 60s Oscar Peterson had a show on Saturdays on BBC2 IIRC. Just a half hour thing, but even then at 15 or so I was smitten.
6. The local music shop in Loughborough will supply and fit single strings.
7. Lots of arrangements changing from now to Christmas, but if I am free I'll be there.
8. Anything by the late great Oscar Peterson
9.
Maybe I'm missing something skywalker but isn't that the same as adjusting the pan control on the computer either hard left or hard right? in the case of the Ralph Patt files you would get either bass with drums no piano or just piano. Cheers R.
I guess so, but to the technically braindead like me pulling out the lead works equally well.
10. Use a stereo lead from a computer to the input on your amp, then pull out the Bass side. Play any track you like from Spotify or somewhere, and play the bass over it. Simples
11. I should be up for this, and besides the thread needs a bump.
12. If you want something to try out, I have a P copy, unlined, you are welcome to take it for a try out, and I am only in Kegworth, a half hour or so away, I can bring it over.
13. Sounds like the threads on the bridge saddles are worn out. New bridge saddles or better still a Badass should fix it. Steve
14. My CVJ is a stunner, no noticeable difference from the USA Standard Jazz I had before.
15. Never seen that before, a sort of accurate version of Chordie. Cheers Steve
16. Thanks for the info all - I will take a noodle at this and see how it works.
17. Hi All Can anyone help me please with the chords for the intro and sax solo in Baker Street?? Help as always is much appreciated Steve
18. I had a 2005 American Standard and now I have a 2009 CV, to my cloth ears there is no discernable difference.
19. You could always learn to play an upright.
20. Hi All I have a US Standard Precision serial number Z0287990, which I think makes it a 2000 model, bought from another BCer earlier this year. In Natural with a Rosewood Board, beautiful condition, with a couple of tiny marks which will not even show up on a photograph. It has had a recent setup and plays beautifully. The scratchplate is a Fender original and is new, and there is a black one also included. The bass is fitted with Schaller straplocks. It comes with a hardcase. I am looking for £550.00, and can deliver within 100 miles or so of Derby. Unfotunately I am not looking for a trade for this, as I am a Jazz fan. Thanks for looking - make a nice Chrimbo prezzy for someone. Steve
21. I have a P copy that I put a fretless neck and flats on, sounds okay and plays well. If I had known before the weekend I could have dropped it off at my son's at Crawley for you to pickup. If you are interested I can probably get it down there in a couple of weeks, and if you try it and like it you can make me an offer, I only want to cover the cost of the neck and strings. Steve
22.
Girlfriend lives in Nottingham I live in Peterborough. Would be a bit difficult since I'm currently without transport. I've got a week off in November where I'm hoping to try a fretless out one day.
OK, no prob, I can drop it off in Nottingham if it helps.
23.
I think the Dark side of the Moon is a bit far from me
I am in the Midlands, not far from Derby & Nottingham
24. So long as you are not a long way away, I have a fretless precision copy, not brilliant but it is strung with flats and sounds okay, you can have a loan to try it if you like.
25. Thanks Garry I don't have perfect pitch - but I can tell immediately when something is wrong. This is great. Cheers Steve
