1.
I"ve just been online looking at basses and found a shedload of different colours. What is everyones idea of a nice colour for a bass and is there any colours you would stay away from. Personally i hate the colour black, its boring and looks awful, i also cant stand black or white(brilliant white that is ). My ideal colour would be "wine red" with an antique white pickguard and all maple neck. Be interesting to know what other people think
I can't stand colours, or wood finishes. I find wine red to be the one I hate most, to me it looks so dowdy. For me, fretted basses should be black, fretless should be white. But I'm flexible on that I always use black strings too. I am the complete opposite of you aren't I
 2.
That's no good to anyone in U.K. It's left hand drive!
You're right, the fretless is on the bottom, that's no good!
 3. It appears our Italian cousin I mentioned has joined us today to provide some extra entertainment Two of these on BassChat at one time! I'm out, but I shall watch with great interest! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=62724
 4. Canst thou tell us the weight and nut width perchance?
 5.
Everything with Fender is variable The assumption that wider=harder to play is flawed, there are simply too many other variables (depth & radius being the two most obvious). Bottom line is that you won't know with any bass until you try it. My Ric's neck is 1.8 at the nut but it's a joy to play and, in my hands, easier than my Precision which is 1.625. Chris
Thanks Chris. I appreciate your points.
 6.
It's worth trying a pre-CBS 'C' width neck P Bass if you can though - as they are much slimmer/shallower in profile than the later 'B' necks (if that makes sense?) - nothing like the really fat 'B' necks that you'll find on some late 60's P basses... It really does make them play beautifully - even if you're used to a B or A neck...
Interesting, thank you! I'm pretty much an A man, but B is OK. I have fairly small fingers but do a fair bit of tip joint barres which I find really difficult on anything wider. Had no idea C width was variable!
 7.
Chandler's in Kew
My mate's had his Ricky in Chandlers in Kew for over a month now, no comms from them, just a set up and nut recut was all that he needed. I told him to tell them give him his instrument back and f*** off. He always goes there though, can't be bothered to research properly.
 8.
Hello mate, you are not being a nuisance honestly. The nut width is 1.75" (4.5cm). I hope that helps as well my friend and any more question then please feel to get in touch any time. Take care. Cheers, Matt
Arrgh, of course I sort of knew that would be the case, but one never knows. That nut width is too wide for me. I suppose I need a P with a Jazz neck or a later P with a B width neck. I think my dream of owning a P born in the same year as me is now properly over Sorry to waste your time Matt, but sincere thanks for the info.
 9.
don't forget the RATM tab book and Standing In the Shadows
Hartke came up trumps!
 10.
Hi Nigel, Not a cheeky question at all. I have been reliably informed, by a few separate parties, that the body is the same year as the neck. The neck slots perfectly in and fits like a glove. I hope that helps my friend and take care. Cheers, Matt
Thanks Matt! Appreciated. Finally, would you kindly tell me the nut width please. Thanks agin, sorry to be a nuisance.
 11. Hello Matt, Sorry if this sounds like a cheeky question. Is there a way of telling which year the body was made, since the person who applied the refinish did not bother to mask the neck socket? Also, what's the neck/socket fit like? Thanks mate. Nigel
 12. Looks stealthy! I played a gig last week and the guy in the band before us had one of these. We had a quick chat about it, he loved it and preferred it to the US ones he'd tried. I can honestly say it sounded great.
 13. Clever stuff, the first middle 8/breakdown is really pretty and my favourite part. Cheers.
 14.
A few weeks ago at our gig in Stourbridge there was one p*ssed tw*t who kept falling into the people around him, shouting out ridiculous & incomprehensible heckles and generally being a nonce. After the show I went into the audience (still in full 'Gene Simmons' KISS gear...) to chat to some friends and he fell into me..... bad move... lol! So, I lifted him off his feet by his throat and pinned him roughly (choking) to the wall while giving him an earful of my thoughts on his behaviour! That must have looked hilarious for those around me.... a 6ft 3 bloke in 7" high monster headed boots, lycra, studs and make-up pinning a drunked half way up the wall by my studded fist! Still, he won't do that again.... and I doubt we'll see him again either!!
Great story
 15.
I was once doing this gig, and there was a drunk guy up on the balcony behaving like a pillock. Meanwhile, there's this other drunk guy who is climbing up onto the stage to make trouble. So I grabbed the guy in front of me with my right hand, and threw him up onto the balcony. I aimed him so that his head would hit the head of the guy up on the balcony. Sure enough, both of them instantly knocked out. Didn't miss a note, everyone cheered, went home with 3 hot girlies. Good times. S.P.
17. Send it back, it's got too many strings
 18.
(waits to quickly upload a photo0
Jesus, what's the baud rate of your V34?!
 19.
Cor, that's nice. If I didn't already have a thinline I'd probably have your arm off!
Thanks Wil, she's a beauty, and the build quality and sound is superb. Got a Guitar Buyer Best Buy too, rave review. I need basses though
 20. For sale is my mint condition PRS SE Custom Semi-Hollow guitar in natural that I've had since new. http://www.prsguitars.com/secustomsh/index.html http://www.thomann.de/gb/prs_se_custom_semi_hollow_nt.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bvWY2eozxM The tuners I have uprated to Sperzel lockers. It has superb tone and playability. Very good for rock and blues, but roll the tone off and you got gorgeous jazz tones too. Reviews say it has Gibson ES335 tonal qualities. It sounded wonderful through my old Fender twin. I really don't play guitar much now and I have a nice Tele to record stuff with if I need to. There's not a mark on this and it comes with the original very sturdy PRS gigbag. I can send pics if you want them, but it really does look the same as the stock pics. Looking for £375 Also possible trades for USA or Japan Fender Precision; or a double neck bass or bass/guitar. Pick up in Ealing, West London preferred, but no problem to post. 21. What do we think the original colour was then? White?
 22.
Argh! That price is very tempting for a Fender born the same year as me!
Oh dear, me too. I would love this I think. So tempting, I can't afford it, I would need a loan and probably a new wife
 23.
I'm afraid that I am not in a position to buy this lovely bass. However, I would just like to say that you have restored my faith in basschat. You are indeed a gentleman. All the very best for a successfull conclusion to your sale.
A wonderful sentiment, not that I needed any faith restoring though.
 24. Balls, I've always loved the look of this bass, didn't you used to have it as your avatar? Bugger.
