So what do you reckon the Streamer at the top of this thread is made of?
That's a wenge board mate.
-
I hate wenge fingerboards, I like Warwicks with ebony boards and ovangkol necks. Wenge has to be one of the ugliest woods about. It is also very hard to work with, and the dust is pretty dodgy too.

Just sold my Zoom H2 to Chris. He came round to collect it and we had a great chat for an hour over a cup of char. Totally top man to deal with, an absolute gent. Thanks so much Chris, I hope you make excellent use of it. Cheers, Nigel

When your bass looks better than you do it's time to pack up. Great day tho' and thanks to all.
You look fantastic mate! And you have the personality to carry off that mad ex-test pilot aspect -
I am the proud owner on a Warwick Streamer Jazzman and at some point I would like to get it set up and some work done to it. The Just-A-Nut edge clips that hold the nut in place have snapped off and so I have a new Just-A-Nut III which needs fitting. It looks as though the existing Just-A-Nut mouting is different to the new Just-A-Nut III mounting. Rather than take it to any old local guitar shop to fit, I would sooner take it to a recommended or approve Warwick specialist if one exists. Does ayone know of any good c in or around London/Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire etc?
Take it to the Gallery. They are Warwick Service people and they will do a cracking job. There is no mount on the JAN, just carefully remove the old JAN with a Stanley knife blade as a lever, and sand off any glue residue, then a couple of small drops of superglue on the new one and it should fit perfectly. I have done this a couple of times. There's a guide on the warwick site somewhere on how to fit a new JAN.

Sandbergs - Tell me about them please - Cali JM4 / PM4
xilddx replied to xilddx's topic in Bass Guitars
I am going back to Warwick basses. I tried three Sandys at the Bash and I didn't get on with them really. Nice basses but the necks were not to my taste. -
My gloss black Corvette $$ with an ebony board I sold to Jam for £525. I am unrivalled in twattishness for that. It's a beautiful bass and I am getting another Warwick to replace it. My mint Hohner Jack Bass Custom I'd had from new that I sold on ebay, one bid at £100. %^£^%^*$!

South East Bass Bash No.5, Surrey, Saturday 24th September 2011
xilddx replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
Aye, what a fantastic day! It was lovely to see so many good friends and meet some new acquaintances, and finally meeting Mick The Greek and Grand Wazoo. Lorraine (Mrs Nik) took many photos and was a delight to meet, as of course was Seashell who finally got to play with a real drummer and, I hope, found it great fun and overcame any nervousness. Great pleasure to see Colin and Sarah again! I got to play a few basses and was especially interested in trying some Sandbergs and a Lakland. Neither of which floated my chicken I'm afraid, just not the feel I like, great basses though. Definitely going back to Warwick basses now. The Jam room was so much fun this year, we had some great jams and great fun! Thanks to all who had a go, and special thanks to Paul the Drums who is a diamond and without whom the Jam Room is not possible. Thanks mate! Mucho thanko to everyone who made it such a great day out, cheers! Looking forward to seeing these photographs. Si, lovely to see you too mate, and thank you so much for the fabulous work on Kit's EP, it sounds f***ing incredible! That's no lie -
... any advance on a-bargain-and-a-half ?... Thanks for (above) trade offers, but looking only for a cash-sale.
This is a bargain and seven 8ths! Gosh, a beast of a fretless, not come cross a fretless $$ before now. I had a fretted one and it was an elephant gun of a bass.
None taken stacker. I think what Fender Japan probably thought was to try to make it more appealing to modern players that didn't find the old bridge practical. I don't think that fender japan intended these instruments to be period correct or copies of the vintage fenders. Plus fender japan is well known not have period correct parts on their instruments like decals etc.. Think the best way to put it is to see it like some custom shop fenders that have vintage style vibe to them but with 'improve' modern parts. These instruments are meant to be played in the end of the day.
Well said sir.
I just dont understand why FJ issue Jazzes with these bridges: they are not period correct and, extra sustain or not, they look bloody awful. Not saying your bass is, Cayston, but I'll pass on this. Good luck with the sale.
Mate, let's not derail the guy's sale. But just to say, you are not the intended market, it was never meant to leave Japan. Who cares about period correct? The looks of a BadAss are subjective. FJ issues many other basses which are 'period correct', this is a limited run, a special. FJ actually have the most interesting instruments of any of the Fender companies IMO, and I think the new Fender Pawnshop and BlackFace or whatever they're called is a realisation that not all Fenders need to follow established patterns for the dull and boring westerners who like their Fenders to look the same as 60 years ago. Anyway, let's start a new thread if this is to carry on. Our friend has a cracking Japan Fender Jazz with a matched headstock and a BadAss II. If it's anything like mine was, it will be one of the best playing Jazzes around. Stick a John East J-Retro in and you will be able to kill wild boar with it. Best wishes for the sale, Cayston!
