I've been trying to keep up with the multiple topics in different sections regarding the latest re-launch of the site. The penny has at last dropped for me. I thought that what I needed was a website where I could go to talk about basses. Wrong. It turns out that what I really needed was a website where I could go to talk about Basschat.
I've been trying not to! I really like it, truly, but not having topic page numbers to click is a bitch. EDIT: Just realised I'm talking total sh*te

KIT RICHARDSON - Submission Chords EP Launch - Sunday 9th Oct - The Good Ship in Kilburn High Road Dear, dear friends. It is rare I feel moved to implore you to extract yourselves from the roaring log fire, the deep John Lewis chesterfield and mesmerising crystal tumbler of Scottish single malt whisky on a bleak autumn Sunday .. however, this is one of those times. Kit Richardson is launching her glorious new EP, and the video for the single 'You Look So Good Tonight" (mixed and mastered to perfection by our very own 51m0n). We will be performing a splendid selection of songs at a lovely venue - The Good Ship at Kilburn High Road on Sunday 9th October - with an esteemed supporting cast. We would be absolutely delighted if you could be there, we really would. Nx Kit Richardson - EP Launch + David Goo, Birdeatsbaby and AlicebanD Bands start at 8pm, Kit on stage at 10.15pm £4 Entry (but you get a free download) https://www.facebook...190457934358700 The Good Ship - Kilburn High Road, London NW6 7JR http://www.thegoodship.co.uk/ (it's very close to lots of public transport)

Here's another mint German cracker for £600. Corvette Standards are seriously punchy and can easily keep up with the $$, don't let the Jazz pickups fool you, the active circuit is very powerful, wind up the bass boost on it and it will touch you like a m*****f***er http://basschat.co.uk/topic/150571-2009-corvette-std-active-bubinga/

Cheers Ryan. Jack asked if I'd be interested in a PX for my drum set, I didn't like the look of it at first, but when I played it, the neck blew me away. The harmonics that ring so clear in places where you can't normally play them are quite amazing! I love the neck! But I can't really get on with the body, it's not really my look Never mind, it will go to someone who loves it. Thanks again.

Dear Merton, I may not bother with the Rockbass body, I mean, who'd want it? If anyone does want it let me know and I'll bring it! Cheers, N
Hi guys and a really big thanks for all the replies, priceless ! So no one would suggest I go with a non german made one then, as I was thinking of getting a new one, costing around £600?? Dan, I live in Essex and can source a new $$ from either the bass merchant or dv247, they both good retailers? Any additional advice is really welcome and thank you in advance!!! Cheers, Mark.
£600 will get you a second hand German Corvette $$ in great condition. You would be MmmMental not to, I had one and they are stunning. Give him a shot.

Major harmony Arpeggio and scale exercise
xilddx replied to jakenewmanbass's topic in Theory and Technique
Really ? - From a bass line construction perspective its probably going to start sounding odd if I'm emphisising the leading note during the IV chord at least in any stuff I am ever likely to play (maybe its a "jazz" thing and assumes an impending cycle of fourths movement...). Still seems arbitrary to me and (more importantly) confusing to beginners since its the only 5-note arpeggio in a sequence of otherwise pure 4 note ones.
Dude, I don't know sh*t about theory, but I do have good ears. Jake was kind enough to give me this exercise too, and the arpeggios sound to me to be spot on, they sound RIGHT to me. -
Didn't even realise anything had happened to him till just now! Sad to hear, he seemed like a really humble and nice guy in interviews.
Lovely guy. Great attitude too, and not only to bass. Sergio plays so well on Diamond Eyes, some great stuff on there.
Warwicks are distinctly unfashionable at the moment, but since when did bass players know anything about fashion?
It's weird but I truly believe that the reason for this is that Warwick's marketing strategy is all to cock and makes you feel like you haven't got anything special if you're a Warwick owner. The reality is anything but that, they are very special instruments and I think the quality is better than ever now, despite what some other people say. I have been looking at Sandberg and Mayones for my workhorse main bass, but you know what, I am drawing myself back to Warwick, I really miss my Corvette $$, it was a beast, and a very versatile and friendly one. EDIT: Today, it's looking like I'm going back to Warwick basses, and that thought is making me happy!

Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii is my all time favourite music video. It is amazing! Mind you, I first saw it in 1981 with some mates and we'd done a few hot knives It totally mesmerised me and I never ever lose the thrill I remember of seeing for the first time. Gilmour's steam train distortion tone in the middle part of Echoes Part 1 is absolutely incredible, wonderful beautiful guitar playing! And his echoed slide swishes at the end of Saucerful of Secrets is utterly die for. Can't get enough of it. I still have the video I taped off the TV in Wales in 1983 and I watch it at least twice a year.
Hi Mark, Looks like you're after a very specific model, and as a man that has had a Custom Shop Corvette $$ and now a Special Edition model, I can tell you it's a great one to buy. The general consensus on here with Warwick Rockbass models is that if you have the cash to buy a new one of those, you are infinitely better off buying a second hand, non-Rockbass model (i.e. German made). Now a second hand Corvette $$ will cost you up to about £750 or so, which I appreciate is a lot, but definitely worth the outlay. A non-$$ can be had for around £300-400 so maybe give one of those ago. What's your budget and where are you based? Dan
Dan speaks great wisdom. There's a cracking Nirvana Black German Corvette $$ on here (he'll sell for £600, I was close but the Streamer CT came up!) although he is after a Stingray trade. A S/H Corvette Standard or Proline will blow you away too, here's one for £495 on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warwick-Corvette-German-Made-Proline-bass-guitar-Includes-Warwick-Strap-/290610151361?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item43a9b6ffc1#ht_500wt_1204 Good luck, Warwicks are amazing basses, despite what some fetid types might say

Bassist Wanted for a Quirky Band in the London Area
xilddx replied to xilddx's topic in Musicians Wanted
All the views means wouldn't wanna take my bass to that area of London, I know for me anyway, just asking to get mugged. Maybe if I upgrade my insurance later this month (it's due for renewal) I'll drop you a PM.
Eh? Muggers tend to leave musicians alone apparently. -
I'm seriously hoping to get a jam going to, been far far too long since I bashed out a groove with a drummer and a guitarist....
Excellent! One more thing about the JAM ROOM, there is no such thing as a wrong note in there, and I mean that, just piss around and find the notes you like from the twelve choices available You should have heard the venerable Alex Claber making random funky rhino noises in 6/8 last year (on his bass, not his cab design workshop), it was so much fun! -
I'll certainly be heading to the jam room too, this year. Not sure if I'll be bringing my bigger Trace Elliot rig but can bring my l'il old Trace Elliot BLX-80 combo, if that helps.
Ahh, Nik said he'd bring one, but very many thanks! -
I got a bit tempted yesterday and contacted the bloke on Gumtree about his Basic......... thankfully it's identical to mine, so I'm not interested! I know it may not be what Silddx is after, but that bass is a seriously good buy for someone at £400! He sent me a pic and it does look in VGC and has a nice grain pattern.
Christ, there's a blue one on ebay for £700. -

As always you're all welcome to come over and play (not all at once!) Hope we can find a new home
Hello mate. Any chance of a bunch of detail pics please? It's active right? What's its condition? Many thanks, Nigel
I'm a little late to the party on this, any car spaces from London still available? If I make it I guess I could bring the Stick if anyone is interested (will depend on whether I've had time to swap out a broken volume pot though).
Dude, I wish there was room in the MX-5 Actually, it might be possible mate. I'm only bringing the Status, the POD and a guitar and I can get stuff behind the seats and in the boot. I reckon I'll be able to squeeze you in but you won't be able to bring any gear. I'll be leaving about 10am and can pick you up in Ealing if you like. Also, I need to leave at 4pm. -
Back to Sheema, who is fabulous, I had the honour of being presented to her as I we have a mutual friend in Sian (you might know her, wonderful lady). That was some gig in Cargo back in the day!
Good lord! I know Sian very well, it's usually me and her dancing at the front of most TGU gigs I think I may have been at the same gig as you mate! How funny!
