1. Have a fantastic night Pete!
2.
Good luck. If I wasn't playing Newcastle tonight I'd seriously be thinking about making the trip down to see this. Do you know when you're playing next?
You would be our honoured guest mate I'll let you know when the next one is. We're playing about every six weeks. Have a cracking gig tonight man!
3. sh*t. I have so much to do today before going to the venue. And I can't get out the house for watching this damn video on constant repeat! And that synth bass is bloody stunning!
4. Absolutely f***ing awesome! Thanks for that Laimis! I have a gig tonight, and this has made me desperate to get on that stage and rip it up! I watched this band rehearsing at the BBC for the Live at the BBC gig a few years ago. They were superb! The drummer in the foreground with the long dark hair was soundchecking the kit and suddenly launched into a massive display of Bozzio-like madness, and promptly got told off by the BBC engineer on the desk saying there's no way I can get you a sound if you do that, rack tom 1 please.
5. Tomorrow night! Please come and support us if you can, one day you will be able to say you were there at the beginning If you are coming, PM me and I'll put you on the reduced price entry list. Cheers, N And good luck to all of you gigging tomorrow night.
6. The entire Blackadder collection on CD, which I transferred to my iPod. Other than that, I'm listening many times to the song 'Couldn't Find a Reason' from Francis Dunnery's Fearless album. I've been asked to record a cover version for an album of FD covers which Francis has sanctioned for his CKDCF childrens' charity. It's an exciting project as Kit Richardson has agreed to do the vocals, and I am rewriting the song and playing everything else.
7. Have a look in the Bass Tutors section mate http://basschat.co.uk/forum/26-bass-tutors/
8.
Yeah that's a fairly simple version the original guy I think his name was deon plays some killer runs at around 2:45 mark, I will have a proper listen tonight The only person who would know its not perfect is me ;-)
You'll be fine mate, I'm sure. It's all really based on the first four notes of the major scale and a 4th below the tonic as that 'Bom Bom' accent before the chorus starts. I reckon you could have a lot of fun playing your own fills with this. They all sound pretty random anyway, so doing your own is more in keeping with the spirit of the song.
9.
Soert guys if this is in the wrong section, I have a dep gig Friday and this is the only song I don't know, if I remember right there is a lot of bass runs and stuff in it. Normally I would sit down and chart it but I don't have time. So a big favor does anyone have the chart for this ? It would save my neck ;-) Cheers guys D
It's a simple song construction, is it not possible to learn it by ear? Learn the roots and add some fills here and there when you're comfortable with the structure, can't be that hard. No-one's going to care if it's not the same the original are they? 10.
Exactly. I think this is the worry. As we are trying to be efficient there isn't much time for creativity and the songs are pretty much copies of the original. It'd be nice for punters and us if the songs had a little extra to them.
That 'little extra' should come from the people in the band, not the music.
11. Jesus. What a total waste of my time that was. And what an irritating bastard.
12.
Thanks guys, I just did! Apologies, I completely missed the thread with Souncloud in big bold letters!
So did I, and I think I've posted on it before
13.
Cheers mate...I see you're playing the night before. Have a good one.
Thanks chief!
14. Pete, have a cracking gig mate! I can't make it this time
15.
Saw this on FB but I'm gigging that night. BTW - terrible, terrible photo!
Oh that's a shame. Have a great gig though! Yes, I agree, I'll change it, it was copied from the review too! Those glowing eyes is stupid
16. We are headlining and on at about 10.30pm http://www.theworksh...ntlist&Itemid=2 “Kit Richardson begins singing, and my jaw drops. She stretches, trips and cartwheels her words and vowels which seem choreographed to pogo along with the music. The songs are certainly jaunty, but feel almost subterranean in depth...Bewilderingly diverse pop songs...Amazing.” – ARTROCKER
17. I'd love to go, I used to know Darby a while ago, he's a great player. Should be a great night! Sadly, I'm rehearsing
18.
Indeed. I used to shower after a gig.... now I feel I have to shower before!
Brilliant!
19. At least the smoke covered the smell of men and their disgusting Lynx aromas. Pubs and venues smell horrible now.
20.
It makes them stink and go yellow. That might be a dealbreaker to some people.
f*** 'em. Mine come from a smoky pet ridden home and I'm proud of it. Basses need a life too.
21. My main bass band is with Kitty Richardson. Lazy people keep comparing her to Kate Bush, because she's a woman playing piano and singing I suppose. She's more prog-pop really. She's a fantastic singer and songwriter, especially for one so young, and her violin scores are often a bit mental. I think she's a massive talent. She has a beautiful, really expressive voice, and her lyrics are usually pretty damn dark but wrapped in pretty paper. Here's the EP we released a few months ago, you can listen to it all here http://kitrichardson.bandcamp.com/
22. The most awesome band I've been a bass player in http://soundcloud.com/kit-richardson
23. It's the bass and guitar solo section. It's a band called Sonic Elements and Francis is involved with them. A return to the Dunnery shred days, by Dunnery himself Dunnery on guitar and (I think) Billy Sherwood on everything else.
