A double click on the MIDI event and then a double click where you want the cymbal crash works for me
Thanks mate. It adds a MIDI event to every repeated loop Maybe there is an option to turn off 'Add to each repeat' or something, but I can't find anything to that effect.

I can't seem to add a cymbal in an EZDrummer loop without it adding the same midi note to each repeat of the loop. It's driving me nuts! I dragged a loop to the track, then dragged it to repeat 4 times, and I want to add a cymbal at the beginning of the set. I can't figure out how though. In every YT vid I see, they are able to do this. But none of those vids use Reaper. Can Reaper do this? Help! Cheers

John at Far East is a diamond to deal with and he knows his stuff. You can buy from him with absolute confidence. And these are the non-export basses too, higher spec than the export models. That is a lovely Jazz!

Yep, if it was a band I REALLY wanted to be a part of, I would play what they needed for the look. I like a bit of glamour or style in any band I'm in anyway I simply would not be seen dead on stage with a jeans and t shirt and a sunburst bass. -
Here's a number from the BBC gig I was privileged to be at. A f***ing awesome performance I think you'll agree It was lovely watching them soundchecking for a couple of hours.

Summat I did to try and get a high Indian tabla sound. Played with thumb hits on the G string high up the neck. I'm playing drums on this too. The only thing I recorded with them before I flogged them to Happy Jack. http://soundcloud.com/silddx/bads-tabla-1-master-21-may
It is. You can either execute a technique or you can't. There's nothing subjective about it really.
I know people who can execute all sorts of sh*t, but they can't seem to do it with any feel, dynamics, or communication of energy. There are many subjective elements to TECHNIQUE, it's just that some people can't appreciate anything but the technique.
Musicians should definitely NOT be quantifiable. But when you have a limited knowledge of the intricate elements of music, such as feel, dynamics, taste etc it is easy to simply appreciate the elements that are obvious and quantifiable, ie technique, speed of playing etc. Im not saying its right, just easy for beginners with a limited knowledge and others who rate technical ability as the highest element of music for appreciation.
I think that's why non-musicians seem to appreciate music so much more than most of us musicians do.
-
The problem is, technical ability is quantifiable... 'taste' is highly subjective. (although I agree that I would much rather see the latter over the former... But good luck trying define it!)
So should musicians should be 'quantifiable'? Why do so many 'musicians' seem to WANT to be 'quantifiable'?
-
It's because we all have an opinion... Which is different. Some people value 'tasteful' playing, some enjoy technical displays, others prefer complex chord sequences and others like a straight forward rock song. If we all valued music/musicians in the same way we'd live in a very boring world... Or North Korea.
All of which can be executed with TASTE.
-
By god I see a lot of this on here. It seems many of us judge the quality of musicians by their chops. I have seen plenty of bassists with great chops, and the articulation and expression of a sedated sloth. Why is this? Are we so deaf to beautifully nuanced simplicity? Are we only focused on the bland displays of the mechanics, demonstrating years of study and practice? Yes yes, some of us vindicate ourselves by slagging off Nigel Clutterbuck, and exalting James Jamerson, and then post a video of 'An Amazing Bass Solo' featuring, you guessed it, some SLAP, supposedly funky, almost always about as interesting as a sheet of toilet paper and with less texture. Why can't we value TASTE over technique? Is it because we think it requires no tangible effort?
I must admit, the footage I've seen of her she's by no means great. But as part of a larger group though she obviously fits in and has a driving influence within Beyonce's band. Being a musician in those kinds of situations has much more to do with just being able to be a wizard on your instrument. It's about the sum of the parts and if you're MD'ing, your ability to lead. She also visually looks the part as well.
Ah, but she is. As you have said in your second paragraph.
Most people will hate this and yes am opening up a massive can of worms but I feel like I have to do some thing about what I personally believe to be the capitalistic and elitist. motivation behind some of the big names in the bass world these days, and yes this is one of them rants errrm I mean open discussions for intellectual debate. So this is my problem, companies like Fodera, Wal and kevin smith and to be honest any other maker who care to charge a ridiculous amount of money for there product, claiming that the price is justified. Its just flat out wrong, and there should be some form of ethical responsibility on there behalf . Am not disagreeing with the fact that these instruments are not brilliant in there own way (glad I got that disclaimer out of the way :-) ) But its just the fact that they charge an extraordinary amount of money for some thing which really is not justified in any other way other than the fact you are buying in to a brand. Tiffany do it all the time with silver, which I know cost nothing compared to the mark up that they make, these “high end” bass luthiers are no different. the whole problem I have with this is that once you start charging that much you are starting to make musical instruments an elites item, that is a commodity for the better off when in reality it would help every one if a higher calibre of instrument was available to every one and in turn that would help every one become better players. And I know of the saying “people will pay what that think that it worth” and it is a fair point to some degree, but this is my problem as well with that ethos. A, some one could possibly pay to little for an instrument that is worthy of a higher price. B. Some one could pay to much for an instrument that is not worthy of said price tag I think the point of this rant is that I want to open the floor to every one to actually speak about this and not be accused of “trolling” to put together there thoughts in a concise manner which can lead to a mutual understanding of people on every side. I know which side I stand on but I would love to hear what other people think that could lead me to understand why and how this has happened in the bass world.
The only ethical issues involved are the wood sources. Have a look at the ethics of the food you eat, the clothes you wear, the technology you use, and get back on here for a chat mate. Cheap sh*t is where the ethical problems usually lie.
