My Streamer Chrome Tone - one of the best basses I've ever played.
Wickid! I have a CT too. It's an absolute beast. Best bass I have ever owned or played.
Hahaha, that sounded dreadful. Double checked was a 'shreds' video.
Is it SHREDS vid? I couldn't find any evidence for that.

What the actual f*** was that? He couldn't even play the riff in time, let alone slap a solo. Truly apalling. I also think Schnozz is taking the piss somewhat
Some jazzin', funkin' footage from our first gig (in this formation) from last weekend
Mike, I enjoyed that! It had a really nice vibe. You know I'm not keen on jazz, but that sort of felt right, it was fun!

Best of luck with it Craig. I have to say it's not my thing these days, but like Chris2112 I'd have really dug it about 10 years ago. It's great though, great sound too, although I'd have liked to hear a bit more bass under the heavy guitar parts. All the best.
No worries! If I was down in London more often then I'd certainly want to catch you lot playing live. Cheers for info on how you got that sound - love it. Going to try replicating it myself sometime. 51m0n's definitely showed off his engineering chops on the mixing/mastering - they all sound superb!
Thanks again mate Yeah, Si's ace. He did a wonderful job of the EP, I still listen to it a lot. Cheers!

Great to hear there are some happy bands out there!
Nice thread Nige. And I thought you should know that I picked up a copy of 'You Look So Good' last night... gave it a listen earlier and I couldn't get the damned song out of my head - in a good way! - so bagged it on Bandcamp so I could exorcise it from my mind. VERY catchy tune with huge cross-over potential. Just realised I should've picked up the album given it's only a fiver, so that'll be another sale you'll be getting from me Anyway, great band. I can see why you're delighted to be a part of it. PS: love the bass tone on 'You Always Did' - how'd you manage that? A pedal or post-production FX?
Ah that was you! Kit was talking about someone buying YLSGT in rehearsal yesterday Thanks mate! And thanks for the lovely feedback! The bass tones on all the songs are a Warwick Corvette $$ into my POD X3 LIVE then into the desk. On YAD there's compression, chorus, eq, a little drive, and a little reverb. 51m0n did some work with the sound in the production, but they're essentially my tones. Glad there's your thumbs up for digital modelling

Awesome guys! Thank you! Nx
I grew up in the 70s and 80s. The 80s in particular were notable for the complete sh*te that was being produced. The sh*te is now pretty much considered quality music.
You depressing bastard And wrong.

You can't just join a band and start calling the shots! The songs may be in different keys for a number of sound musical reasons. Don't think he is a 'dork' for doing this. You should aspire to be able to play without unwanted string-ringing. Personally, if you joined one of the bands I'm in and had this attitude of yours, you would last one rehearsal. Sorry.

Look, right, The X Factor is an entertainment show with music as the conduit for the format. This is because almost everyone likes and listens to some music. If you just chucked the CDs of the songs on there to the public, most of them wouldn't give it the time of day. It's big budget TV entertainment. It's the format that matters. Most of the people who watch X Factor have diverse musical tastes for all sorts of reasons. We like the format, it's exciting, but it doesn't mean we think the the pinnacle of music or that we even like it. It's inoffensive and they are not even original songs. Don't get your knickers in a twist. There are loads of kids at Rush concerts, and at Everything Everything concerts, and even at Snarky Puppy concerts I'm told, although I don't understand that

From the Bare Knuckle Pickup site .. Why do scatterwound pickups sound different to machine wound ones Scatterwinding by hand can be time consuming but it has many advantages over conventional machine winding, not least a far superior sound. When a coil is scatterwound, the wire isn't as close or even, layer on layer, as with a machine and this lowers the distributed capacitance that exists between the turns of the wire. Lower capacitance allows more top end through, the resonant peak increases slightly and the pickup has a flatter frequency response across its range. The result is a clearer, more open sound that has the impression of being louder purely by the amount of extra detail and dynamics present.

It's nice to read the posts above and know there are bands out there who are happy and proud together I was starting to wonder!
thats awesome to hear i know james (jimma) through tech music schools and various sessions hes a good drummer and a great guy to boot
What a coincidence! Yeah James is a great player and musician. He's quite new to Kit's band and he's settled in a treat. He's actually brought a slightly more punchy feel to the sound. I really enjoy playing with him, really nice bloke too.
If i stayed in Londonium i would definitely be there. I have had a fair few listens to the stuff on bandcamp now , very catchy.
Thank you mate

I am There are many threads about band problems and the sh*t you have to deal with. But I thought I'd start one about the opposite, because there SHOULD be one Is your band a delight to be a part of? I feel so lucky to be in Kit Richardson's band. Everyone is lovely, and quirky, such great people to be around. They are all totally reliable. They are all excellent musicians with panache and musical expression. They are all very serious amateurs and mostly multi instrumentalists. They all look good on stage. Did I mention they are also all lovely to be around and super reliable? We do it because we love Kit and her music, and we are given the massive bonus of having much creative input, and Kit gives us full credits for our contributions. Kit is also a very lovely nutcase and we laugh a lot. She also pays for everything, which I think is a mark of trust and respect and she tells us this. I truly love the music, I think it's really good. I feel very proud to be a part of it all. We do really nice gigs, we have a splendid time after when we have time. We have some amazing fans too, including, I am so humbled to say, a number of Basschat members. I feel very proud of this band. Am I just lucky? Or are there others of you out there?

I think that's fantastic! What a massive buzz! Congratulations mate! I'd be seriously hyped by that I'm really looking forward to supporting Rush at the Fag & Twat down the road in a couple of months. -
I do not doubt for a second he knows his stuff Silddx. I have a friend who used to do the sound at the bush hall the link you posted reminds me slightly of a live recording he did of Imogen Heap there.
Cool! Does it really sound live though?
Hey thats what i was after, honesty. Cheers. There is very little limiting going on. I am by no means a pro (obviously lol) this is just a bedroom recording, albeit one that i am pretty happy with. The thing i think is that i have no real idea about e.q. so the have not really been e.q.ed other than a few slightly modified presets. And as i say i need better speakers i think. I know that you cant pollish a turd. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Any of the songs you thought were better than others?
Elvis, if you want to hear 51m0n's work to get an idea of just how much he knows and how his advice above translates into a real world mix, click the long Kit Richardson picture in my signature below and have a listen. 51m0n mixed our EP, he is a real engineer and he seriously knows what he's talking about, he has ace ears too.. Best of luck mate.

I've had little time to start recording and I'll start tomorrow, but I've got so little time next week. I have thought about what I want to do though, so it should get done reasonably quickly once I start. I like the ones up already, WalMan's is great, and Blademan has surpassed himself this month. It's gonna be tough.
-
I dont think giving them to your friend to master will solve the problem. Things like this need to be tackled at mix level.
Correct.
