1.
I work as a spiritual healer in everyday life and do meet some really cool lovely people through my work, but f..k me you and your mates should have wings
Not at all. They are, perhaps, people who have humanitarian values. Bit sad you you think that mate tbh
 2.
How the f..k can pinball not have a single vote and his track is really good?
Perhaps he's not on Facebook
 3.
Could I suggest that the photo competition should not be neglected in all of this (no, I'm not a participant, merely admirateur of the shots proposed...) To be found here... http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 ...Enjoy...
Correct, I voted yesterday.
 4.
I admit im not facebook savvy and no offense taken, i would see the basschat link on a mates page and click it and vote for him, isnt it human nature to do this. I may vote for someone else just to wind him up but i would probably vote
No!! It isn't! I sent my soundcloud link (NOT the BC link) to a bunch of friends and musicians I play with, told them what I was doing, and not ONE of them has asked how they can vote for me. They just told me what they thought of my music. I think you must have an odd view of people's motivations in general, or maybe my friends are unusually fair minded. You get a lot of BC members posting links to external competitions imploring people to vote for them, BotB, chance to win a support slot, etc. I have listened but only vote for them if I think they are worthy of my vote in favour of the competition.
 5.
The like button is on this page at the top, not on facebook and if you click it, this then sticks the bass chat competition link on your facebook page, which so far 35 people have done. So its safe to assume that you dont have to announce anything isnt it if its on your page and all your mates know you play bass? Kinda big hint unless your mates are all thick Like i said dont shoot the messenger they may not have any plan for world dominance or anything else in place. I dont have a problem with facebook, twitter or whatever social crap people use, its life it happens.
The above is what I mean by you not seeming Facebook savvy. No offence meant at all mate. But it's just not how it works. People generally take from Facebook, they don't give. You have to MAKE them want to give.
 6.
I seem to have missed something here. I had a look on FB and couldn't find this. I'd like to help you out, if you could only show me the link...
7.
Love your honesty in your post earlier mate, posts often get taken completely out of context and after all they are just opinions to be considered, dismissed or agreed with, but they are just opinions and thoughts out loud. I find the way i write often gets taken wrong, its the bull in the china shop syndrome with me but its not meant in any way like that. Word to ones self think before speak I agree with a lot of what you are saying, its sad but people seem to be really on the facebook thing but its gonna happen, its part of the site, there are links so people will use them. But its a case of dont shoot the messenger, if people use them and get votes from that it doesnt mean they have an underlying plan or stratergy to rule the world.
I'm forming the impression you are not very Facebook savvy mate. Liking a link does f*** all on Facebook unless it's entertaining, some sh*te cod philosophy, or a petition to stop Mexicans using live kittens as shark bait. Liking a page or a competition or a band on Facebook don't do sh*t You have to have an angle or a personal missive to get people to do something for you, like posting a link and saying "VOTE FOR ME IN THIS BASS COMPETITION!!! I COULD WIN A MONTH'S f***in CUPCAKE SUPPLY !!!!!!!!".
 8.
Close arsenic, I like to think its about development. Of your creative skills, your ability to interpret an abstract subject, work to a timeframe, take and give criticism and a wholebload more. Basically developing as a composer. For example it seems entries with vocals are doing doing particularly well. Now how are people who cant sing going to get by this? I dont know about you but Im eager to find out
I'll just get Kit Richardson or Ingrid Webster to do the vocal on my next one That might help Seriously, I think most people don't really get instrumental stuff that much, they can understand the music better if they have a funky groove, nice melody, sexy chord sequence, and a lyric. I know we get a lot of criticism of popular music on Basschat, and the X Factor, and mainstream pandering, etc. but the fact is, most people, including us musicians, can't assimilate complex or aspirational music unless we've been exposed to it early on and by someone we trust and respect. I have no problem with that, I LOVE pop music, I grew up on it, but I also had a big fat geeky friend who I would play D&D with all day and listen to all sorts of amazing sh*t from his massive collection, Zappa was his favourite. I love loads of the music he introduced me to even now. It's all been a huge influence. We fell out massively and not had contact with him for 30 years, but really, most of the music I make is a dedication to him and the musical education I received from him. There's virtually no modern popular instrumental music to draw from these days is there?
 9.
Sorry Nig, I must be getting cynical in my old age I'm not an expert on human behaviour, but I know people like to win, (not just for material gain) and asking friends for support may not seem so bad to everyone. This is a competition after all and every song entered is a campaign strategy. I am a very fair kind of guy btw
S'funny innit, I feel I am incredibly cynical, but one very close friend told me I am very optimistic about humanity, I am thankfully starting to believe them But I wonder if you are right. I know you're a fair geezer mate
 10.
I would expect entrants to drum up as many votes as possible in whatever way they can in order to win the prize. That's human nature isn't it?
Very very sadly, I think you are probably right, but I desperately hope that's not the case here, and I am saddened and disappointed you would expect the entrants to do so. I do hope this is not your personal attitude as I have always thought you were a very fair kind of guy. And I don't mean your complexion, although Anglesey might do that to a person The effort should go into the interpretation, composition, execution, and being true to oneself. Not trying to ensure material gain with a campaign strategy, if that's the case then one should enter the Basschat Public Relations & Marketing Competition
 11. How do you know that Krysh? Voting finishes in 53 hours mate
 12. charic, don't take any sh*t from anyone, none of this is your fault and for what it's worth I think you made absolutely the right decision to start the voting again, the other options were not sensible to my mind and would have generated very skewed results. The same trend is emerging already after only about 9 hours and 57 votes. We all know how many votes we had before if anyone needs that for an ego stroke, and barring the odd anomaly I think the result will probably be the same too. And there's only one winner. I think the only issue that's changed the 2nd and 3rd runners at the moment is that Elvis's link was wrong, and wasn't rectified until yesterday anyway and now he has the vocals version available, and very clearly people are showing a strong preference for compositions with lyrics and self-confessed amateur vocalists Hope I haven't offended anyone, but I think this new poll is perfectly fair.
 13.
Evidence suggests otherwise, police have acknowledged this and if someone doesnt like my track they dont vote for it, sorry if language offends you but i come from the punk era and say it how i feel it is, like i said earlier just being honest, this has f..kd me right up as people seem to have got the hump now, opinions where asked for and given, its ok to disagree, we can agree to disagree, not having a go, like i said just being honest. I dont think its ok for mates to vote i think it will happen when its all over face book, twitter and other sites e.t.c. Its life and nothing can be done about it, please guys like i have said just offering an honest opinion, its not meant in a negative way at all, its just an opinion and i am not saying its right its just mine.
Stop worrying, just use some of that punky energy healing and spiritual development on yourself Sorry, just kidding.
 14. Jeez, what's all this problem with the FB likes and stuff? Unless you unfairly solicited your mates to vote for you, STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT!
 15.
Dummy out of pram Not fair as its different for some already, either revert to origainal votes which is absolutely fair, what is the problem with that? Or let 13 guitars choose which would be fair enough but needs to be done soon either way otherwise if done later it wont look good to anyone. Just being honest, does anyone else have a problem with votes being put back to original votes? I suppose what i am saying is how not giving people their original vote dealing with it in the best way, not being an arse but i dont see how this is best?
The only one that looks very different is Elvis's. And that is probably because the original link to his entry was wrong, it linked to his track with no vocal. So all in all, it's looking about right. I was in third place before and now I'm nowhere near, but mine's pretty much an instrumental and clearly vocal tracks seem to be far the most popular this time. The site f***ed up, it couldn't be helped, sh*t like this happens sometimes, it's not ideal, but wtf. You think it's ok for mates to vote, some of us don't. Some think not listening to the whole track is ok, some of us don't. Was the voting truly fair or unfair, who knows? Let's just take it on the chin and be gracious about it. I'm sorry you are now in 3rd place instead of 2nd, but Skol is the one who stands to be the most gutted if this fresh poll is very different and he loses his huge lead and comes second. There was still a long way to go in the voting and NO-ONE knows how it would have ended up anyway.
 16.
Hi, looks like i missed lots of exciting stuff. Well I can now see the voting but no links to the tracks so can't listen to them.
They are in the OP fella
 17.
Unfortunately guys it looks like all the votes have been lost in the downtime yesterday... fek baws follicles! Really sorry guys, start over? Umm... I don't know if I'll be able to see who is voting for who as a mod, not explored that option yet. There is an option to make votes public but that seems a little mean spirited to me?
I noticed in the photo comp the same thing had happened. What a pisser. Lot's of techy probs on BC lately aren't there Anyway, I voted for the same entry I did before. Hopefully the result will be the same. I do think messages need to go in General Discussion, BC FB and Twitter pages explaining the poll reverting to zero votes situation and asking people to recast theirs. Thanks again charic.
 18.
If there are votes from new members because of social media sites, that cant be helped if the links are on this site, which there are six of on the bottom left of this page, if they are all social media type links that is. FB and Twitter are there, dont recognise the others, but the point i am making is how ever votes are made its not down to the entrant what the people on those sites do because of the link. I am feeling guilty for pressing the like button on the competition page now, but 25 others have as well! Have also removed link from my face book page.
I agree. And I never said anything was the fault of any entrant. My beef was with voters who had not listened to all the entrants. Why are you feeling guilty, you have done nothing wrong from what I can see?
 19.
Well charic, is this the case? Yes. I got a FB account against my better judgement just to 'like' 13 Guitar. So my total FB friends = 0. And I WILL NOT do Twitter as I still have at least half a brain in working order. IMHO.
I'll be your FB friend
 20.
Good questions being asked there - you know I was looking at it earlier today and seeing 3 clear favourites and wondering if some kind of second transferable vote thing would be a good idea.... or just the fella whos building the bass to pick his fave out of the top 2/3 or something. As for listening to the whole song.... on quite a few I didn't - I don't personally have a problem of skipping the last 30s of a track I don't like much - sorry. I worked on the basis that I loved one of the entries I had heard (Silddx ironically) and listened to the rest to see if anyone came close. 2-3 other entries did for me- a lot of the rest I could tell after 16 bars that I prefered silddx's so forgive me if I skip the last 30 seconds! Not that the music was bad - just that there was some entries that were pretty genius
Fair enough, it's just that I feel 30 secs is not a lot of time and I feel that one misses the story and the feel if one skips sections. Although I'll admit a couple sounded like they had identical cut and paste sections to me, and I only realised that by listening to all the tracks all the way through. I am made up you liked mine though Thank you mate!
 21.
Good evening, Nigel... Sorry, I was just pulling your ******; my twisted sense of 'humour' was in no way intended to offend. Respect, and apologies. A cheap shot, I'll avow. (...but I'm not going to be calling you for putting up a conservatory for me any time soon..! ) Can't wait for the poll to come back, when charic has finished stuffing the ballot boxes. What's taking him so long..?
Only because you know I'd make the frame from Jimmy Savile's bones Cheers mate, I knew you were
 22.
Don't worry Nige! Really mate. I don't think there's anything personal going on here (see my post earlier tonight). I'm genuinely open to whatever comes of whatever's going on - if anything is going on!? :-) This discussion has definitely got me thinking though. I have no idea who's been voting for me. I've told people to check out the entries and vote on Twitter, on the BC SoundCloud group and in the General Discussion forum here. Not sure what to think if that's the reason for my tally in the poll...can't say I mind if people have made the effort to listen and vote. Good on 'em! But equally I'd be p1ssed if my efforts to plug the competition had backfired and were deemed unfair. But if so, heh, I'll roll with that ;-) Seriously. Anyway, don't fret mate! I don't feel like you or anyone else here is gunning for me. Having a prize on offer does seem to have changed the spirit of things a little, but not in a 'bad' way per se. Right...I'm off to watch Later on catch up now. Night all! :-)
Thank you Paul
 23.
Seems to be a blip... nige youve done nothing wrong. Ill look into it in the morning
I will sleep better now mate, thank you!
 24.
Silddx..? Silddx..? Rings a far distant bell from my schooldays.... Hmmm... Ah, yes; isn't that Ancient Greek for 'Jonah'..?
f***in' 'ell mate! That wasn't my intention to be a Jonah but if for the good of the competition I should be a sperm whale's dinner, I will happily withdraw I just thought all tracks deserved a full listen before voting and highlighted that at least one wasn't. Isn't that the least one should expect from a fellow basschat member and musician? I know, I know, I am far too idealist and all too aware the world is not fair
 25.
You're a very naughty boy Nige, you **** stirrer you Bringing conspiracy theories into this. I don't know. And now your entry has disappeared from SC for me? Most strange @Tis odd on the count but I have never been sure what clicks the counter over. I presume it is down to more than just a quick click through & on
It should be there mate, I changed the mix just before the voting and put a new link up. If you clicked the link in someone's reply it won't work though as I marked the previous one as private.
