I just used my RS210 with the Genz STL900 and a new aux cable I just had delivered. I cant believe how good music sounds through this setup. Lovely fat.crisp, bass, but the rest of the music is well balanced. The RS210 cab continues to impress me.

If you are using public transport for practices, just DI when you get there. I'd not ever want to schlep a cab on public transport.

We are looking at Weddings and New Year at the moment. We are a three piece with a very modern and simple setup, (bass/vocals, drums/percussion, acoustic guitar/main vocals). Its such good fun and an easy load in, that I really appreciate being in the band. Im quite excited about more work, but I know they are starting to say 'no' to any freebies, even to pubs we worked with before just to get our foot in the door. Weddings? We are looking at £500 minimum for the band.

DB112s heavily scooped?! I know the GS might have a scoop, but the DB series is mid-central! Looking good btw. What are the normal 'aesthetics' of the stock Matamp 2x12 cabinets?

You may as well just buy an RS210 if you want a small, fairly light and well priced cabinet. IMO.

I watched the Four Rooms with this on. I cant believe the offers they made, some of them wouldnt even cover a normal vintage bass, never mind Dee Dee's! They clearly were trying to rip him off or knew nothing about the vintage market/rock n roll heritage.

In fact, its got longer. The Stingray 5 was such a massive influence on the market, and is still defined as one of 'the' classic 5 string basses. Ive grown up knowing that I would always end up with a Ray 5. From my days of looking at one in a store near me and being fascinated, to now, I still find them brilliant. 5ers are still new to me, in all honesty. I tried 34", 35" and all different spacings. In the end, I went with tone and quality over everything else, and that happened to be Musicman. I do understand those who want a 19mm, but I think personally I could adapt to anything.

I prefer her sister.

Totally up to you. If you want the guard film on and sticker, leave it on. I think my MIA P still has it on...people have even noticed.

I think the TTE will be cheaper once its been around a few months...say £850? Still expensive, and probably much cheaper in the USA even though we are in Europe. Id like the 1x12 Combo Lite.

They have been reduced to $2000 and Sterling Ball (BP) is giving money to charity (all of it?) if it goes ahead. This makes me wonder why so many on talkbass criticise them. Sure, Ive had a few QC issues, but so far, they have done an excellent job with the replacements. $2000 for a custom spaced Ray 5 is cheap compared to a Metro Sadowsky! Anyway, im glad we seem to have more manners on Basschat as the Talkbass thread is appalling.

Wow, what a gig. If I were playing gigs like that, Id have definitely felt 'this is where its at!'. Cool artist as well, she's a feisty lady with a great voice.

If you like the more 'sucked' mids distortion tone, just notch the low mids/high mids down a click or two, then ramp the tubetone right up (past 12 Im guessing). Im guessing this amp is putting out about 400-450 into 8 ohms maximum. Its a lot, anyway! TC watts are always quite conservatively rated. If you want a more mids based distortion, id ramp the low mids up a little, have the rest of the controls on 12 ish/flat probably, then again use the tubetone. A plectrum will make a massive difference for a really attacking tone. You can add some compression as well.
