  1. All good points. Even if a little widely spaced 😁
  2. Fair. In which case if Dingwall with the D bird don't feel they have done anything wrong and have been playing by the book why bother changing? Maybe this is not a Gibson rip off issue after all?
  3. 👍 That is all that's required. Don't steal. Pay folk what's due. And we can all get on with making a fair living from our creative efforts.
  4. Nope not joking at all. Those are NOT the basses that either Aria or Yamaha are famous for are they?
  5. If you're simply taking someone else's design you should at the very least pay them a royalty for doing so. Intellectual Property, which includes design, theft is well, er...theft isn't it? How would any of us feel if we'd written a song and someone else stole it? Dingwall clearly know that they are bang to rights here and have been 'getting away with it' for too long, otherwise they wouldn't have made the above changes sharpish would they? Aria, Yamaha etc have all come up with their own designs and made a great success of the their bass ranges over many decades without simply plagiarising Fender's designs. But as Chris rightly says, unless Gibson get their act together just pursuing copycats alone isn't going to save their brand.
  6. Thanks mcnach. I'm actually a little relieved to be hearing that the Spark isn't necessarily the promised land - given ALL the positive press its been getting recently! After your first post on it above I was about to hit the order button, but fortunately I saw your other posts too I completely agree that there is a broader point to be aware of about basses, pups and their interaction with drive. Using my Yammy BB P/J set up to illustrate: I'm finding that the thump / thud of the P pups actually works well with DG type pedals (e.g. VMT , B3K) where the top end fizziness of the drive is tamed by the P pup and the flip side is good sustain and bite, whereas with J pups the DG VMT and B3K, are just too toppy (for me anyway!) With more 'meaty-growl' pedals (e.g. Grizzly Bass) the opposite is true: the drive sputters pretty quickly with P pups like a dying battery, whereas with J pups it sounds great - again with good sustain and bite.
  7. Great post, thanks Jim! I'm glad you're still a big fan of the Fearless cabs - it's good to know that my ears are not deceiving me just to make me feel better for having recently forked out for one! Is there a pic of the BC cab lurking around somewhere that you or @stevie could post for us on this thread? And is there a spec sheet for it (the usual: ohms, power handling, output, frequency response, weight etc)? What more could we want? Well for those of us who are still struggling to differentiate our Stomp from our Aftershock and lack the confidence to put something like a cab together without the tolex fraying or melting, maybe getting you or Stevie to provide a finished product?! 😁 How much does the kit form cost and what would be a cost for the finished product? (You may want to consult with Stevie on the latter if this is not something that you are already providing to BC Land!)
  8. @mcnach you also mentioned elsewhere that the Spark Boost sounded better with some basses than others. Which basses does it work well with and which not? I've found that the J bridge pup on my Yammys produces a fair bit more sustain and bite with some of my drives than the P pup.
  9. Yammy store in London seems to be having a bit of a sale on, although the prices of basses not in the sale seem to have gone up and some of them eye wateringly so!
  10. You gonna post a YT clip of the band doing this I hope? Now that you've started the ball rolling on commenting about the appearance of other folks' posts, how come your posts are all double spaced compared to everyone else's eh, eh? 😁
  11. Well, even if you have previously owned just about every bit of bass gear that's been available, it's good to that see you still have attitude ... of a Yammy kind anyway 😀
  12. Just connecting a couple of dots... Any cab that delivers a meaty low end is going to be putting out more in the low frequency range, and those low-f waves are also the higher energy ones. So I guess it's not surprising that the F112 can soak up the watts and needs to be partnered with a decent powered amp to get the most out of it. @xgsjx gave the relationship of RMS power at 4 ohms => 2/3 RMS power at 8 ohms earlier in this thread. That would broadly tie in with Marcus Limited 800 amp, we've just been discussing on another thread, delivering 800W at 4ohm = 500W at 8ohm (per its spec sheet), and my DG M900 delivering 900+ W at 4ohms = circa 600W at 8ohms (although the manual states 500W at 8ohms which is a little confusing). Should do the trick
  13. Marcus Limited 800 = 500W at 8 ohms. That's going to pair very well with some excellent 8 ohm cabs! Particularly those that soak up watts fearlessly
  14. @jazzyvee great post thanks. I was in the queue behind you for that Dubster 2 last year In addition to the two uses you mentioned, I suspect it could also work well for synth bass.
  15. They'd be better off buying ACG, Ashdown, Barefaced, Chowny, Laney, Marshall or Shuker (which other Brit brands am I missing?) if they had any sense!
  16. Capable drum machine in very good condition - has had light home use only. (Currently retailing for £196 new). Comes with original manuals and PSU.
  17. Very good condition pedal (mine still has velcro on the bottom) and comes with box. Has had relatively light home use only. Excellent looper with a multitude of options to make layering both easy and effective. You can build single instrument multi-layered songs and jams from the off. Both mic and 1/4" inputs and USB out for easy uploading onto PC without the need for a DAW. Memory capacity for 99 loops and 3 hours of recording. 2 pedal format for ease of use. Usual rugged Boss build. Price includes UK P&P.
  18. Yup bad news for us UK bassists! But great news for American, Japanese and European tourists and the UK tourist industry
  19. Just looking at your band pass chart - is that the actual one for the 'Millerizer'? It seems to be inverted to what I would be expecting from a VPF mid scoop type filter i.e. I would be expecting a cut between 5 kHz and 12 kHz (and therefore a relative boost of the lows and the highs).
  20. Yup - that's very much my conclusion too! I think we're in agreement that the new Marcus Limited range has finally nailed it on the EQ centre-point front and I look forward to buying Fretmeister's new amp off him when he's getting his next 'must have now' toy 😂
  21. Good stuff - I look forward to getting your thoughts on it once you've had a chance to put it through its paces. For me, it's always nice to have something a bit tonally varied - it just seems to keep everything from going stale. I find that particularly with my Yammy and Ibby basses. I think you're going to get some of that tonal variety / keeping things fresh with your M900 and MB heads. Enjoy!
  22. Haha! Is that a BF SC you have by any chance? If so, that would be far too BC clone if you've got both the same amp and cab as me and are now thinking about going MBass - I previously had the LM3 😁 So you going to push the button on the Marcus Limited or going to hold off for the GK Legacy?
  23. @3below and @Raggy - not wanting to go off piste on a FS thread, but am really interested to know whether your BF Dubsters are: - the v1 or v2? - what else you pair yours with? - whether you're getting any low end boominess on your sets and if so how you have dealt with that? If you've got any clips uploaded of the Dubster being used, that would be fantastic - couldn't find anything much at all on YouTube!

    Geddy Lee pedal

Thanks dB, that makes good sense and I'll try to get with the jargon! 😁 So I guess I'm not into 'clanky' drive tones which is at the core of this pedal, but much more into meaty growl. Although having said that, I am a huge fan of Geddy!!
  25. The new Marcus Limited range seems to have dealt with ALL the EQ shortcomings that were gripes for me with the old LM3. The LM3 had the bass EQ centre set too low at 40Hz, a massive 'hole' between high-mid centre EQ and treble EQ, and with the treble EQ being centred at a less than useful 10kHz. The EQ centre points and semi-para mids look like just the ticket on this new model - so I think it's going to be their best D class head yet. It should give you a bit more of that Markbass warmth to contrast with the clean tone of your DG M900 and I suspect you're going to love it Btw - if you're wanting that top end zing for slap, do your cabs have a tweeter?
