12 March is a Thursday, right, KT? Well no gigs in the diary for then currently, so would love to pop along to see you guys that night. Free entry or tickets on the door? @dave_bass5, @christhammer666, @Reggaebass, @mangotango, @jrixn1 and any other London / neighbourhood BC'ers who fancy making a night out of it please drop me a line and we can get this organised.

But not everyone uses headphones when playing at home.
-
@King Tut - disagree, the bass sounds just great through a decent pair of headphones The whole mix is very well balanced - what was the sound recorded through? And frankly you guys are great - would love to see you play live next time you're playing in London and my lot are not!

Please, please don't give me any more excuses not to change my old bass strings ๐ Btw if Jamerson's playing could in any way be associated with a 'dead / lifeless' tone then I suspect we all need to give up right now!

Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex
Al Krow replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
I was guessing earlier in this thread that the step up in processing power from the Stomp to the QC would be equivalent to going from a Zoom MS-60B to a Stomp. That's actually not going to be far off: Doug from DG has confirmed that the QC has "twice the CPU of a Helix Floor/Rack/Fractal AX8/FM3" in a Helix HX sized package. In other words 4x the processing power of the Stomp. Add in touch screen UI, profiling like AxeFx, Kemper and live usability of 10 stomp switches and there's a LOT to like about this! It's going to be one to keep an eye out for as will NAMM 2021 when the competition, whom I suspect will have been a little blindsided by this, will have had time to react. Never been a better time to be into multifx - amazing just how much mulits have developed over just the past 3 years since the launch of the Zoom B3n and Helix was still in development in Line6's labs. -
Very much hoping you might have a few clips you can share of you playing reggae live with some of your bands!

Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex

Not really. Given the processing power and price differential. Bit like comparing a Stomp with a Boss MS-60B methinks. Another recent review, this time by Premier Guitar: https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/29838-neural-dsp-introduces-the-quad-cortex -

Love the UI. Looks awesome. -
@Rich - loved that! Always jealous of a great horn section!

Basket Case - Green Day Had to fight to keep that one in the set from the Toto lovers in the band. But the punters seem to really rate it. May even get BRX's nod of approval ๐

Don't tango with Mango if you want to avoid Spector GAS!

Your set must be gobsmackingly amazing then
-
Don't Stop Me Now - Queen @mcdaddy - dunno if it's worth collating the suggestions into your OP, so that you don't get the 234th suggestion of Valerie as we get to page 33 of this thread? ๐

"You talking about the guy who's playing the 5 string guitar mate? Well he's not very good at chords is he?" ๐
-
Yup gonna be using it on Sat (haven't restrung my Yammy yet which needs to a good seeing-to on that score). But if it sounds totally sh*ite it will have nothing to do with poor bass technique and be entirely down to me not using a compressor (again).

Hah - you spotted that link far too quickly! Not sure whether your particular fetish has any linkage to baldness but, if so, it would explain a thing or two... But please let me assure you, good sir, that whilst the krispn and I may have exchanged electrical items and the occasional fluids over the years these have been limited to bass pedals and his own tasty beer.
-
But 16.5mm string spacing? You can get an identical spec used one for a lot less (just sayin'!).
-
Nah - it can just turn into a "Best-buys 2020" thread ๐

Wow deja vu!! There's this geezer, who's not a butler, but likes playing up to Egyptian gods in his spare time who posted a review of these exact same 3 amps about 3 years back (excellent review btw). Let me see if I can dig out... The right answer, in case you're wondering. is the GM 800. (I obviously got it wrong and bought a DG M900) Here you go:
-
Thank gawd for that. Ok folks, we can all relax now...๐ Are you feeling lonely out there? (Btw are you Finn or Dave or Dave Finn or the obvious Finn Dave?? If the latter - what's the story?)
-
Don't you have to be "in" before you can be "officially out". Or is that different to what you've been told for the past few decades? ๐
-
For sure. But this was a really good explanation of the further discussion: And, in particular, around the subject of having a pedal board with a compressor on it which is perhaps the most relevant point for your average BC'er.
-
Ah but it's about the journey as much as the destination, right? ๐
-
Great news - well done mate! But are they really giving you a 2010 PS-6 to review? (Nice feature set but it has pretty dismal latency. There that's one done ๐).

Many BC'ers swear by compression. Others never bother and haven't lost any bookings or sleep over it. 99% of bass players can't dial in a compressor to save their lives. 99% of the bass players @chris_b has come across in 40 years of bass playing don't use one live. @51m0n has the patience of a saint. Mostly. Did I miss anything? ๐
