  1. But not best vocalist, nor the best looking (obviously with the best haircut) or most able to compete with your pet dog?
  2. Really pleased you managed to get it sorted and that you're loving the bass! Clearly you were unlucky to be in 2.5% to 5% failure rate that someone else on another thread mentioned was an electronics industry accepted rate of failure. But that figure may be hearsay, so don't necessarily take it as gospel! Btw you could probably entirely eliminate the volume drop on switching pups, in your case by either slightly lowering the P pup height or slightly raising the J pup height - but I'm sure you're very familiar with doing that already.
  3. Nah - ok that's fair enough. I guess I've just been very fortunate not to have had any bits of gear blow up over the past 7 years during a gig, which is colouring my view of life. But tbf, I've mostly had a simpler set up for much of that time i.e. bass-->amp & cab, job done! And 7 years is not nearly as long as the ancient Egyptian empire has been around for. Btw - out of interest how many of your blow ups / kit failures have occurred in the past 10 years? I'm kinda hoping gear reliability and QC may have improved since the 80's.
  4. Very nice indeed & I'm well jealous! 😁

Be really interested to get your feedback Stew on a side by side comparison. @andruca - boxy mids are never nice and can vary depending on the instrument, venue and rig. My approach has always been to avoid them entirely rather than emphasise them - am I missing something?
  6. Yup. My 1025 is 4.4kg / 9.7 lbs and the P35 was 4.6kg / 10.1 lbs, not a massive difference I know, but over a 2 hour gig the 1025 edged it in terms of comfort for me. But if you can comfortably manage a TRB 5Pii, then everything else will seem like helium 😁 And bear in mind also the P34 will be a little lighter than the P35.
  7. Sold.
  8. Still not quite following your logic. As you pointed out: "I've read somewhere that the electronics industry accepts a failure rate of between 2.5 and 5% of electronic products, so anywhere between 1 in 20 and 1 in 40. I guess it was my turn with my first Stomp. But considering the numbers of units sold, there still seem to be very few reports of failures so I don't think it's as perhaps a big an issue... " Based on this you would be mega unlucky to have a second Stomp fail on you, and some of your "back-up" options e.g. DG AO Ultra, EBS Microbass 2 and the GK Plex are definitely not cheap bits of gear, given that your Stomp is already delivering everything you need? But, hey, if it's just a case of wanting to try out another bit of quality gear, well fair enough. It's not like many of us make do with just one bass...
  9. Portamento arrived I take it?! You liking it so far? Hopefully it will provide you with a distraction from further viewing of the OP 2015 Retros clip 😁
  10. @ubit et al, please take note. Short back and sides is fine if you're a mod, but not if you're a rocker.
  11. Nice rig! What's the amp. I'm not surprised you're loving the BB1025 - mine has outlasted two 425s, a 735A and even a P35! The P35 was definitely a slightly nicer, more refined, bass, but my particular one was unfortunately just a little too heavy for me and also a little too heavy for both the original owner and the person I sold it on to! But all three of us loved the tone and quality.
  12. Wow! What a stunning example of a BB3000A - have you owned it for quite a while / do you know its back story?
  13. ...or your Ibby Portamento. I know, I know...we all have more gear than we ever make good use of! Which is why I've had a mega pedal cull this year and my most recently bought bass has been in my herd for over 12 months. But it doesn't stop us window shopping does it? 😁 And based on what I've seen of it so far, I'm definitely leaning towards trading in my Helix HFX for the Core at some point in the next few months.

@andruca - thank you, both the above posts look really useful / helpful and I look forward to having a careful listen later, although I appreciate it's sometimes hard to hear things on a recorded clip in the way that you can with the amp & cab next to you. Do your clips above A/B the B1(X)-4 with your MS-60B / B3? A direct side by side comparison of the same clean signal e.g. via a looper might be the easiest way to bring out the difference.
  15. Haha - I thought your view was I would buy, get bored with and sell the pedal before you had got around to buying it, so you could snaffle it up at a discount...well that didn't happen with the SY-1. It's still here on my board (and hasn't needed to be replaced because it blew up mid gig within 6 months) 😁 Yup never bought the Mooer GE 300...lol if we had to buy every piece of gear that we started a thread on there'd be a few bits of kit you're still to get (Zoom B1-4?), and Dave would be on the hook for a Core, which would be great as I would gladly take off his hands in six months time!

Yeah - but that's very subtle and you have to listen out carefully for it; it's pretty indiscernible when you start playing. I don't think it is the level of noise that @andruca is referring to, which sounds like what you would get with a non isolated PSU.

Seems to me you either had a defective unit or you've got other issues in your signal chain e.g. a non isolated PSU. Quite a few of us have or have had both a B1-4 and an MS-60B and I'm not aware of any one else complaining about noise on either pedal.
  18. 4.5kg = 10 lbs would be completely fine for me, but I'm guessing it's actually going to be nearer to 5kg? Haha - good luck with that. They are a rare and special beast! (Other than their weight).
  19. Yup agreed - and given the SY1000 actually costs more than the GT 1000, it wouldn't make any commercial sense to give that away for free in another pedal.
  20. They have a great reputation as one of the very best of the Yammy range, although on the heavy side. How much does yours weigh?
  21. It was simply missing a low B string 😁
  22. Yup agreed on the lack of SY-1. Need to go down the trad octave -> fuzz-> filter route for a synth sound. Bear in mind the SY-1 is not an actual synth waveform generator, in the way the C4 and FI are, but a synth emulator and this is also true of Helix. The Core does have a filter, though, but seems a lot more limited than Helix currently on that score. So filter and synth fans will be holding on to their existing filter and synth pedals with the Core, as indeed a lot have with Helix as tbf they're not considered to be a strong point for Helix either. Multifx do struggle with filter and synth generally and haven't matched what dedicated pedals are delivering in this area.
  23. You're clearly a man of exceptional taste 😁 Congratulations! And let's get to see the rest of the bass soon!
  24. Which I presume is most days (in terms of "when required")? 😂
