There were something like 42 viewing the thread that led to the public apology EDIT: wow, that thread has 12,000+ vews!
Phew, 42! Guess that puts my 27 in the shade a bit.

Following the 'Public Apology' thread, still very active as I write, I noticed at one point there were 27 viewers at one time looking in and I was just wondering if there are any stats as to what is/was the largest number of viewers looking at a thread at the same time? Has anyone else noticed this particular detail? (Or do I need to get out more? ) I don't know if this is something that can be tracked here anyway. I know we can see 'most users online' etc on the home page, but I was curious about individual discussions (as above). Mods? Cheers.

Lovely looking bass! For all the weird and wonderful, exotic basses out there, with however many strings we want to have - I see something like this and think, yeh, that's all you really need! Hope she plays as good as she looks!!

Ah, this just brought back the memory of seeing John Martyn on the 'Grace and Danger' tour back in 1981 at the Dominion Theatre, London. This was with another lovely fretless player - John Giblin. Plus Phil Collins on drums. Great gig!

Veeeery interesting! What's the weight of this bass? And how does it feel physically against your body when playing?
how good are those Stingray 5s.. ive only played the 4 strings..are they similar.. I did love the Sterling..wicked slap tone..
I've not had a Sterling though like 'em and may go for one in the future. For me, the StingRay does it all. It's a bloomin' workhorse! And with the extra low B string on the 5, it just expands the scope that bit more. Obviously a wider neck but not too wide (at least for me). In 40-odd years of playing I've had a ton of basses (and guitars), some I would dearly love to have back again, but the 'Ray has been with me up and down the UK and across Europe over the last 12 years and has honestly never let me down.

Have to be my StingRay 5.
indeed i have! i have the vesta ovd overdrive, brilliant pedal, and for the price i got it for, right chuffed hows the delay?
Yeh, build quality is good on these babies (i.e. - not plastic! ) The MDX controls (Delay Range [2 - 512 ms pre-sets], Depth, Feedback, Multi, Rate and Effect Mix) allow for a huge range of sounds including chorus, phase and flange as well as delay of course. A bit of experimentation is needed to find what you want but it's good fun and works well in most situations. Sorry about the naff pic. I just did a quick search online and it was the only one I could find.
here's my bit of trace beast and friends really is the dogs bollocks
Hey, bassmankev, I just spotted you also have an old VestaFire pedal and was curious as to what model it is? I've had their MDX (Digital Delay with Modulation) pedal since about the mid-80's. Aside from having to replace the switch a few years back, it's still going strong.
Nice gear too, i've just gone back to using trace gear after trying loads of other stuff, you can't beat it.
Glad you've seen the (green) light! Welcome back to the club...
Finally, if you or any of your band mates have been stupid enough to remove the earth wire from their amps (some people do it to reduce hum) give them a smack in the face for being an idiot and reconnect it.
In fact, why not give the guitarist a smack in the face anyway - just for the hell of it!! And 'cos he's a guitarist...

Pretty much the same for me. I always use a good alkaline jobbie (Duracell+ etc) but they last forever. I changed my SR5 battery for a new one earlier this year for the first time in ages though there was still life in the old one!

That l'il ol' shop in Denmark Street has one smack dab in the middle of their window. Lovely looking bass.
MB1. I stepped upon the platform the man gave me the news,....he said.... "you must be jokin' son where did you get those shoes?" ......Care for a Pretzel?
Hmm, I'm sure there's some logic to your post....! (ouch! )

Now there's a blast from the past! I must admit to remembering these guitars having first seen them myself around the early 70's. If you've not already discovered it, the Toneshed website has a whole bunch of info on Micro-Frets instruments though they're apparently still looking for more pics and literature...
Alive in America appears to be contentious, but I love it! Killing solo on Green Earrings, great versions of Peg and WB's Book of Liars....and new life breathed in Babylon Sisters. Some tracks were overdubbed in the studio, unfortunately, but still excellent!
Hmm, I never thought of 'Alive In America' as being contentious; maybe I missed a previous BC topic on this. Good live album in my book, all the same.

I just happened to have 'Steely Dan - Alive In America' playing when I saw this post. 'The Nightfly' is an all-time favourite for me too. Still have the original vinyl as well as the CD and never get tired of playing it (or along with it). No offence tauzero, but +1 to everyone else's comments here prior to this.

Ain't she sweet!

Nice little TE collection there. Especially the 4x8 combo. V. rare! What's the power rating of that? The GP12 SMX pre-amp does it every time for me too!

The most awful bass video I think I have ever seen
Stingray5 replied to NJE's topic in General Discussion
Looks like this guy has adapted playing the 3-stringed Japanese Shamisen to his Fodera. Seems a bit pointless for this particular piece and you're right, it's still pretty messy all the same. Still, looks like he's having fun!!!! -
Wishbone Ash / Focus / The Groundhogs @ Shepherds Bush Empire next week.

Depends on your budget and other requirements but years ago I used to have a mk3 Granada 5-door hatchback and I could lay any of my basses in their case across the back (boot). One of the cases was a long '5-Star' semi-flight case. My Musicman and Hiscox cases were also no problem. I then 'upgraded' to a Scorpio estate (what can I say, I liked those big old Ford executive cars!) which was even better for me personally. I now run a Mondeo estate (mk 3) and can load my TE combo, 2x10 cab, gig box and two basses. And that's without putting the rear seats down! My alternative choice would be the latest Mondeo estate or the Volvo V70 estate. To expand slightly on HeavyJay's question, I wonder what other BassChatters use (or would like to use) to transport their kit around?
Just to give a background to this: UK mains sockets are shuttered - you can't just stick something into the holes when there isn't a plug in. The earth pin is longer than the other pins - it is therefore the first pin in, and when it goes in, the shutter is raised on the other two pins. At this point, the earth pin is in contact and the tips of the other two pins are also in contact. There's plenty of room under the plug body for someone to slip a finger in. The old plugs had live and neutral pins which were solid, completely exposed brass, so it was quite easy to put a finger on the live pin and be earthed at the other end, and to die as a consequence.
Thanks for expanding on that, tauzero. I knew someone more qualified would probably be able to shed more light on this.
