1. Did you try posting it on the Warwick forum? Pro-Ms aren't made anymore so there might be a few collectors with a wad of cash waiting! I've just spent a pile of money on a new Thumb, otherwise I would have taken this. Have a bump anyway... RB
2. It's funny, but one of the side effects of my new Thumb bass had been my increased noodling higher up the registers due to the fact that the action is so low and the tone consistent.
You is correct. The NT have 26 and as has been mentioned the NT Dolphin Pro I also has 26... though who the fook uses more than 12 is beyond me
3.
Nah his is only 24 frets, I think only NT Thumb's have the elusive 26th fret, that or the older NT Thumbs........ermmmmmmmmm John, please feel free to correct me!
My '05 NT has 26. RB
4. The short top horn means the fretboard hangs further out to the side than on other bases. It also cause the bass to sit further towards the horizonal. Your shoulder muscles will feel the stretch at first, but you can get used to it. A thick strap should help. I set the strap length so the the top horn sits just over my sternum - reasonably high. They're strange beasties for sure, but I'm loving mine!
5. Ibanez SR506 would be my choice - Great neck and action.
6.
No offers ? Anybody ? ...There's a Marleaux waiting for you !
It's probably because of the paint job, I'm afraid....
7. The black and the blue are a close thing for me.... Mmmmm... Mmmmm... Blue one!
8. Ahh, just a bit of grumpiness all round. Have a bump for a great bass. ^_^
9. Okay, well I'll withdraw my comments then. Apologies.
I don't think anyone has a problem with offering advice. Its doing it in the thread which is the issue. PM might be a better way of raising it.
10. Hey mate, If you can, hold onto it. £750 is crazy price, but even so alot of folk are waiting for the other shoe to drop with regard to the economy....
11. I'd happily buy a Squier to sit next to my Warwicks. ^_^ In fact, it just so happens that I have my eye on a Jaco Jazz VM fretless, having heard so many good things about them.
12. Leloupa: "Yes, there is a Moviqui frise top, a little layer walnut (between top and body) and a dibetou body. AHA ! So you think it will be possible to remove the painting.. ??" Mmm, I would say it's essential to remove the painting. It would certainly help the sale value, especially when one considers what's underneath it.
13. Is there a proper finish (with top) underneath the paint? If I picked this up that "artwork" would be off in a flash...
14. UV70's a great choice...
15. I'd buy this, but red ain't my thing! Never mind...
16. Great find! Loving the retro vibe. Is the neck straight? If so then it might be worth spending some money on it...
17. Doesn't old-man McCartney still drag his Hofner around on tour these days? For a guy worth hundreds of millions, his GAS has been restrained to say the least.... Perhaps he paid off Heather Mills with his bass fund!
18. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=21589 A Status bass going for £200 on this very board. They're quality instruments. The colour might not be your thing, but it would look great with a replacement black scratchplate.
19. There's cheap and then there's cheap and nasty. I'd personally stay away from these obscure brands. You're pretty much in Squier Affinity territory, so that's what you'd be best going for in my opinion. Squiers are perfectly decent instruments for the money. Here's an example from a random web store:- http://www.rockingrooster.co.uk/product_info.php?PID=355
20. I think I was the one what done it. He just seemed to have a lot of front, or perhaps I'm getting old and cynical.... I'll keep me gob shut from now on.
21. "With strong backing vocals and great image." read: "Dresses like us." "There is no advance at the moment, but that's not far off". Mmmmm.... "WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR MUSO'S OR FUNK BASS PLAYERS" Read: "The guitarist wants you to play root notes". "It's about the songs and the music and being a great band." ..and the image - don't forget the image!
22. Should be the last two numbers as far as I know. Not sure about earlier versions, but my Thumb has "05" for, yep you guessed it, 2005.
anyone know I think its a 98 but unsure thanks
23. Can't stand Level 42. Try Larry Graham (Sly and Family Stone), Marcus Miller, Les Claypool (Primus) and Bootsy Collins. Stuart Zender (ex Jamiroquai) had some great licks that will be instantly recognizable, but perhaps he's already known to you...
