Bugger, I grew up playing U2 and I can play them like the back of my hand. Here is a You Tube clip of me playing New Years Day, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCe2fba51EY Such a shame I am so far away as I would jump at the chance of doing this.
I didn't realise how lucky I was Playing in a U2 tribute band never sounded so good http://www.youtube.com/vertigou2band Check out the Slapped Gloria Solo on an Alembic Series II we've just got back together after 6 months off...... If you TribU2e Boys ever make it north and need a dep... gimme a shout Good luck finding a new Adam, after learning the U2 songs I have a sort of respect for what he does, the bass is usually pretty integral to the song without ever being too in your face, his simple lines are quite melodic and seldom just "ape" the Edge's guitar parts. Technique wise he's not exactly Victor Wooten but would Victor's approach work in the context of U2 ? By his own admission he's a player of modest ability, however he does a good job of joining up the Band's metronome (Edge's delays) with Mullen's precise drumming, very little room for sloppy timing in a U2 trib !! The thing about not starting a solo on the root is good advice, just becoming aware of some of this stuff myself ! Thanks for starting this thread I went to see Victor Wooten in Glasgow last year, I was bewildered with his solo-ing ability. One of the lads I went with is totally on the ball with theory and is an awesome player. He told me that any good player has a box of musical phrases that they can trot out in any key, most of their "improv" solo's are combinations of these phrases. Made sense to me.... I bet most of us could identify a Jaco, Clarke, King or Miller solo after a couple of note. I guess it's because of their "typical" box of musical phrases executed with "their" technique. The fact of it is, most of us will never invest the time needed to develop this approach. I'm just a copycat too.......

Right...... All PM's answered.... Fair bit of interest in an outright sale of the DB750 - how come when you advertise for a swap everyone wants to pay cash.... but if you need a cash sale everyone wants to swap / px something still hoping someone comes out of the closset with a nice bass for me........ Cheers Mark
Is the DB410 4 ohm or 8 ohm? How much are you after for it?
Hi The DB410 is 4ohm I paid £750 for it and it's never been played at volume as it's never been out of the front room.... I believe you can actually get these for £699, I have the option to chop it back into the shop and get £650 as a credit note.... so selling it isn't a neccesity. errrrr....... I guess cash would give me more options so £550 (collected) would take it away Cheers Mark

I claimed the pickup selector was an LED controller (like the GB's Darling) which changed the colours of the Led's She asked me to turn them green again...... game over !! I cooked the tea and did the dishes that night......!!

Everyone likes a bargain.... me included but if you're not shopping on a budget then there are very few places you can go and try out a wide range of "vintage & rare" guitars / basses under 1 roof Places like V&R and the Gallery have tens of thousands of pounds tied up in stock (I know many will be on commission sale) premisis, staff and marketing to pay for. Unfortunately they can't operate and give the service they do and offer the choice they do without charging a premium for it. I guess we can either wait forever for a 1960 stack knob Jazz to appear in cash generators for £80 or look for an ellusive bargain on ebay..... if you want to buy something special today and have a choice, then we have to be realistic and expect to pay for it....... That said..... I don't expect to be shopping at V&R any time soon !

some of their prime sites are being eyed up by other music retailers, however the chances of someone buying the chain looks poor (IMHO)
