2. Hi Guys, I purchased from this forum just 8 weeks ago a rather nice Vintage Fretless PJ currently strung with Rotosound Flats it's a great entry into fretless only little issue is the nut has a piece chipped off the side, this doesn't affect the secure location of the string in the slot in any way, but I wanted to mention it GAS is attacking so it's up for grabs at a stupid price of £80 ONO - these sell in the shops at £239 and represent great value at that ! Price Drop to £70 collected Original for sale thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...intage+fretless NB the colour is best represented by the first photo, very Warwick Thumb sort of vibe !!
  3. GAS Attacks !!! I need to move some gear to make way for a new incoming Bass..... This is a top of the line Pro UHF True Diversity Wireless system not to be confused with the cheaper systems out there. I have previously used the Sennheiser EW172 system with decent results however this piece of Kit is in a different league all together A/B'd against a monster lead at home there is a subtle change in tone...... no loss at all, just a very slight alteration, similar to what you could expect from an AB comparison with 2 high quality leads The System comprises the Audio Technica AEW R4100 Reciever & thhe Audio Technica AEW T1000 Belt Pack Transmitter Untill recently this was a £1000 package, however you can now buy the system for the following prices online... R4100 Transmitter £449 http://www.proaudiosystems.co.uk/product-1717.html T1000 Belt Pack £239 http://www.proaudiosystems.co.uk/product-1716-1-1-267.html my Price for Quick sale is a Crazy £300 plus Shipping The units are in shop condition and have never been used outside my front room !
Yes - he used one early on in the Police, before he decided everything made after 1960 was crap.
my thoughts exactly.....
  5. The modern Overwater instruments are fantasticly well made and sound great... IMHO (but after a fair bit of exposure to both brands) they sound similar to a Fodera
  6. Thanks for the contribution to the thread...... good debate IMHO - Bass Player it too high brow and aimed at the pro player. (it's only recently they started to include Tab in their transcriptions) From a journalistic perspective I can see why it has it's followers BGM seems a little more broader in it's appeal with plenty content for the hobbyist...... there has been some decent product reviews and profiles but from my point of view plenty of interesting ground not yet covered.
  7.
There are,But to me 'Bass Player's' the best by a country mile,in content, research, humour, and general GOOD information.
agreed it's a great read, but what else is out there ?
  8.
Its not really a question of buying the most expensive drivers you can get but buying drivers that are the best match for the cab. When I was a lad and the only decision bass players had to make was whether to use one or two 15 inch drivers Electrovoice were the dogs danglies.
Fair comment I guess..... but how does one go about matching cabs to drivers without massive expense on trial & error ? I guess that's what the manufacturers / R&D depts are there to do It'd be really interesting to hear (for example) about someone transforming an Ashdown cab by inserting Celestians
  9. Great Thread.... After much faffing about..... Passive Fender Jazz (Ash / Maple) DR Fatbeams Monster Bass Cable Gallien Krueger Amps Just works in a live situation (IMHO)
  10. Guys, I suppose many bass cabs are built to a budget Price no object, what bass drivers would basschatters recommend ? Eminence seem to have a good reputation for bass drivers what experiences have you had in replacing stock drivers in well known manufacturers cabs ? Cheers Mark
  11.
Depends if you include watching Coronation Street first then having a beer ...
that's forplay..... doesn't count
  12. Guys, I buy Bass Guitar Magazine and the US mag Bass Player from time to time i've picked up other one of specials etc..... are there any others currently available ? Cheers Mark

  14.
And I thought I was bad as I'm on my 3rd TU2 Pedal!! Glad to see I'm not alone in my OCD Mark. Hmmm, OCD....that sounds like a decent pedal.....must get hold of 1 or 2 or 3....
If you sell that OCD pedal i'll have it

  16.
Now that's just unkind Still, a pint at the Holiday Inn might be just what I need.
now that does sound like a good idea !!
  17.
God that is so tempting Mark, Somebody please buy this before I decide I don't want a MB amp to go with the Mark Bass Cab that's gathering dust in my porch...... Glad I'm not doing any work up North for a few weeks - that would have been too much tempation.
Just give in Martin, you know you want it !! By the way i'm passing Sunny Donny on Wednesday on my way to Nottingham !!!
  18. Guys, Got a 2001 on the way (don't really need the power but you know) hence my mint GKRB700 II (4 months old) is up for grabs Cheapest you'll see this baby is £399 now Gator case id £60 so how does £275 sound for a quick sale ? I can take a pic if needed but it's mint condition and you know what they look like !! Cheers Mark

  20.
Yes I suppose it would be overkill in a venue that size... I'm not coming then Just joshing Going to see the Gangsters of Ska tonight, gigging in Blyth tomorrow and your gig Sunday, busy weekend!
I love the Gangsters....... P bass into an old Trace Rig - Lush tone, great band !!

    NoirBass

Tip Top Bloke this Noirbass !!! He turned up and gave me some cash..... only downside was he insisted I give him my Aguilar DB750 Thanks for hassle free sale Chris All the Best Mark
  22. I hope they get adopted as a pair.... shame to split them up
  23. The best money you'll spend is ripping out that 50c preamp and installing an Aguilar OBP1 !!
  24. I had my eye on a pair of Aggie 112's but i've missed out !! I'm stuck for ideas really..... after trying all soprts of Gear I've Kinda worked out that a Jazz Bass into a GK Head really works in a live situation, with the Seperate Horn amp in the head the GK Cabs make a fair bit of sense..... thinking about a GK212 neo and a GK115 neo, but i'm open to suggestions Damn that Aggie DB410 is a great cab.... gonna take some replacing !
