1. Addiction. A horrible, but unshocking and early end. Loved early STP.
2. Let's see how I get on with my search for the washers...
3. I've gone with the poll. After a massive level of voting (eight votes) it's been installed on the white one. Didn't need the blanking plate unless I'd wanted action about a centimeter off the neck. Pics to follow. P
4. My Thunderbirds have these machines on them: ...it's become apparent that the washers between the peg and the gear-housing needs attention - one of the black washers on the D split earlier tonight and on closer inspection they're all looking a bit poorly. Anyone got an idea of whether Grover do a refurb kit or if anyone who stocks these? I'm having a fairly fruitless search on the usual sources (Allparts etc.) Thanks Paul
5. Just get a Sansamp BDDI and ditch the last three on that list. Keep the Markbass as flat as you can (or if there's an effect loop, plug it into the return). With the Rick and the Jazz you'll get tone to die for.
6. As mentioned in a previous post, I'm picking up a Babicz FCH Thunderbird bridge on Tuesday. So a bit of fun. I'm down to two Gibsons now, my white one and my black gothic one, both currently fitted with Hipshot Supertone bridges. Which bass should I install it on? P
7. They're great strings. I bought a few sets in New York back in May. They were like $20 a set.

9. I know this is an old thread, but for 2016 Gibson seem to be dropping the Babicz and EB pickups/wiring and going back to pre-2015 specifications.
10. Picking one up from Bagshot next Tuesday. Weeee!
11.
this was mine, does it still have the custom pickguard I made or have you gone back to the original one? I really liked this bass, I only sold it because NancyJohnson asked so politely. Matt
I went with the original pickguard...it's so good. Man that bass has been to hell and back. Long, long story. I love it.
12. I have a large box of bulbs that came to me when we cleared out my dad's garage when he died (22 years ago last week...jeepers). I might have look through that tonight to see whether there's any bulb alternatives; the 12v is fine, more than enough, but 9v would be better. Wondering whether I could use 12v with a higher wattage to run at 9v for lower output.
13. I have it running 12v at the moment, so an extra power cable to the board. I did hook it up to 9v, but it's not bright enough. Long-term I'll probably upgrade the PSU to one that has a 12v out as well. I'd be happy making these up for anyone who wanted one - I'm sure I could source the individual components cheaper than going to Maplins. P
14. Heh, I swear my entire experience with compressors isn't limited to a YT video...I actually owned a EHX Black Finger for a little while, but really couldn't see the point so I sold it on.
15. I've just watched (and listened) to a short demonstration video uploaded by Bass Direct to You Tube; it covers a handful of compressors (models by EBS/MXR/TCE/DarkGlass). It's the usual stuff; a mystery hand switching each unit on and off, rotating a few knobs; all the while accompanied by some mentalist who unmusically slaps and pops their way through the entire video. I'm sorry, I know I'm not a big fan of effects pedals as such, but compressors? Aren't these just The Emperor's New Clothes? I understood these are supposed to be a way of boosting and squeezing your signal, but could hear very little effect from any of the pedals. All I could really make out was the slightest in tone change, which in truth I could probably achieve by tweaking my tone controls. What is the fuss with these units? If you open up one of these are you just going to find a box devoid of anything except a little LED light? Hmmm.
16. I bought an old Badtz Maru Musicmaster (look it up) and put a hotrails strat sized pickup in it. It's great...high output, drives nicely.
17. To me that's how a five string Stingray should look. I really don't have any affinity for the other version with the big scratchplate. Lovely.
18. Bought this as a lightweight backup about nine months ago, it's had occasional home use and been out for a couple of jams and just the one gig. Just for clarity, this ad is just for the amplifier only; I didn't go as far as to purchase the footswitch that can be used with this unit. If you want a padded gigbag for this, Gator make a 12.5" x 12.5" one available from Amazon for £27.00. It's clean, loud and Tone Print enabled (which frankly is a superb feature); I think I still have the original packaging in the attic. The sticker is just yellow Frog tape and will peel off. I feel the only reason I want to move it on is so I can effectively put together a backup that's closer to my main setup. Tradewise, the only things that spring to mind are a Tech 21 VT bass 500 head. Cheers P
