  1. Dad only had four albums. Two Don Williams, a Dolly Parton and a Greatest Hits of 1973 affair. Mum occasionally tuned in to Radio 2. As to influences, I'd go with my elder cousin who, when we were round Gran's house, would slip his collection of punk singles and albums on the turntable. "Turn that rubbish off!" ๐Ÿ˜€
  2. I gave it more than one minute and twenty seven seconds Listened to it three times, and there's a couple of half-decent tracks but it never really grew on me. I don't mind a bit of jingly-jangly alt-rock but this had a 'much of a muchness' feel about it, it just meandered along and there was a lack of decent 'hooks' to get hold of. The recording sound is good but the whole album didn't leave a lasting impression. Best tracks - Loosen Up, No Say and Wake the Breathing Light. Overall - 5/10
  3. I quite liked Clive Dunn's reggae phase. "Permission to Toast, Sir?" and "They Don't Like It Uptown" are dub classics.
  4. Hello, another member of the 'Disappointed With My Vocal Club' here. Tried to sound scary, ended up sounding like Malcolm McLaren ๐Ÿ™ƒ Our cheeky little heroine is off to school. Dunno how much work she'll get done, what with the mischievous and otherworldly nature of her classmates. They all seem a bit, well, y'know, rapaciously ravenous. She may well fall in with the wrong crowd, if she hasn't already... Recorded with Wavepad, Audacity and a Roland Micro Cube. Unbranded guitar using open C tuning with some delay in places, P-bass copy, Yamaha YPT240 keyboard, MT Drums and a handful of samples for screams and noises. Vox for those that are interested.
  5. Intriguing. I'm in. Looking forward to getting some Slovenian dub psychobilly with hints of samba ๐Ÿ‘
  6. Beatles Special Happiness Is a Warm Nun Yelp! Ciggies Paxman We Can Pork It Out Octopus's Warden Why Don't We Do It In the Toad? Dig a Pond In My Wife A Day In the Lift
  7. Yep, same for Walk Like An Egyptian, Walk This Way, The Way I Walk...and don't mention The Walker Brothers.
  8. Next one up is the Professionals at the Craufurd Arms in Wolverton in early November.
  9. Same here. Ordered tickets in January for the May gig in Corby that was then shunted to November and has now been cancelled altogether, got the news from Ticketmaster the other day. Not happy! Is that the reason? That was the excuse last time around. Their facebook page hadn't said anything about it the last time I looked.
  10. Extreme punk energy from the Irish social commentator Meryl Streek.
  11. Bravo, @MoonBassAlpha, nice one! ๐Ÿ‘
  12. Got rid of the 'Privacy' tab but I'm on a Samsung Android phone and can't clear it. Annoyingly, it covers the text I'm trying to read. Any easy way to get rid of it? This whole, shambolic Ezoics business is getting right up the noses of many Basschatters.
  13. And another for the pile. A rinky-dinky, jingly-jangly, plinky-plonky instrumental to soothe your worries and ease your way when you find yourself walking through a lake dressed as Audrey Hepburn carrying a combustible umbrella. As usual. Just a Sherwood solid-body electric mandolin and a Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard used this time. Recorded with Wavepad and Audacity.
  14. Yeah, I'm hoping my missus will write mine this month, too
  15. Congrats, Doc ๐Ÿ‘ enjoyed that, even if it was slightly unnerving in places! "Bubbles?" ๐Ÿ‘ป
  16. So you can have fun doing stuff like this. Loads of extra tones for that Arabic vibe.
  17. Here's mine, just. Holidays really get in the way of the recording process, don't you find? I nearly went down the route that @Dad3353 took with his nod to The Prisoner, seeing as it's one of my faves (see my profile pic). However, I've swerved into a completely different direction. A strange tale of being pestered by an annoying git who, for some reason, wants to ruin your day. 4 string cigar box guitar, 5 string guitar ร  la Keith Richards, cheapo Spider brand bass and MT drums. Recorded using Wavepad and Audacity.
  18. I feel differently in that I have no problem with scrolling past things I don't fancy engaging with. Of the 25 threads currently on the first page of Off Topic, I may delve into about six of them, and occasionally have a look at one with an interesting/bizarre title e.g. "Are those my feet?". The mods on here could tell us if it would be easy to rig up a system where you could have the option to hide a thread but it sounds like it could be a lot of unnecessary hassle for them. That's just my guess, I don't know, I'm not a computer systems person. Again, I can only reiterate it's probably best to ignore the threads you have no interest in. It seems the simpler option. I sympathise regarding some posts that make your brain hurt. In the DoI we have to cope with the unusual stylings of @Ricky 4000 ๐Ÿ˜
  19. Thanks for answering. May I suggest just ignoring it? It's very easy to scroll by. The 'Wordle' thread does nowt for me, but if it makes others happy I've no issue with it being there.
  20. My, my, I must pry. Why do you decry the DoI?
  21. Well done, that man ๐Ÿ‘ a fine tune!
  22. We thought that 54-46 That's My Number by Toots & the Maytals would have them all up and at it. We were wrong ๐Ÿ˜„ not a skanker in sight!
