  1. Better than it has any right to be: https://www.dv247.com/en_GB/GBP/Samson-C01-Large-Diaphragm-Condenser-Microphone-/art-REC0004572-000?campaign=keyword/GB&ProgramUUID=UF_AqJartfQAAAFlJkByjI.G&gclid=CjwKCAiA6Y2QBhAtEiwAGHybPWJ74AGay9qrZrSs-5mURHGiXcH9B_VzVNUWH9j4KSDha8jDchcvaBoCDcIQAvD_BwE
  2. Know what you mean ... I only really notice it when I think about it. Most of the time it's so constant that my brain gives up concentrating on it, and complaining about it. 🙄
  3. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.
  4. A PRS Levy sounds an awful lot like an unofficial tax that the venue is charging you ... best bet is that it will disappear straight into the venue manager's pocket. I've taken part in many, many jam nights at many, many venues, even organised a few myself. Nobody has ever even mentioned PRS, because it's the venue's liability to pay it. Best estimate? This is a blatant scam.
  5. If that's a fully-functional and all-original Dalek, complete with Exterminator, then it might actually be worth £4k. I'm not a fan of the relic'd, re-issued Daleks and they rarely exterminate nearly as well.
  6. Is it him you're looking for?
  7. Hmmmm. Site's not doing well today, is it? Another duplicate post.
  8. I do well in hearing tests, too. Thing is, tinnitus isn't 'real'; it's literally in the mind. Where you can't get at it. 🤔

  10. While you're at it, some more basic information would be helpful. What does this bass weigh? What is the scale length? What is the string spacing? What do the control knobs do?
  11. Far Canal ... what size of venue are you playing to need that much volume? In my bands, we have low-volume backline and put everything through our PA. On stage (clubs and pubs) we can hear ourselves just fine and nobody gets to go deaf. It helps if you tilt back the 210 against the back wall, and stand as far forward from it as you can. Personally I'd lose the 115 immediately. YMMV
  12. And then of course there's combining a Digitech Drop with a 5-string bass, which is what I do and will be doing again tonight. Because our vocalist can't reach Radar Love in F# (original key) we play it in E. There's no way that I can get the feel of the original if I play that bassline in E, regardless of whether I choose the open E string or 5th fret on the B string, but the pedal does the job nicely.
  13. My solution was to stop trying to use Jazz basses. Sorry.
  14. There you go ... sorted. No need to thank me. 😉
  15. The main thrust of the discussion seems to have veered towards the rights & wrongs of sound limiters and playing at low (sensible) volumes, but that would not be my concern in this situation. I have no problem working with sound limits and I personally hate overly loud bands anyway, but that doesn't mean that I'd be prepared to insist that my band gives up an afternoon's work/pay in order to - effectively - audition for the venue, still less take full responsibility for anything going wrong. The venue will be earning serious money from this event. They want my band to play for them (i.e. audition for their sound limited to get onto their approved list)? Fine, they can pay for that. They don't want to pay? Fine, sex & travel.
  16. I'm impressed at how clean and dry the barns are near Bognor Regis. It's almost as if that bass has never been near a barn in its existence ...
  17. I just hope the fee is large enough to justify all the electrons that have been sacrificed to this thread! My advice can be summarised thusly: Sex and Travel. One to walk away from.
  18. Hi Richard, good to see you're keepin' busy. 😎 IMHO the audio (and your playing) deserve rather better video quality than this!
  19. If what you want to do is (a) learn to play 5-string and (b) remain married, then this would seem to be the simple option. At that price, you haven't 'spent' £199, you have converted £199 worth of cash into £199 of bass, and you can convert back again at any time.
  20. Best value in the BC Marketplace today (IMHO, YMMV, the value of basses may go down as well as up) =
  21. You're over-thinking this ... just open a specialist bass shop and you'll have the run of the stock. Until you go bust.
