Has anyone gone to the Leeds College of Music ?Lenny B replied to ML94's topic in General Discussion I went, but from 94-97 - I guess it's changed a bit since then... Had fun though!

Ha ha! In my band I switch between fretless 4 string (Active) and 8 string (Passive) - I use the 8 string with the EHX Freeze pedal to do some drones at the beginning of songs, so i can get that going, and then turn the volume down on that bass and switch. If only I'd seen this 2 days ago! I actually bought a £20 mini-4-channel mixer from Maplins on Tuesday, which does the job but not as well as this. Don't suppose you'd fancy a maplins mixer in p-x would you....?

Making my Jazz Cafe debut tomorrow with Los Desterrados, having an album launch party It's pretty niche music, Jewish Sefardi (which means flamenco, middle eastern and north african based, but we do rock it up a little. Should be fun, clips and links here, do come if you fancy Len The gig: http://mamacolive.com/thejazzcafe/listings/upcoming-events/8523/los-desterrados-album-launch/ The albums: http://losdesterrados.com/shop.html The band: www.losdesterrados.com / https://www.facebook.com/pages/Los-Desterrados/169395749812277
It's one of those things that you get used too with practice and I found that I had to change the way that I played certain songs. Great sound though, so it's worth it.
Agreed - I've been really enjoying mine. I don't use it on every song, but it really suits some of them. Just stick with it. I also have my E strings tuned down to D, and it sounds HUGE! Like this... (not actually me in the clip btw...) Groove or Rock, Can a player excel at both ?Lenny B replied to hamfist's topic in General Discussion How could I forget this? This and the Chilis was really my gateway from the world of rock to the world of funk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2nqZCSnN1U And this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzEJvHE_rEg Actually, just any live p-funk really.

Groove or Rock, Can a player excel at both ?Lenny B replied to hamfist's topic in General Discussion Yes. John Paul Jones for 1. He does both at the same time, his rock really swings and has a groove. And Flea, when he still grooved (I really don't enjoy the last couple of RHCP albums, but love BSSM). And not that anyone can back me up on this, but I think I can - I enjoy both and have always played both (but admittedly did have a few years when I rocked much less) - I'm just as happy playing Megadeth as James Brown

My latest; Boss Tuner => MXR Octave Deluxe => MXR El Grande Fuzz => 3 Leaf Proton => MXR Bass Compressor => EHX Small Stone Nano => EHX Freeze => MXR Carbon Copy => Sansamp BDDI Still playing around with the order of the Octave/Fuzz/Filter/Compressor - the compressor after those 3 helps tame the peaks of when I've got them all going, but it does build up a bit of noise... But plenty of versatility here, covers everything i need for my band and various random gigs. Thinking there may be just enough room for an EBS Chorus at some point (which would give me a flanger as well), but don't need to spend anymore for a while...
I don't have Flood, but I think it's a sort of 'best of' compilation of stuff from the above three albums.
Great album, will have to dig that out now. Love this stuff

A mate of mine from work's getting married in June (Herts area) and has asked me to help him find a band - loking for a mix of 60's rock 'n roll to indie pop - nothing too heavy but maybe a couple of ROCK! If anyone has any recommendations or links to your band, do please let me know Cheers
