**price drop - £150 off** - BARGAIN FOR A SWEET VINTAGE INSTRUMENT For sale / for trade is my black 1978 Mustang bass. Bought it for a project that folded soon after and it's not been used since. It has a sweet action, sounds great with flats and looks the business (all wear original). Weight is 4kg. Tried to take as many pics as I could but if you want any more give me a shout. Looking for a 5 string USA Precision bass (plus a bit of cash) or perhaps something similar - the main criteria is the string spacing and needs to be passive. Ideally meet up but shipping can be arranged.

I use Google Docs spreadsheet - that way is always available whenever I am.

Yup. The result of having to sight read some truly terrible charts over the years from people who should have known a lot better!

And one of the problems of music notation is that it isn’t always hard and fast (helpfully) and there are often multiple ways to skin a cat. As @Nickthebass says either is fine as it’s a straight forward rhythm. It might come down to your notation software as to which way it comes out. Erring on the side of caution is always good. My main rule is... ”if I was sight-reading this on a gig (I.e never seen it in my life) what would be easier to read...” ...this includes not only rhythmic notation, but actual layout on the page, use of repeats, D.S’s, other structural notes, chord symbols etc etc.

Yup. This. First example is the clearest and is what you’ll get if use Sibelius or something similar. Second one is ok too but not something you see very often - beaming into the rests is extraneous information and not really needed as the rest already tells you how long it is.

Eb major for sure. D# major DOES NOT EXIST as a key signature so ignore what the rest of his post!

Keep posting then but also PM me them and I’ll look over them properly when I’m back from holiday and ongoing . Happy to help!

Yes of course thanks for clarifying that- as always there’s exceptions to the rule which is what can make explaining this all much trickier. Plus I was writing on my phone so didn’t have chance to give a full an explanation as I’d like!

Looking good however there are a few issues - firstly you should group all rests where possible - so a quaver and a semi-quaver rest can become a dotted quaver rest for example. Secondly each crotchet note should be clearly demarcated so you should never have notes that cross over crochets - e.g. the end of bar two is rhythmically correct but basically impossible to read. You need to break that down into two crotchets worth of material - so if needed be you could draw a vertical line between each crotchet — anything which crosses over you should use a tie for. Am in Greece on phone so can’t be of more use than that but look at any bit of written music that contains semi quavers and hopefully you’ll see. Good luck!

Really ‘dead’ with no resonance and lower in volume as I recall. Not sure what the fix would have been as I’m not a luthier but I know that almost as soon as I started playing it I was like ‘nope, this is NOT an instrument that’s can be used professionally’. Shame as it looked great and seemed well built. I guess that’s the danger of custom built stuff BUT it should actually do they job it’s supposed to!

I was. Bought a five string from them. The low B string was basically unplayable but his response was 'unlucky it's a custom order'. Shocking. Never gone anywhere near them since.

Pedal clear out - EHX, Bearfoot, tech 21 etc All sorted now thanks.
