You could just put a pre-amp pedal in front of your current amp if you're happy with everything else it does - Dave Hall, Sansamp, Behringer etc all do good grit-adding pedals. Hard to say on paper what power of amp would be best - tube, solid-state, class-D would all be different answers.
Man, that colour is killer! Wish that was an option when i'd ordered mine, so very jealous! Grats on the new cab!
Cheers - I was going to go for just black covering with the oxblood grill but took the risk on the green, I really like it - looks good in the house but on dark stages it's probably just going to look black (which is good as it's not too flashy).

White cabs?! Very brave.

The two below ads are in the classifieds of this forum - very close to your budget & both great cabs for the money (I have no affiliation to either). http://basschat.co.uk/topic/282678-tks-s112-x2-compact-and-lightweight-cabs-padded-covers-l550/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/276716-bergantino-cabinets-two-ex112-with-covers-price-drop-now-l500/

I've got an 80's Korean Strat which is awesome - plays & sounds incredible, the body is quite heavy but that's not a problem for me (I only noodle at home on the guitar & it's still lighter than most basses).

Is this live tone, band rehearsals, studio recording or home practice tone? They're all very different for me so I'd be wary about suggesting anything (and so getting you to spend your hard earned) without knowing, otherwise you'll end up going round in circles & be a lot poorer at the end of it. Saying that, I am another believer in the funny because it's true "all in the fingers" mantra - personal technique makes a huge difference; I've heard people playing my bass through my amp & it sounds completely different! If you desperately want to spend some money I would say the cab sounds like the weak link though - nothing wrong with your other stuff.
I'd not use one on its own, but then I'd say that about the other 2 as well.
I understand what you mean - I wouldn't use just one with my metal/hardcore band as it just wouldn't cope (though I think two would sound great) but my pop/rock band play small venues & have a pretty low stage volume so I think it'll be fine - plus in order to get to the gigs I have to walk a mile, get the train, move around the London tube network then walk to the venues so it needs to be something I can fit on a trolley yet still kick out some volume!
The S112 is a beautifully sounding cab isn't it? Pretty too! I have a pair of blue ones... without the V frame. Hmmm, I maybe should have gone for that. They look amazing!
I think I've seen your blue ones - very nice! The v-frames are very much a faux-vintage thing, some people hate it but I think they look quite smart & I need the cabs to look as nice as possible because I keep them in the dining room or lounge so have to keep the girlfriend happy!

No tweeters for me - I really don't think the cab needs it (though that may just be my sound).

NCD! Well it's finally here - 6.5 week wait since ordering but that's all forgotten now I've got it home. Had a good try-out of everything bassgear had to offer & the tks s112 really spoke to me when I heard them. I was really tempted by the aguillar sl112 which seemed to be more bassy but lacked a little definition. Another option was a tiny pjp 4x5 thing which was quite incredible but I didn't think it would be able to hack my current bands different needs (really impressive for the size though). The tks is a funny little cab - seems very polite at low-ish volumes but it's very clear & articulate/musical. But once you crank up the volume (not ridiculous as I'm still in the house) & maybe one notch of bass and it really kicks - the cab definitely has its own tone & I think that's what attracted me, its just the sound I'm after whilst still being very responsive to instrument/eq changes. Just the one for now - will get another one in a couple of months once I've properly given this one a few blastings. I can't tell from the photo's but are you sure they're not combi-plugs? Though I may be able to check next week at rehearsal as I think I'm in the the studio that uses these amps. How did you like the sound?
Imitation and flattery are all very well, but people have a living to make. Even if you don't like ML (and I don't), he's entitled to say it's his image, his songs are his intellectual property and that people out there making good money out of them should pay him for the privilege.
But that's got nothing to do with the law-suit in question. The issue was the website name was passing-off as Meatloaf - if the website had been the tribute's performing name, Batoutofhell.com or just meatloaftribute.com it would have been fine but just using the original name & having a different ending is not ok & will always lose in court. It's really not got much to do with being a tribute artist & all to do with the naming of the website which is why the compensation was so small. Assuming the tribute artist did gigs & ML wrote [at least some of] his own music ML will be receiving his fair share of earnings from the tribute's usage anyway via venue music licensing.

Might be worth getting a professional to look at your posture whilst playing (ie how high/low you have the bass) & your technique in terms of how hard you grip the neck - I had a friend with the same issue (though on guitar) & part of his problem was squeezing the neck too hard when fretting. If you're desk-bound at work your company should pay for a work-place assessment - someone comes in & makes sure your screen/chair arms/desk height etc.. are all correct for your body.
-
Out of curiousity what three amps did you blow & what kind of EQing do you do that's liable to fry things?
-
Only if the other artists were also being naughty with their web-addresses. This hasn't really got anything to do with being a tribute act, it's about improper use of domains & using someone else's name to generate revenue for yourself.
-
It'll be more than enough with just a decent 8 ohm cab - two 8 ohm cabs & it would be thunderous! This is a proper solid-state amp which is perfect for pubs & clubs - very solidly built too, not the lightest or smallest but then it's not designed to be light & small.
-
It's not going to fill a stadium but it should be more than enough for most pub/club gigs assuming it's paired with a reasonable cab - I've been gigging with a 300w amp for years with no problems.
-
That is a monster cab! Do you have any size/weight/budget requirements? Someone is selling a Warwick Tubepath in the classifieds on here which I think would go well (and that age of Warwick amps are awesome).
-
It'll work completely fine & easily be enough. Plus the MB-BF combination is evidently very popular on this forum as I'm sure you can see!
-
I really like them - I use one quite often at one of the rehearsal studios I use. They're Orange so you kind of know what you're going to get - a nice vintagey clean tone & lots of over-drive options. The EQ doesn't seem to do a whole lot but I do like the blend option for the drive - works very well & is a believable approximation of OD. Definitely try before you buy; their core tone is good but then I do like that sound. *Edit - this is the "rack" head I'm talking about, not the new combo.
Both of my Fender tweedy ones gave up, causing me all sots of odd problems - they don't support the outer cable well at all where it goes into the jack connector, just heat shrink which allows he cable to fracture over time . Replaced them with OBBM's lovely ones which have Neutrik jacks with proper glands to support the cable and a speaker cable too and have had no more issues. Fender ones in he bin. OBBM is your man.
Yeah I was in a predicament where OBBM couldn't help (needed a lead in the next 10 minutes) - I'll see how it goes, it's doing very well so far & does look nice so I'm not discounting the Fender one just yet.
-
Go there - got some great stuff in that often isn't available in a lot of other music stores. Plus the pubs in Reading are terrible for food so you'd have to go out to one of the villages for a decent pub lunch anyway.
-
I've always liked whirlwind leads but was recently in need of another so bought one of those fender custom shop tweed ones because I'm a tart- quite nice & seems like decent quality. Got an obbm speaker cable though & its very good.

The LTDs generally go for 3/400 more than the standard editions of the same model & year used so that should give you a rough ball park. Markets always balance themselves out (I.e. it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it) - if you really want to know a valuation put it for sale on a free website like Gumtree or Facebook at the top end of the above & see if you get any nibbles. You can always withdraw it afterwards.
Yes, I noticed that one. Black only for me...
Fair enough, good to know they can put it in a wider box though.
Matamp make a nice 2x12 neo bass cab don't they? And they're known for their chunky tube heads...
Actually there's one for sale in the classifieds on here that was only bumped a couple of weeks ago (no affiliation).
