  1. I think it was the hype that ultimately killed the poor bloke.
  2. I can appreciate them now but didn’t at the time. I guess having listened to Mudhoney, Pixies, Buthole Surfers etc for a while it just didn’t sound that new to me. They wrote good tunes though.
  3. Not sure if he has been mentioned already but always loved Dusty Hills playing even though I’m not really a ZZ Top fan. The sound and look of the bass was perfect for the band.
  4. Sheriff fat man - Carter USM
  5. Phat Planet - Leftfield
  6. Sister Ray - Velvet Underground
  7. Shoplifters of the world - The Smiths
  8. Ball and chain - Martin Harley
  9. Punk - Gorillaz
  10. Apparently it was light and looked fine upside down for a lefty!
  11. They are definitely Marmite. They do sound amazing though and everyone seems to really enjoy playing them. I suspect they are the Stingray’s more able sibling but sadly hit every branch of the ugly tree. Edit: I don’t ever want to play one for this reason as I suspect it would be better than my Stingray and I would have to swap one of the best looking basses ever made for one of the all time fugly basses!
  12. Wasn’t he primarily a guitarist before the Beatles? A short scale less bulky instrument may just feel more natural?
  13. Pickup types: P = Precision J= Jazz PJ = Both In terms of the Mustang bass the PJ variant rather than the trad Mustang pickups.
  14. Money (Dollar Bill) - Whitey Ford
  15. The passenger - Iggy Pop
  16. Fast car - Tracy Chapman
  17. I’m not sure how temporary this situation is. If the jitters in China start to become more serious there could be a sharp drop in lending worldwide. In theory this should be deflationary but the situation is so FUBAR anything could happen.
  18. In a lonely place / new order
  19. Fight for your mind - Ben Harper
  20. Nowhere to run - Martha and the vandellas
  21. I get it. I just think the custom shop range already caters for these guys.
  22. If someone has a big budget and believes nitro and mm perfect exact reproduction will make them sound better I’m sure there is a market for them. For the rest of us a Vintera from the desired era will certainly do the job. Set it up nicely and use it plenty to give it the desired “mojo”.
  23. The Vintera range is pretty close and far cheaper.
  24. Teach your children -CSN&Y
  25. If people are experiencing a weak G issue the pickup poles can be raised or lowered to compensate. Just remove the pickup raise the G pole, lower the others, replace pickup and it should balance out fine.
