  1. Stray cat strut - stray cats
  2. Kind of. In all it’s malformed glory.
  3. Pie Jesu - Andrew Lloyd Weber. A homage to biblical meat and veg wrapped in pastry I believe.
  4. I can’t speak for the OP but I wouldn’t describe myself as a musician. I’m just a ham fisted bodger that noodles around on the bass. They are frequently in bits as much as in a playable state. I would say music did have a big impact on my life. Any teenager with pretty much zero interest in football and the usual blokes banter should get into a band and or get a bike/skateboard. It will definitely open up new possibilities and IMO a greater range of possibilities.
  5. I think they are hand made instruments and use some pretty expensive material (carbon fibre etc). As they are fairly complex in their design I doubt if they could even be mass produced. There’s a reason that bolt on neck, easy to route shapes became ubiquitous. They are cheap to make!
  6. Suspect device - SLF
  7. Truck driver divorce - Frank Zappa
  8. Of lilies and remains - Bauhaus
  9. Life - Dr John
  10. N.I.B - Sabbath
  11. Road Trippin’ - RHCP
  12. Apparently this is a Japanese make called a Fandel which is new to me:
  13. I call lt a night- Martin Harley band
  14. I don’t know. What makes any mass produced instrument, car or phone special or interesting? The quality of instruments coming out of Indonesia, Korea or Mexico these days is generally excellent. Take any £500 bass from say the Cort factory and give it a decent set up and it it will most likely be worthy of praise no matter what is on the headstock. Spent a couple of hundred more and the materials will be better making it even nicer to use and listen to. The shape is down to preference. Some go for a classic look, some for novelty some for something more radical. That’s down to personal taste.
  15. Armageddon days (are here again) - The The
  16. Dirty Harry - Gorillaz
  17. I really need to watch that again. I think his still had the head attached?
  18. Dirty old town - The Pogues
  19. Not a bass but taking the taxidermy a step too far. A guitar actually made from (not by) a relative.
  20. I suspect Flea or Nate Mendel could play any outrageous bass that took their fancy. Your average function band may raise some eyebrows in purple paisley and a Warlock though.
  21. That’s pretty tasteful though. Always thought he was a Stingray man?
  22. One of the advantages of a classic style is that it never really goes out of fashion and can be used with anything by anyone. If you only have one bass something like one of BC Rich more adventurous designs may not be the best choice unless you’re only ever going to play metal. A subtle (boring) P bass design whether Yamaha, Fender, Sire, G&L or whatever could be used in pretty much any band.
  23. Sure so as as like a classic P I may as well buy one. It’s the timeless simplicity of the design that I like. Edit: As well as the sound. Particularly with flats.
  24. Thanks that’s really useful info. Functionality and sound definitely trump looks for me.
  25. My son was recently given one of these and it’s great fun to play. Futurama (Hagstrom)
