1. I have been watching this with interest whilst trying to find suitable words... I believe "Ay Caramba" should suffice. Really nice work there Andy.
2. As I have a gig that night (400 yards from my house - win!) I will now not be away on holiday that week. Nor then, will Mrs S be away. Therefore we can confirm our attendance. I may bring with me the Westone Thunder that Andy Rogers worked his magic on. ...and yes, there will be cake. Lots of cake.
3. The wonderful Mrs S and I are going down to the show on saturday evening to attend on the Sunday. Since we have a seven seater with only two of us in it we are offering transportation to and from the Derby area. We would be leaving Long Eaton at about half five on Saturday afternoon and could swing by either Derby or Nottingham en route. We would be staying for most, if not all of the show before travelling back. No charge, but if anyone did wish to make a slight consideration towards the fuel that is entirely up to them. Any interest message me.
4. Looks like me and Mrs S will be there on Sunday. May have to have a trip to Islington for a gig on Saturday Night...
5. I was learning guitar for my GCSE in music and we had to get into groups and each do a group recording out of 30-odd students none had taken up the bass, nor indeed could reach their fingers between the first and 4th frets....except me. We did Stand by Me as a group recording (my brother still has the 29 year old cassette somewhere). The music teacher suggested I stick with it as it seemed I could handle it and I would never be out of work as people always need bass players and there are never any good ones available. Some might point out that in my house there still isn't.....
6. NUTS! You are in my own town and I am out for someones birthday that night! Dammit!
7. all of the above if I recall correctly.
8. I cannot guarantee Sharman attendance at this one but we would like to be there if we can. However, if we can be there I can assure you of confectionery goodness courtesy of the wonderful Mrs S. I will update you when we know more, and thank you all for the kind words regarding Jo's baking skills. It is very much appreciated.
9. Aaahhhh well then, with space at somewhat of a premium I may need to give this a miss. For now.
10.
OK your on the list I hope its not spreading too far as its becoming a challenge to keep the list updated. If it gets to big I reserve the right to opt out
Thank you sir, you are a legend. As indeed are Tom, Dave and Karl who have already reciprocated the likeyness. Thanks
11. Right then chaps, I have liked every single band I could find on here so if you would be so kind as to reciprocate my bands are here: Water For Dogs https://www.facebook.com/waterfordogs?ref=hl and The Badly Stuffed Bears https://www.facebook.com/BadlyStuffedBears?ref=hl Thanks all in advance, C.
12. Five string.....fretless....acoustic...... Oh no! Mrs S would kill me. But then again....
13. ...and to you Andy. All is good thanks, hope the same with you? We may have to meet up for a beverage to discuss this. Patternmakers arms at the weekend? Chris
14. just thinking how good they would look on my Westone Thunder..... and perhaps some Black Metal luminlay control knobs as well. Uh-oh!
15. I hate that advert as well but it does at least allow us to re-hash an old joke... What's the difference between Jools Hollands band and a cow? The cow has its horns at the front and its ar*ehole at the back.
16. I believe Manton Customs (of this parish) did a Cherry bodied bass (Sirius?). A few of us played it at the East Midlands Bass bash. Perhaps they could advise you?
17. Andy works his Westone magic again! Watching this with interest.
18. Water for Dogs played at the Swan Inn at Stone in Staffordshire last night. Arranged by, and ably supported by Dave Hulatt of Dream Circuit who runs Prog nights there once a month. This time he invited us over and it went down a storm. I must point out that although my fellow Dogs know Dave it is the first time I have seen him play and he is AMAZING. If you get chance to catch Dream Circuit please do so, they are fantastic. We are booked in there for a couple of months time so that was good and the feedback we got from the crowd of all ages and musical tastes was great. Looking forward to playing there again. Met another couple of bass players there so along with some other, (lesser) musicians so it seems that Stone has quite the music scene.
19. Gig last night was a new first for me; Water for Dogs played a gig in the hallway of a house! Yup, Bass, Guitar and three keyboards in a hallway. Granted it is a big old Georgian pile up past Chesterfield and the hallway was rather large. The gig was a friends 40th birthday party and our keyboardist and guitarist were staying there for the night so they went up early. I arrived later on and I have to admit I was expecting a complete 'dying on your arse' of an evening which couldn't have been further from the truth. There was dancing all around us, in the other rooms and at both ends of the hall the sound was brilliant and we have people coming over to our next gig in Staffordshire on Wednesday. It was a bloody good laugh, plenty of food and booze and a fine single malt to finish. Hurrah!
20. I had a "Divorce Enforced" sabbatical for 10 years that finally ended last summer. I now play with two very different bands and to begin with I was very ropey. After a year playing with some of the best musicians I have ever worked with I am finding my playing has improved far better than I was before (I am still not great but I am enjoying it immensely and trying things that I would not even have considered in the past).
21. Just bought an Ashdown cab from this guy. Very pleasant to deal with, everything agreed up front, no hassle at all. Good luck with the move fella!
22. Just to put this one to bed, I handed my Jazz over to Andy from AJR Guitar Mods and also of this parish for a setup and a little bit of work. Came back looking a bit different: From This: http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad353/stg47/IMAG04341.jpg To This: http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad353/stg47/IMAG04371.jpg Yep, I went for the black in the end with the neck pickup cover and I think it looks class. Andy has done a great job on the setup and fret dressing and with the new bits I am really impressed with the finished result.
23. I did indeed mean Jag. I was dropping my Jazz off with a hangover at the time I saw it...
