  1. The wait is over!!!!! Yes, it's the baby... no, it doesn't (yet) have the VTC preamp... buuuuuuuuut, after literally 5 minutes plugged in.... this is what I think... There seems to be none of the fret end issues that I've read so much (and dreaded) about. These are pretty much what I'd expect from a well set-up bass The eq, set flat, is amazing! Let's just say that A/B'ed against my Cort, which has Delano pickups, the Sadowsky beats, nay, slays is!!! It's lighter than both the Cort and my old model Ibanez BTB 6 (and that means tons to an old man like me) I will go out on a limb and say this much... I've played a Sadowsky only once before (in another life in South Africa back in 1999 or 2000) and it was a MIA top of the line 24 fret model, which blew my mind.... so I have almost nothing to base my impressions off... but what I just played is HUGELY better in feel and tone than the above mentioned Cort, a MM SUB, which also had Delanos (not painting a good picture for Delano, am I?), and probably sits nicely under previously owned MIJ, early 90's Yamaha TRBs (5&6) in terms of "wow, this is a great bass). I mean that... it's not just platitudes because it's "new bass day" for me, I really honestly mean that. To Roger (thank you for the emails BTW), Sadowsky and Warwick, I say thank you!! This one is a keeper! Julian Fairall aka Glassmoon
  2. From what I understand, the Sadowsky part is just under 6 cm. Any chance someone could confirm that for me? Still waiting for the bass. Thomann did say "usually ships 1-2 weeks" but I'm just flipping impatient 😂
  3. Now that is an explanation even a woodworking noob like me can understand. Thank you kindly @carlsim. All I need is the bass... Last question... What are the dimensions you used for the decal. The "Sadowsky" part I mean? Ta, muchly
  4. Many thanks @benh. About to check them out. Ta
  5. I've found the (Sadowsky) logo on etsy and several other places. I'll see which one is best. I'm also considering asking Roger Sadowsky directly if I can get a genuine one... My wife says I should look for a stencil, transfer the letters to the wood, and not a decal. Will see about that too. I'm sure Sadowsky uses a print stamp
  6. Stoked to have found this thread. I'm waiting for delivery of my bass from Thomann, and absolutely want to get the headstock looking "proper". Can I hit you both (@carlsim and @kevin_lindsay) up for advice, links etc. please? Much appreciated Julian aka Glassmoon
  7. Thanks @songofthewind I'm not sure what sealant to use, but I'm sure my local B&Q person can assist. Now to peruse Amazon for the decal paper 😄
  8. A stupid question perhaps, but short of sanding the headstock to remove the existing logo....is there a "better" way to strip off the current logo?
  9. Many thanks @BlueMoon. I'll definitely be checking them out,
  10. Good day all you bass builders. I want to get a headstock decal made, but I have no idea where to go. Any pointers, ideas, options? My thanks in advance. Julian aka Glassmoon
  11. These are awesome bags, and especially useful for longer scale basses. GLWTS mate.
  12. Fair point. Thanks mate. I appreciate it
  13. You have no idea. I've got so much conflict about selling this, present issues notwithstanding. It's a really heavy hitter....
  14. The Carl Martin Bass Chorus is one of those "why, why, why on earth did I ever sell that????" pedals... a real beauty of a unit
  15. Hello @Andyjr1515 - he said that the truss couldn't move and was not willing to apply brute force in order to attempt it. - it is not super gloss, but there is definitely a gloss coating - I could do that if it were deemed to be worth it... again, I don't want to throw good money after bad here (the dilemma is real hahahaha) But yes, I can take it off easily enough See, if it's a scrapper, it's only value then is in the HipShot tuners. And yes, the refinish is the crux... and an expensive one. I am thinking more and more that the neck refit is not viable... many thanks for slapping me about the head!
  16. I've been trying to find a 35", 5 string neck... Warmoth, All Parts etc etc etc. I'm all ears if anyone knows of a decent supplier. I've even tried looking for a similar, albeit "cheaper" Cort neck... From the distributors and 2nd hand. Bloody hen's teeth!
  17. That's what does worry me too... but I'd like someone to look, see, decide ... The pickups, tuners and bridge alone are worth it... sigh
  18. Hi All, So, the woes on my Cort GB75JH continue, so I am (should a potential buyer decline to take it) considering replacing the truss rod. My local tech says he can't do it as he does not have the means to replace on a maple neck and fingerboard ... but who does? I am based in Harlow, Essex, so I don't want to have to ship to Yorkshire - it's not like this is a Ken Smith hahahaha Anyone know of a good tech, who won't rip the ring out me, who can take a look, make an assessment, and do the job? My thanks in advance... Julian aka Glassmoon
  19. To say that is a thing of beauty is to downplay the meaning of the word beauty!!!! A stunning instrument - and welcome to the World of Ibanez
  20. Hell's Teeth... That's a beautiful bass, that's for sure... GLWTS mate
  21. Hi everyone, I'm selling this to fund another music-related project. I've really loved this bass, especially with the awesome Delano pickups I put in. Used once in a live situation and it just works...it punches above it's weight thanks to the upgraded pickups. Description: Cort GB-75JH (semi-clear "black") with upgraded Delano pickups, which makes this bass very close in tone to a Sandberg. MM and J pickup config (a la Lakland) (Delano JC 5 HE/M2 Split Coil Humbuckers & Delano MC 5 HE/S-L Dual Coil Humbucker) Volume, blend, bass & treble (I put Sadowsky knobs on the pots, so it looks really "fancy" LOL) 35" scale length Hipshot ultralight tuners Canadian Hard-Maple neck Swamp ash body Omega bridge Weight : 9.6 lbs / 4.4 kg Issue Statement: The truss rod appears to have fused, and after sending it to my local tech, brute force could potentially break the rod. So this is more than likely a parts bass. And they're awesome parts 😜 The action (see pic) is not horrible, just not paper thin. The tech in question is @gary mac. Collect or courier at buyer's expense (I will bubble wrap to protect, but no shipping box)
