  1. Absolutely brilliant pedal - amazing bang for the buck here... GLWTS mate. I must not look, I must not look
  2. Sadly Christmas flattened me, else I'd be super excited to chat. GLWTS mate.
  3. So I've decided on a possibly somewhat radical change of mind. Instead of dropping in the VTC circuit, I've decided to play with taking the treble pot out (disconnecting the treble circuit completely) and putting in a passive tone pot. I will never use the active treble boost (in nearly 30 years, I've never boosted the highs) but the passive pot sounds wonderful. Thoughts?
  4. I've considered them... maybe half wounds, or ground wounds, or whatever they are called... I play Elixir, which gives me some "softness", but let me look into that... stop me slapping at least 🤣
  5. My P2 is attached to my mic stand (see the picture) and then via a. Mini jack extension lead. So easy to use. So clear. So inexpensive
  6. I need to see if it does. The IRL world is very new to me. I still need to find a cab that I absolutely love.... But that requires money and it can become costly to buy and not like LOL I need to try the parametric EQ on the Zoom (with the ILR switched off) and then fiddle with LPFs Thanks all
  7. Oooh. Thanks for those valuable ideas. I will try everything suggested and see what works and what doesn't. Last question, I use the unit for a cover band, so I have my stock, no FX patch (which goes into an impulse loader). I have a synth bass patch, a keyboard bass patch, one nasty dirt patch and two patches I use with a line selector to turn an effect on or off during the song.... So do I put the eq I end up with at the start of the chain, or the end? I'd say at the start? Many thanks for the replies
  8. Hello everyone I have a question about the Zoom MS-60B and how it potentially might be used to "tame" particularly harsh or overly bright pickups. I have a Sadowsky MetroExpress 5, the basic model without the VTC circuit. I find the pickups way too bright and harsh for my taste, and short of replacing the pickups with a more vintage option, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I could use the MS-60B to curb that harshness - perhaps, something that might warm up and round out the tone (for want of a better description). I know there are some very handy preamp options available in the Zoom, but I have barely scratched the surface of what this unit can do. As ever, my deepest thanks on advance. Julian aka Glassmoon
  9. Woah, you're the first person to use an ART Levelar since I owned one about 25 years ago. I had no idea how to use a compressor in anger, nor did I really know the quality unit I had. Superb in my opinion. Great board mate!
  10. You certainly have a vast collection @stewblack... jealous!
  11. Back in my old life in South Africa, I had several impressions done, by 4 different companies, and not once was I asked if I sang or not, neither was I required to bite down on anything. But it does raise an interesting question on how the mouth's actions potential can affect the fit... when I smile on stage, I notice that I need to adjust my fit (hence me wanting new tips too I think) as they shift... and for bassists, shifts mean less bass and more noise bleed. I shall have to do a little Yahoo'ing... oh wait, it's 2024... let me use that new one, Google LOL (sorry, crap day at work, so a little laugh is needed)
  12. Nice - A tad for from me, but I will check in with The Hearing Hub, several branches in Essex (on the Snugs website )
  13. Yeah, to both the VTC and the pickups... I'd rather put some super warm Bartolinis in. I know what they sound like and I like what they sound like. Or perhaps start playing flats hahahaha
  14. Quick question for you all... Who here has upgraded their MetroExpress with the VTC circuit, and how much of an improvement is it really? My bog standard eq is all flat and both pickups are on full. How much "more" will the VTC bring to the party? Thanks, as always... Julian aka Glassmoon
  15. Sheesh - that's giving it away!!! I love mine... I have it attached to my mic stand and with a 5m 3.5mm male to female, to my strap and to my IEMs - it sounds terrific - and I've used Avioms before!!!
  16. So mine arrived this past week, and although I've only had a very brief time in which to play around with it, here are my thoughts and impressions. Context: I wanted this for my older model, Ibanez btb556. Great bass, weak preamp. Instead of dropping £200 on a quality preamp, I thought this would be an option. Sound: Within a few seconds, I was able to get a really big sound. Very warm and rounded (which I wanted). I left the treble at 12 o'clock, boosted the bass a bit, boosted the mods a bit, with the mid frequency probably in the 200-250 range. The sound was not immediately reminiscent of the OG TH, but to be honest, that was several years ago, so I am basing my comparison on the Tone Hammer plugin, and it's veeeeeeery close. I can honestly say the sound is very good. AGS: I never used this on the original as the volume disparity was too great for live usage, but DemonFX seem to have closed the gap to make this a possible live usage pedal. To my memory, the OG was a bit harsh too, while the DFX seems to be a little smoother to my ears. Win. Conclusions: This pedal is quiet. I wasn't sure if I was expecting noise or not, but there is not a crack nor hiss to be found. As a preamp, it does all I could've hoped for, and more. The drive circuit is more user friendly than expected. It's built like a tank. And for £60 shipped to my door in 3 days (not 100% sure of the AliExpress route just yet on anything more than a scratch plate or knobs) it's a win price-wise. I know the argument prevails that this is as blatant a rip-off of the Aguilar pedal, and make no mistake, it absolutely is (without it being green), but for the price-conscientious (like me) it's a great opportunity to experience the Aguilar sound. And hey, both are made in China and who knows, possibly in the same facility... Anyhow, I hope that helps. Julian aka Glassmoon
  17. You don't really need more, do you!!!
  18. Now that would make my day! Well, that and a double cheese and bacon burger
  19. I am sooooooooooo tempted. I owned an Aguilar TH for a while and loved it. Still bummed that I let it go - and still trying to remember what brain fart led to that decision! And the fact that for £9 more, I can get it in the UK and not have the fear of it never arriving from AliExpress world (I've heard horror stories). Having said that... I'd really love to see a video or hear a demo of this one... and A/B would be perfect.
  20. Mine I got in South Africa in 2015, and they're basically modeled on the Westone brand. So quality for sure, but I'm looking into replacing the tips (based on the advice that my ears are no longer the same shape) and taking advantage of the low end I've lost a bit of. The cost factor is significant when you're not earning oodles, but I guess quality has its price.
