  1. So, very old cream? Man, that sucks - I am being put waaaaaaaaaay off AE here
  2. See, I want to replace the matt chrome hardware on my BTB, which you'd think would be easy - but the stacked pot means either a £10-20 option or this from AE. Same thing with the tuners - the AE price - like your choice, Wilkinson - is just too good to pass up. I'm basically looking at around £60 posted for the tuners, bridge saddles and knobs... Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut.... is AE a viable source? Yes, I worry about the saddles being "suspect".... but for that price, surely a "good enough" option? Baring in mind that I've not yet pulled the trigger hahahaha I've emailed all the Ibanez distributers here in the UK about just the knobs (for now) - so awaiting their reply. Ibanez's Iron Label range in the BTBs, are all black - so that should be a viable option, if they're not stupidly expensive.
  3. Wow, that is a really clever set-up - seriously cool
  4. That's odd - a mate of mine in South Africa - which let's face it, is the derrière end of the world, has bought multiple times from AE without issue. He now lives in Estonia, and has continued to buy without issue.... he has, however, said that the mobile site options are less than stellar, and that he only uses his laptop when transacting. But food for thought...
  5. That's something a little more serious to consider - let me check into that if I can - thanks for the heads up - that is a top tip!
  6. Happy new year, one and all Question... I am looking at changing the matt chrome hardware on my 2002 Ibanez BTB, and I found some monorail bridge options at Ali Express (see this link). 1. has anyone here ever received utter tosh from Ali Express ... as in, it would have been easier to blow you nose on the Crow's currency? 2. anyone with a LOT of Ibanez BTB experience have any opinion on these? I man, they look sound to the naked eye... So, fire away! And my thanks in advance. Julian aka Glassmoon
  7. Man, that's a steal. This is one of the best preamps I've ever owned (3rd time now). I keep on trying others but somehow seem to gravitate back to this one. GLWTS mate... Julian
  8. Well, I bit the bullet, and did a 1/4 turn on each side and boom, I was instantly happy - another small tweak on the bass side and it feels like "home" again. I will wait overnight for it to settle - and cos I don't want to be shut up in my bass hole all day - and then tackle the intonation Thanks all!!!
  9. If the sale doesn't go through, I'll happily take them
  10. Hi all, I have always really not liked touching my bass's truss rods, for fear of, well, breaking something expensive. But now (thanks to my amazing wife) I have an Ibanez BTB556MP (sold one back in 2006), which has two truss rods (accessed at the headstock). With all the cold, and the fact that it was hidden in a cold cupboard (waiting for Christmas), the neck has bowed (strings high off the board) and I want to tweak it a bit. So... I'm OK doing my Cort 5, but a twin truss? So, a lot of Googling has left me with a. tweak evenly in whichever direction is required or b. tweak independently of each other. I'm more inclined to believe the first option, but who here of a technical persuasion can offer me some sage advice. I'll add some pictures later I think, if that'll help. My thanks in advance. Merry Christmas to you all!! Julian aka Glassmoon
  11. The things you see when you've just dropped the axe on something else... GLWTS
  12. So it just seems to get smaller as I get older... but right now, this is about as good as I think I've ever had it. I swapped my Ashdown OriginAL for the MXR M81 (3rd time owning this and hopefully someone will slap some sense into me should I ever try and get rid of it again!) Happy as a clam
  13. I can't believe this has been snapped up. Have a huge bump
  14. Anyone looking for a shipping box? I have one from a Sterling Ray5. 141 by 40 by 10 cms... Collect in Epping, Essex.
  15. Well, the story is, and I'm not saying anything iffy about them at all, when I wanted assistance with installing a Delano MM into my previous bass, a SubRay5, I was informed that the tech didn't deal with Delano and would not be able to assist me. I have to assume that means they won't touch Delano...??? Anyway, nothing against them, but I'm happy to have had Gary Mac recommended to me
  16. So far, I'm loving it. The MM pickup is oddly a little microphonic, which I never had with the exposed poles on my previous one, but in all honesty, it's not an issue at all... And certainly not anything you've done. Again, thank you Gary
  17. The gent of the hour is surely our Gary Mac, who installed the Delanos, replaced a dodgy blend knob, and had made me a very happy chappy. I have posted feedback for Gary elsewhere, but I have to add it here too. Ta muchly Gary!!! who who
  18. Just had a set of J/MM pickups installed by Gary into a Cort GB 75 and dealing was Gary was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. So glad to finally have a tech in my neighbourhood who knows what he's doing, how to communicate and is an all-round standup gent! I highly recommend Gary for anyone in the area of Hoddesdon!
  19. The Downtown is a better box than I expected. Really good eq
  20. I did something similar to that many years ago, where I had 2 volumes and a master tone, with switches to run both pickups straight to the jack (for slapping) and to run just the bridge pickup straight to jack (my reason for that is lost in the sands of time sadly). I was, however, using active Seymour Duncan pickups, which still enabled me to benefit somewhat from the active "vibe". The consideration of the simplicity of the onboard while using a pedalboard pre vs the complexity (or flexibility, depending on your point of view) of an onboard pre and no pedalboard pre.....
  21. You should see the garden
  22. Thankfully not. I used to be a drummer, so there's very little by way a brain to worry about.
