  1. Agree with both of the above! I like to use heavy compression before a drive if I want to have a consistent level of saturation - say, when providing almost "bowed" like sounds from my bass. Placing the compressor after the drive means that on low gain settings I can use the compressor to "turn up" the overall level when playing lightly. Digging in means I get the extra bite but the compressor evens the volume. I SO love bass gear! Even switching the order of pedals offers so many tonal opportunities!
  2. Nearly had a coronary when I saw a zombie (post) lol.
  3. Beautiful! Jon's work is always amazing!
  4. Actually, now you mention it, I had some weirdness receiving subs on mine too. I wanted to comment on the latest subscribers, but it wouldn't report it back correctly, so I didn't bother.
  5. How odd!! Thank you for following my channel @DanVeallBassist back ❤️
  6. Cheers fella! That's good news. I love the look of the old (pre 76) 70's and definitely the reverse Kluson style keys and wondered if they'd fit too, but maybe not. I might have to save my pennies for a Nate Mendel!
  7. Just a question to those who own a Player P. Will the headstock take the standard Fender plate tuning keys? Like the Schaller / Hipshot / Gotoh 70's plate style? Or even the Gotoh Resolute GB640, which are stunning tuning keys. All will need new screw holes drilling, but will the plates fit side by side on the Mimsy headstock?
  8. Funnily, I love all my "toys". Anyone who has seen my (hundreds of video) reviews knows that I cant wait to get my hands on new amps, effects, pedals and whatnot. One of my basses just laps it up and sounds amazing whatever you throw at it. However, I just can't fathom why my ole 76 P bass sounds so incredibly, mind-blowingly amazing plugged straight in to my favourite amp and cabinets. It just doesn't need anything else and the tone is to die for. I ❤️ it!

    Simple interface

I really like this guy's very technical reviews of all the favourite interfaces out there: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0HrD4cTsQpAZ8KK9jPzzGg Julian Krause gets to grips with the figures and after a few different reviews, you can see some of his graphs comparing the benefits of each. I bought my Focusrite Clarett 2Pre before knowing about his reviews, so, I'm pretty pleased to see its a very solid contender, as is the Scarlett Gen 3 models. @Focusrite | Novation gets my thumbs up.
  10. Yeah, you're not wrong! I've got the 4000 and the Focusrite along with Scheps Omni. Check out UniChannel from United Plugins. https://unitedplugins.com/UniChannel/ I LOVE this on drums and bass! They're doing a Black Friday deal - 50% on plugins or 78% off everything!
  11. I was sent the code via message and I've had a chance to try it out. Yeah, really good!!
  12. Omni Channel is SOOOOO good. It's one of my Go To plug-ins!
  13. They do every now and then. A little while back they were practically giving away clip on Tuners!
  14. Next up, fretting notes with the left hand and tapping harmonics with the right hand to get ALL the notes
  15. Pickup choice can make a difference and their position. I like using multi band compression which can push the higher frequencies when needed but leave lower frequencies alone. EQ, of course, that will be useful - and a bit of drive. More saturation for a pronounced effect. If you want to make the harmonics stand out longer, then HPF a delay pedal so it only delays your high frequencies! But don't overdo it! You can pluck harder towards the bridge, meaning a louder harmonic without the string flapping around too much. On some instruments I have found that plucking with my nail or a plectrum helps, but generally an accurate and good left hand technique is where it is at. I can get more volume out of any bass with good technique first without the addition of the above, but it does help

    Mashups.

    Oh yes Soulwax too! Superb!

    Mashups.

I love Mashups SO much. Those using tracks by bands I usually wouldn’t listen to as well! WaxAudio and Freelance Hellraiser from years back but Bill McClintock is just brilliant, absolutely brilliant!
  18. I think from memory the jumper switched the effects loop from parallel to series, not pre- post EQ. I'm prepared to be corrected on that mind. Would certainly support why you wouldn't have noticed too much difference.
  19. The F1 definitely had an effects loop before the EQ - however, given that it's an active EQ, just set all the controls to flat and you'll notice minimal difference.

  23. A long while ago I managed to grab a free deal on Spitfire Audio's Discover. They were offering it free for signing up to their mailing list. I think it is really good even at £49 https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/bbc-symphony-orchestra-discover/ (I am sure that there may be discount codes flying around somewhere for it! I like blending real samples with Xpand2 synth https://www.pluginboutique.com/categories/64-Virtual-Instrument - I got this on a free deal once too.
