1. I've dropped an Xotic SP Compressor in my board to test as it comes with a blend as standard, I'm gonna see how I get on with it. It doesn't seem to like really hot pickups, so I may end up going for the MXR anyway!!!
2. Cheers Gareth and RATM! Keep em coming!
3. Cheers Charic, yeah the guys at DV are brilliant - they are near where I record my Guitar Mag reviews!
4. Ok, to clarify - I specified MIDI Keyboard / Controller. i.e a keyboard 'deck' with MIDI output . A controller that does not contain any sounds of it's own. The M50 I am very aware has MIDI capability - it is a Workstation rather than just a controller. As for budget - is £100 a good price for a decent controller? I will be using it for synth type parts as well as bashing out drum lines, but I won't personally be doing any Jordan Rudess / Jem Godfrey impressions on it. Nor do I need the touch sensitivity of a piano weighted controller. Think is, I don;t wanna buy an over priced keyboard that feels rubbish to play, but nor do I want to be coughing up for something thatcosts the same as the secondhand price of my M50 - thus, I may as well keep the M50!
5. Any that I should avoid?
6. Oh - I've got a set on my bass already and will be gigging it at the weekend. So far, things are feeling pretty good!
7. Hopefully I have read the document correctly. I have copied the tensions for a Nickel Wound D'addario XL string tuned to E. I would say that there is quite a big difference in tension between that of a 105 and 110, so it seems on the face of it raising to a 107 does make a bit of difference. Certainly a massive change between a .095 and .120! Have I understood this correctly? 8. P.s. if they are usind a DI feed, the amp is set to a 1974 Ampeg SVT sim and 810 cabinet emulation.
9.
Doods' right, the bass amp is a Line 6. Look 42 secs in.
Ey! Thank you! That's why I write for a hooj guitar mag lol. Dood knows his sh*t
10. I'm thinking about selling my limited edition Korg M50 (which has way more functions than I'll ever use) and spend a bit more time with Apple's MainStage app I have installed. I would like to get a MIDI Keyboard instead for tapping in my musical ideas. I'm after either a 49 or 61 key controller with both USB and 5 PIN MIDI connections. Maybe a few pads on for drum parts as well as a joystick controller or wheels for Pitch and Mod. I'm not too fussed about being piano weighted, but preferably something that won't fall to pieces in 5 seconds. Working with Core Audio will also be brilliant as it means I can plug it straight in to my iPad as well. Tall order eh? Is there anything I have missed? - Power by USB / batteries would also be great but not essential. Let me know your thoughts!
11. On my tiny screen, that amp looks a lot like a Line 6 LowDown 750!
12. That's a relatively cheap MIDI foot controller too! I've got a Boss FC-50 (Also known as a Roland GFC-50) they come up on eBay sometimes for not-alot-of-money and are pretty bullet proof.

Super smooth purchase of a pedal I had for sale. Yup, top chap!
22. We could 'pin' a lefty discussion thread in the Bass Guitars forum for the discussion side of things. That'd be a good idea - but it couldn't include adverts for any sales or trades.
23. Alex's BGM column for reading reference too. http://barefacedbass.com/uploads/BGM67%20Jun2011.pdf
