1. New details, read above.
2.
The Hypergravity doesn't get good reviews on Talkbass, sounds like it doesn't colour the tone enough for what I want.
I guess it depends on what sort of colour you want? I mean, it can but the default settings are very clean. For example, rather than have to stick with what the designer gives you, you can build in your own EQ curve in to the preset, then save it should you want to change and come back to it. I've reviewed many a compressor pedal, so it'd be interesting to find out what TB doesn't like about it. YMMV IMHO etc etc etc
3. Add the TC Electronic Hyper Gravity (tweaked with the TonePrint editor) or if you aren't a fan of lots of knobs then I reckon the new Bass SpectraComp will be a winner. TC have dropped a compressor based on the studio standard that is the M series processors in to a pedal and I think it's brilliant.
4.
Sweet! Plus the 1. I love BC too for just this reason. Glad you got one in the end - plenty of scope to mod the beast. Just 30 secs on Google got plenty of hits (mostly Talkbass, but hey). I still run mine stock but with a bit of effort I reckon I could do some of the bass mods (and you're not a million miles away either if you' like yours done at the same time ) Ian
Hey Ian! Thank you! Yes, brilliant - So far he natural mid boost is ok as I'm using the mixer output to soften the top end too. I think I'll stay stock for now but I like the 'Banana Mod' I think it is to pull the mid bump down a bit. Possibly worth looking in to. I might have a look at an HPF and gain stage for the input too, but I'll test the theory with some extra hardware before I get the iron out! Yes, you're not too far away! A possible 'mod date' ha ha should I get the urge to try some things out! Cheers
5. I've reviewed both the OB-1 and have also had the pleasure of reviewing the new OB-1 300 combo a few months before it was released to the world. The very first one in fact. Follow the link in my signature to see it in action.
6.
Was it a standard or mod monkey? I preferred the standard myself .I found the best out of that pedal is the treble full and the bass just slightly off full ,gain at 10 and volume to suit......in a valve amp them settings were fantastic
Standard and so far, I've enjoyed using the mixer out looped up for a dry blend. Also feeding the pedal with a bit of boost from a compressor pedal sounds cool as well.
7. So here's a nice little update to the Bad Monkey request! (and thank you to those who have suggested some really cool alternatives) I love BassChat, it's full of really good people and one such came to my rescue and offered to send me their own Bad Monkey pedal to try out. Such a kind offer - but one thing led to another and we swapped some of our kit to seal a deal. I am very pleased to say that I am now a rather happy bunny as I own a Bad Monkey! It's making some great sounds in my set up already and I haven't even got to tweaking yet! Thank you so much Japhet, you're a star!
8. I'm taking the Roland Interface and DI boxes off sale for a moment but the Zoom and Mooer EQ are still available separately or as a deal together (see above)
9. Yes! Of course you'll need software to actually play the sounds and possibly an audio interface to plug in too as on board sound cards on laptops can suffer from latency (a delay between pressing a key and hearing a note from the computer. On the off chance you have an iPad, I recommend the Novation LaunchKey USB controllers (I have the 49 key version) which happily works with laptops and desktops, but will plug in to an iPad further lightening your load. No audio interface needed either. With a wealth of apps at your fingers, it's great fun too.
10. Top 4 have now left the building, the Ibanez Tubescreamer is off to a new home soon so that is accounted for too. The Roland and two DI's I am taking off the list for this weekend, there's something I want to try out. That leaves the MS50G and Mooer EQ - BUY BOTH AND GET THE MOOER FOR JUST £20!!
11. There are, unfortunately not a massive amount of 'line level' effects units on the market that are in the same budget as the B3. They tend to be leaning towards the 'professional market' and thus the effects quality is better and reflected in the cost. Some of my favourites include: TC Electronic G Major 2, TC Electronic G-Force, Eventide and Rocktron. None of which are specifically bass units but have a whole host of different effects on them. I am currently using the TC Electronic G System which is a superb machine and central hub even for external pedals too. The only way is then up and you'll be entertaining AxeFX and Kemper dreams!
12. An improvement would be to put decent looking tuning keys on it first. I mean cheap is fine at this price point but do they have to be so fugly?
13.
Somebody who loads £5000 of equipment into the back of a £500 car to travel 50 miles to accept £50 for a gig
Fixed it for ya
14. Describe the typical BassChat bass player....
15. http://dod.com/en-US/products/looking-glass-overdrive What!?? Someone has managed to put a low cut filter in a drive pedal already? AND a treble cut on the output if I understand correctly. Gonna need to hear this http://dod.com/en-US/products/looking-glass-overdrive
16.
Drip, drip... http://www.woundedpa...&products_id=21 http://ironether.com/pedals/qf2/
I like these, a lot - but it's a lot of faith to put in a pedal that you've never heard on bass. Hmmmm!! Still haven't managed to read up fully on the XR12 yet, but I have to say, re: our other conversation about IEM monitoring, I REALLY like it.

18.
But how? When buying separate costs less than buying whole?
Ok, so my response lacked depth. Sites for example sell (as far as I know) items that have not passed QC - Instead of the brand trashing them, they sell the parts on to these sites. These parts will of course be cheaper than an official blemish free version. The instrument could have been a full item, but if you remove a ding'd neck from a perfect body, then you can sell the body 'as new'.
19.
Hi everyone - I can't quite get my head around something I keep seeing on eBay. Some US sellers, who are companies rather than individuals, ssell a "fully loaded" Fender bass body for around £250 before tax etc. and a "fully loaded" fender neck for around £220 before tax, delivery, etc. I don't get it - they've taken off the strings, unscrewed the neck, and are selling them separately, but you could buy the both for less than the cost of the whole item new. What am I missing???
Profit.
20. I'll ping you my details Thank you chap!
21. Yeah baby yeah! Oh and it's got an EBS Y cable too!
22.
I assume you're going the COG route now after listing all of the gubbins you were using to get that sound!
I'm in the process (and probably will for a while) of investigating! A custom route seems to make a lot of sense but I need to make sure I can nail a particular tone before committing it to a build. I'd like to put a Bad Monkey on the lab slab for a closer look though!
23. Apologies for the sideway photo - Appears to be a BassChat foible when using this particular external image service.
