  1. It's happening here, right now! I'm supposed to be writing music for my next gear review!!
  2. Maybe they're actually out practicing rather than us here sitting talking about it 🤣
  3. Hi @Vin Venal! Yes indeed! That’s me! Thank you so much for the very kind words! I’ve since left Guitar Interactive (after having recording over 400 videos for them) and I now shoot video reviews for Bass Gear Magazine! I’ll be endeavouring to do better videos from my own personal studio! it will allow me freedom to create better content! I’ve also been a contributor over at Bass Player Magazine with my own column every month! Dan.
  4. And, congratulations, of course!!!
  5. Here's my 76! I love the natural + RW look Mine's an Ash body and is 10lbs too. Nothing a big fat padded strap cant handle
  6. I also found that I could run very hot pickups in to the high gain input for tons more output level without fearing the front end distorting. Gobs of clean power for not much money.
  7. I have a funny feeling that at some point this is going to become a meme, it appears in my inbox often now 😂🥰
  8. incidentally , just to others help, the LH1000 bridges it’s full output in to 4 ohms - and, when measured properly, dumps out 1100W RMS in to said load. The power supply is hefty and definitely delivers a weighty sound. Although it isn’t advertised or suggested, technically each 500W module in the LH can handle 2 ohms (hence the 4 ohm bridge capability). /geek
  9. True story: At school I told my careers advisor in front of my whole class I wanted to ve a session musician. She replied, “That’s all well and good Daniel, but what will you do for a real job?” In your face lady! My bass has been solely paying all of my bills for many, many years now and has been my obsession for over 35 years (as those who have seen my reviews know!)
  10. The two outputs on the amplifier are wired together in parallel, it doesn't matter if you cable as a daisy chain or to each cabinet separately, the internal loading on the amplifier will still be the same
  11. Set each switch to 8 ohms when you daisy chain them and the resulting load at the amp will be 4 ohms.
  12. I had a white Combustion and did exactly the same! I loved the look of the black hardware on the white. Gutted, another bass I was forced to sell I was very fortunate to be on the Dingwall testing team and was one of the first to test out the prototype SFII and the FDV pickups. I'd already had Bothe the FD3n and FD3a pickups, so it was a lot of fun testing each! (I still have the NFR's, so when I can get a Dingwall again, I will definitely be using them!)
  13. I've only heard and watched their instrumental jams which have been really entertaining and at times inspired a few grooves of my own. I hadn't heard anything with vocals in up until this point. They're both great musicians that gel very well together.
  14. Try the H4nPRO as it can handle up to 140dB (IIRC) and other models are usually around 110-120 which in some cases can lead to clipping.. Those very noisy environments. Or, as suggested, see if you can come back from the source, which could prove effective if the room doesn't have too much echo!
  15. Superb! I've recently picked up a Hard Puncher (P) from 80-81 and it's bonkers good! Congrats! Interestingly, I *think (and I could be wrong) that my Fender PJ basses were made by Tokai Gakki - and they are INSANELY well made.
  16. Same. The PB 70US models are superb. I'll have another one day!
  17. I used to work for a guitar mag recording gear videos based opposite DV247. Considering their security, it must have been a tough time getting in!
  18. Tom Bowlus and I created this mammoth Trace Elliot (Elf) review for Basss Gear Magazine for this who'd like to know a bit more about the lil Elves! https://www.bassgearmag.com/elvish-appetizer-trace-elliot-elf-bass-head-elf-1x10-combo-elf-2x8-cab-elf-1x10-cab-and-transit-b-bass-preamp/ I'm allowed to be honest about my review kit, so I can happily report that I loved the Elf head - and when I have some cash I'll probably buy one for myself!
  19. My favourite of all the CIJ P basses! The PB70 is such a great bass. I'd been looking for a PB70US-ASH RW - which is basically the same thing with a rosewood fretboard, but if one of these maple versions came up, I'd have some serious words with my bank account over it!

  21. I've just reviewed an incredible bass that has an HPF actually built in to it's active circuit. I feel that it made a difference, the bass was so easy to record and needed very little in post-production to get a great sound. Shame I couldn't afford to buy it!
  22. If it's a full-band compressor in the path, then I might try the HPF first so that it can filter unwanted subsonic frequencies from hitting the compressor and overwhelming it's control circuit. Now this may or may not be the case as some compressors have suitable filtering / side-chain circuits that ignore sub frequencies, but there are many that don't.
  23. Yes, I was having fun watching the audience too!!
