Ampeg the poster was last seen 8 years ago but he has prob just popped out for some milk and will be back soon. Or maybe not....

I agree with you. They have sorted me out before and asked for no payment, I have used their products for years and will do so in the future. I am not having a pop at them in my above post but what I wrote is true and in the future I will buy their products from a UK based shop.

Be aware that if you buy an amp from this mob (or any of the other Euro box shifters) that if it goes wrong, you will have to send it back to the shop in Germany as the Ashdown 5 year warranty is not applicable as it wasn`t bought in the UK. Ashdown may look at it for you but they are under no obligation to do so or repair. Just a word of caution from one who knows. Having said that, if you contact the shop in Germany, they will more than likely tell you to send it to Ashdown but they might have to arrange it with Ashdown.

One of the simplest but best is the Sadowsky SBP 2. Just volume, bass and treble but it is the same pre amp you get in their basses. Just £91 delivered from Thomann. I had the SBP 1 version with the xlr out and should never have sold it. Damm it, gonna buy one right now

I spoke to him a few months back re a possible sale and he is indeed alive and well. Well he was then!
-
I tried to get one a few months back but there was none to be had. Apparently they are having the now usual problems, pandemic, shipping etc.

I wonder what became of @OutToPlayJazz and @icastle. Just 2 I can think of off the top of my head. But I suppose some people just get fed up and move on. OTPJ was a great source of wisdom.

Well the Warwick Gnome arrived today exactly in the DPD time window. Whoopeee!! Opened it up and found a Euro 2 pin cable and plug. Boooo!! I believe thats its illegal to sell an item for UK use and not supply a 3 pin UK plug so have sent off a rather terse e mail to Andertons to get it sorted. I know this happens with Thomann but they usually supply a adaptor or the correct cable. Normally it wouldn`t be a problem but due to some coming`s and going`s I don`t have one.

I have nothing to do with Overland Exp but what I will say is the one time I had a problem (and I shipped quite a lot with them) you can actually speak to them and they will go out of their way to sort out any issue, as they did on this one occasion. (It wasnt the couriers fault, it was the shop`s). Having said that, I never needed to use their insurance but I would imagine the service level would be the same. Give them a bell and a real human will keep you right re their cover.

Got a wee bit of cash so bought myself a Warwick Gnome, the base model. I will take the headphone out into my mixer for some silent practice. Might even use it if I ever get any gigs in the future or use the di out into my RCF, like a pre amp pedal. Should be here Wednesday.

Earlier on this year Guitarguitar had a sunburst/maple one of these for £400. I think there are several variants of the model with slight differences.

I`m in the best not to think too much about what went in and out this year. Ignorance is bliss

Squier Affinity P/J. £150 **Will part out** - *WITHDRAWN*
jezzaboy posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Will sell body and neck separate, see below. Here is a nice Squier Affinity for sale only. It comes with a short story. Bought the bass a few months ago as I loved the colour. Took it into the studio and guitar boy asked for a shot. He played about then stood it against my amp, it then fell over, smacked the headstock on a chair and put a rather serious crack in it. Decided to sell the body only but I over priced it. Earlier this year I had another Affinity, a 2020 model, I had punted the body and I still had the neck so stuck it on this body. I had put a fake Funder decal on the neck originally but got another Squier transfer made up and stuck it on it. I`m not gonna use it so I thought I would see if anyone wants it. It will be collection or meet up only as shipping is now £30 at least and I have sod all packaging left so covid friendly collection from my home in Paisley or localish meet up. New Fender strings and hi mass bridge fitted. Weight is 4 kg or 8.8 lb`s -
Buy a nice Sire V7 and have a cracking bass with a weird shaped headstock already! Will cost you less than the mods you plan and is a cracking bass. But if you want to mod the Affinity go for it.

Re the polish. I used this a few years back to clean up something on my motorbike and it worked a treat. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autosol-Metal-Polish-75-ml/dp/B003XJ1ODM/ref=asc_df_B003XJ1ODM/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309775958298&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6236451573950596072&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046955&hvtargid=pla-563996090104&psc=1&th=1&psc=1

Had this up before but decided to keep it but putting it back up at a lower price to see if anyone wants it. Swamp ash body, 2x G&L Alnico single coil pickups, 38 mm nut, saddle lock bridge, new Ernie Ball rounds. The weight is 5.1 kg or 11.2 lb`s so no light weight but it`s fine for me with a wide strap. The bass is in exc condition. Would prefer collection from Paisley but don`t mind a bit of travelling, within reason, for a hand over. If you require shipping the cost will be around £20 or arrange your own and I will box it up for you.

Big Frank certainly loves a BBG5

I think this track is one of their best.

I don`t want to go into too much detail here but there is something to be aware of when buying amps, cabs etc from a European music store. If anything goes wrong with the gear even though you may have registered the product with the manufacturer, as it was bought in Europe and not the UK, they might not look at it for you and tell you to send it back to said shop. We all know that sending stuff back to EU shop can be a bit of a nightmare at the moment so I would suggest that if you were buying a combo for example, I would check what happens if something goes wrong with it. Just a cautionary tale.

Stu if it`s the JB 2 at £250, go for it. Cracking Jazz style bass.
