1. Updated price: £375 collected £400 delivered UK mainland
2. Edit: price now £375 collected, or £400 shipped to mainland UK! Fender Mustang shortscale Bass with Pau Ferro Fretboard in Torino Red - made in Mexico. Bought this after I had a stroke & was struggling to play again, but am now ready to switch back to long scale. Lovely bass, just no longer needed! Great condition, gigged once & only left the house a handful of times - mainly been sat in my office & just played occasionally. Collection is preferred so you can try it out & confirm you're happy, but I may be able to post at buyers cost - would need a few days to sort packaging materials out though. Any questions please ask! No trades, sorry!
3. Howdy folks, been a long time since I popped my head in here... Was looking for any suggestions for finger supports (be it individual supports, gloves, whatever): Just over 2 years ago I had a stroke (at the ripe old age of 31), and I'm still not there with bass playing - I've been having therapy recently to try to help, and one of the things they suggested was finger supports because when applying force, the top joints in my fingers (distal?) tend to collapse easily, causing problems with my fretting hand. I've got these, which do seem to help massively, but they're quite thick which means they get in the way of playing (catching or muting strings): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Compression-Breathable-Mountaineering-Basketball-Volleyball/dp/B07LCYZ45R So looking for any suggestions on anything similar? I've tried the musicians glove, but that's not enough support. Cheers
4. Quevlar, the Squire - that was probably my '83 JV, going through the Orange/ Barefaced? If so, was good to meet you!
5. Looking like I'll be able to make it - hopefully see you there!
6.
Armed with that JV I trust?
Now that I'm down to a lowly 2 basses, it's got a good shot of making it!
7. I've played a few shows with these guys, and they're top bananas - they're looking for a new bassist as their current one has left to focus on his career. Advert from them below - get in touch with them directly, but any problems let me know! I would, but am just too busy with my band + work to fit anything else in Checkout the video link for a taster! Driving is essential as we rehearse in a workshop 30 mins walk/5 mins drive from Guildford train station (wouldn't want to carry your gear all that way trust me). 8. It's currently free, so it's in the calendar - can't promise nothing will come up before then, but if it doesn't I'll see you then!

10. My favourite out of the ones I've tried is the Dunlop Formula 65 - just seemed to do the best job & leave the nicest finish. A friend of mine who went to ACM had lessons with a guitar tech as part of his course. The tech just used bog standard Pledge for cleaning guitars - he said we used it for cleaning expensive wooden furniture, what's the difference with a guitar?
11. Well, you can't dust for vomit...
12. Or Cleartone: http://www.award-session.com/cleartone_cables.html
13. I played the introducing stage a couple of years ago there, but could then only stay that night so only caught a couple of other bands. Highlight was some random guy buying us a round of shots not long after we'd played, with what he claimed to be his last £20. If it was... That's not bad going, considering it was about 6pm on the Friday! My keyboard player was at Minehead for this weekend though!
14. Supporting him is a band called Stone Broken - get there to see them if you are going, great heavy rock band, nice chaps too (supported them recently!).
15. I wouldn't bother. I've been using a Compact (8ohm) & 12ohm 2x10 as as my rig for the past couple of years in a blues rock band playing small/medium sized venues, and both cabs were a bit overkill & only used a dozen or so times. I'd happily gig the 210 on its own, and did on a few occasions. I've recently sold the 210 as I'm going to get another compact or big twin instead as I prefer the sound. But just before I sold it, I put the two cabs together & did an AB test with my 500w Markbass head. Leaving the settings on the amp the same, the two cabs seemed to output similar volumes - the 210 only slightly less, if anything. The Compact had a bit more 'boom' to it, but that's what the cab does so no surprises there.
16. Playing this on Friday - anyone there, feel free to drop by Centre Stage at 8pm to catch Sugarman Sam & the Voodoo Men
17. I played this last year - was great fun. If it's at Sheffield again, was a nice venue for it. If you like the bands, go for it - it'd cost you £10 alone to see some of those on the bill, more for others!
18. Quite possibly - if it made it's way to Walbassist & Clarky at some point, then yeah!
19. Sale only - no trades please. Ok, you don't see these very often... ! For sale is my early 90s Fender A/E Fretless semi-hollow P-bass with Jazz profile neck. An amazing bass, but sadly I don't play it enough to justify keeping it. I picked this up from here back in 2013, sold it back to the original owner then bought it back again not long after! This thing is very lightweight due to the F-hole, sounds fantastic (different from a standard P) & very loud to boot. It has a Piezo pickup under the bridge and has the Cafe Walter preamp mod installed: http://cafewalter.com/pzp-1/. The controls are Volume, Tone & Blend. Because I was useless at fretless (plus the sound didn't fit with my blues/rock bands), I decided to put a fretted Jazz neck on it to try to play it more but alas never did (thanks to a JV Squier I have). I bought a set of Schaller tuners for the new neck too, so it can be easily swapped between the two (though there's only one string tree between them). The neck is a Mighty Mite jazz neck, and was purchased from here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2803610 I prefer the sound of it as a fretless myself - it's probably the closest you'll get to an upright style sound in an electric bass (to my ears, at least!). Now there is are a few things to be aware of: 1) When you have the blend set more towards the piezo than the the standard pickup, the G string drops in volume in comparison to the others. This apparently has been a common issue with this bass (I asked Cafe Walter for advice, he had the same: https://www.facebook...243511229056514). This never bothered me (I was usually 50/50 or more towards the standard pickup), but the difference is noticeable. If you loosen off the E string however, the G comes back to full volume. I recently took this to my luthier, we made sure the bridge was flat at the bottom but still no joy. In the end, we had 3 suggestions: * Try thicker strings - it's currently strung with 100 - 40 flatwounds, so the G may not be generating enough pressure. * Split the bridge between the D & the G, so that the G isn't affected by the others. This was suggested to the previous owner. * Make cuts from the bottom of the bridge to allow it to flex a little more, hopefully causing more pressure where needed. I decided to leave it as is, so the next person can choose what to do if wanted. 2) The fretless neck has been sanded down on the back to just the wood. Again, this was how I purchased it - it makes it VERY easy to play, feels very smooth & allows you to glide down the neck with ease. 3) The pickup doesn't appear to be original. It should be fitted with Lace Sensor pickup, but appears to have a DiMarzio. I can't confirm that for definite, but it appears to be so due to the hollow poles. Again, as I purchased it - the original is not included. 4) The nut on the fretless neck has been replaced as the original split between the D & G strings. The nut isn't glued in (off the top of my head it was a snug fit), hence the tape in the picture. 5) The fretted neck is unfinished. There is no coat on it. My luthier didn't have time to do it when we fitted the neck, plus I wanted to try and get a decal sorted. As it's sat there unused, I never asked for it to be finished. If you want me to get that sorted, I can get a quote. Also, I don't think you can use the micro-neck adjustment on the bass (the hole in the neckplate) with the fretted neck, though I've never tried. 6) It's a 25+year old bass - there's a couple of dings, the main two I've tried to photo (one bottom front, one on the back) 7) I've replaced the knobs with silver ones, but I still have the original black UFO ones - remind me! Enough talking, some pics: It comes with an SKB 'soft' case - it's VERY sturdy, but not as bulky / heavy as a hard case: https://www.gak.co.u...CFQy3GwodPEoEaA I'm based in Basingstoke - trials are welcome, and I may be able to meetup/deliver within a reasonable distance if required. I'm happy to post at the buyers expense. Any questions let me know!
20. Update: Price drop to £400 delivered. For sale only (no trades): Barefaced TWO10, in great condition. Silver cloth, 12ohm version so perfect for multi cab setups. £430 including postage. It has recently been re-telexed a few months ago by Barefaced, so it's almost as new - there's a small mark on the back at the bottom, but that's about it. I've had this since just after they were released, and it's served me well - mostly used with my Super Compact for some incredibly loud, clear sound! However, I'm after getting a second compact instead (or big twin), hence this is up for sale. Any questions let me know! I'm based in Basingstoke, so collection / trial welcome. May be able to deliver to the local-ish area, and have all the original packaging so postage is an option (and included in the price). I believe a new one of these would cost you £589 - £519 cab, £40 silver cloth & £30 postage. I also think you can get a kit from them to convert it to 4ohm if required.
