  1. sent my mpj back today only had it a few weeks plugged it in yesterday and no sound from neck pick up.i would go with a preamp myself
  2. a few weeks ago I got a satin finished modern player jazz.and in most aspects of it im more than happy accept if your finger catches the bottom right pole piece theres a massive buzz no other pole piece causes the buzz.so is it normal or dodgy pick up or me just being dumb

  5. well my new Sony DWZB30 landed yesterday and its worth every penny of the £188 it was easy to set up and to my ears has better sound quality than the Freeport.only tested I in the house so havnt pushed the range on it hopefully it wont have the same delay the Freeport had as you got further away.so far im well chuffed with it.my only gripe is the europlug but thanx to this forum I was pre warned and went and bought a new power pack
  6. +1 for turning the pick ups around.im still enjoying the bass and it seems well put together but im finding my hand gets stuck to the lacquer n the neck might have to rub it down a bit

  11. following this with interest as ive just bought a mpj in satin black.i suppose you gould go with two humbuckers and have vvt and not wire the selector switch
  12. last night my old Freeport wireless system died so im in the market for a new one.my budget is about £300 so can anyone recommend a new one as the Freeport system is now discontinued

  14. that might be where im going wrong I tend to rest my forearm on the top of the bass so my wrist is almost at a right angle
  15. ever since I started playing bass ive always used a pick.but now ive decided to give playing with my fingers a go.the thing is I cant seem to find a strap hight that works.if its low its comfortable on my wrist but I get a lot of fret noise with the strap raised I feel as if my picking hand is at the wrong angle.any hints or advice
  16. im thinking about getting a satin black mpj but im wondering how durable the satin finish is as i cant stand the roadworn look.so could anybody with one please tell me if it marks easily
  17. in our old band we never used set lists.our singer was always really good at reading the crowd so he used to choose what song was next.
  18. with my vmj I had a wiring loom made by KIOgon.it was fast efficient and with quality parts.and its idiot proof to install would highly recommend it as a mod
  19. its not a bad bass really.the string spacing is tight but I play with a pick so its fine.im taking it to a local guitar repairer for a once over and a set up on Saturday hopefully no major cash needs to be spent
  20. I put a new 9v in the circuit board for ive pre amp is inside a plastic bag in the cavity is this normal.having never had an active bass I don't know if right on not

    my wifes just bought me a samick yb5-639/gig form a bloke she works with.the bass is in quite good condition with one or two dings to the headstock.ive cleaned it up and it plays quite well the only thing is every now and then it makes a loud pop.its an active bass but I really cant find much on the net about them.anyone any ideas whats causing the loud pop. cheers rob

  24. its always been the left side for me.when I first started in bands I chose that side so I could see the bass pedal and hear the hi hat.it was a confidence thing back then now its just habbit
