  1. Thanks very much - yeah it’s super versatile with the active/passive options. Fantastic “P” sound obviously but also can produce uber-modern jazz tones Forgot to mention it’s a comfy 9lb on the bathroom scales 👍🏻
  2. This is ridiculously cheap - new this would set you back over £2k. Amazed it’s still here ! If if didn’t have too many 5ers already I’d leap on this ! Lovely colour too. Hope it sells soon.
  3. Thought I’d share this as there was a lovely time of worship (using the song “make room” at the end of our service and the sound (on decent headphones!) was pretty good. Jump to 1 hour 33 mins for the bit I’m referring to!!
  4. Love the Thumb. As you say, that grain is exceptional !! 👍🏻
  5. These basses seem to be highly regarded - nice video demonstrating it here although it’s in German! looks like the same colour bass as yours with the white pickguard you mention. presume yours is 34” scale 19mm string spacing and usually not too heavy it seems GLWTS
  6. Lovely - could you say what year this is - can’t quite make it out from the pic also the weight would be useful. thanks
  7. Considering the price of the quite similar PJ5 hybrids at BassDirect this looks great value for money! Harry is a great seller too. GLWTS mate!
  8. Lovely basses these - we seem to share a weakness for black 5 string basses 😂 GLWTS !
  9. Colleague at work asked me to do a set up on this bass for his son. It only had two strings on it when he brought it in. Cleaned fretboard, restrung, saddle height adjusted (was ludicrously high!) intonation adjusted. Neck pretty straight once it had 4 strings on! he hadn’t realised it was active and as I didn’t have an amp I couldn’t see what it does - battery had Japanese characters on it so might be quite old!! Can anyone say what the two switches might do ?!?! Quite a bit of gaffer tape round the cabling so it may or may not be original. all he knows is that his son will be happy to be playing 4 strings instead of just 2 !!! 😂😂
  10. Really interesting to read all this and to see how other churches do things from an AV perspective I'm surprised 4 bassists aren't enough really, unless maybe you are running multiple services each Sunday (which we did for a while)? I find if I'm not playing at least every other week or so, its much harder to stay familiar with the songs and to have a sense of "team". I'd be interested to know what other bassists think about the optimum playing frequency. Crack on with your learning and in addition to learning from your current bassists have a think about getting some lessons maybe? I had been playing for years when I decided to get some lessons from a pro-bassist and it absolutely transformed my playing - was also great to get an external "secular" perspective on playing bass as so much worship stuff is repetitive and predictable so you can end up playing in the same way the whole time. Sounds a bit of a contradiction, but its made it easier to worship while playing! It was also nice to share some of our music with him!
  11. Not sure if we’re looking at a quilted maple top, or gloss black with cumulus nimbus reflected in it? Any chance of an indoor photo ?!!?
  12. Just back from a full set-up, clean and restring done by Richy’s Guitar Workshop. First time I’ve used Richy and was v impressed. Recommended if you’re based around/in London. https://www.richysguitarworkshop.com
  13. Just had a full set up fretboard clean and re-string done by Richy Jones of Richy’s Guitar Workshop. https://www.richysguitarworkshop.com He’s done a great job and is a really friendly guy to deal with. Prices (see website) are excellent imo, and the lead time was only 10 days. Would recommend to others - for avoidance of doubt I have no connection with him and found him via a Google search and thought I’d give him a go. Glad I did. Nice to support a young entrepreneur!! Located 5 mins walk from Fulham Broadway tube station 👍🏻
  14. Very nice ! How much does this one weigh? Bit confused about the “ding” as the pic suggests it’s near the battery cover not the top horn!!??
  15. and especially light for an Overwater! Love the block inlays too ! GLWTS
  16. Thanks for sharing! I do love the way your services are put together, with very professional pre-service material etc. The sound mix is also good and nice to hear the BVs clearly and to see their smiling faces. In terms of the bass stuff, wow! If that’s the first time in some years on fretless you nailed it! Pitching sounded spot on. In terms of how it sounded though, I wonder if it could have been a bit more “legato” for the material? (Imo) The tone was strong on mids and hardly any low end (was listening on Bose QC45) so with a bit of tweaking it might sit better in the mix? Thanks again for sharing
  17. Can’t remember if I posted this when I got it but quite recently I managed to get my hands on a Thumb Ltd Dirty Blonde 5 after foolishly selling mine years ago (that’s how rare they are!)
  18. With a new one costing £2500 I’m surprised this is still here - I reckon it’s about the best finish Spector do (outside the stupidly expensive USA stuff) and this one’s particularly nice. Thank goodness it’s only got 4 strings or else I’d be in trouble 😂😂 GLWTS!
  19. Yeah 9lb 10z is pretty good for these - really nice solid feel, plus with that 35” scale - lovely !
