When I bought my chapman stick, the guy I got it off seemed a great guy, had a reasonable social media presense including pics of him playing the stick so I could have gone F&F, but I didn't because fundamentally it was a lot of money and the extra money was just insurance for it. Turned out, he was a great guy anyway, but the thing is, a lot of scammers seem like great guys, and there really isn't a way to tell the difference. Like those people who meet some girl online and then pay for them to come over and it turns out it was just a scam and they lost their money. Well, I have been married to my one for 25 years on last monday, so you really can't tell.

The Gl iNet 1200 is the at the moment on my list of things to get as soon as I can get a non amazon source for it - I use a much better one, but I don't need that much power as it doesn't have much to do, but that little one has the advantage of being USB powered. So yes, I would go for one of those. I do have a TP-Link AC750, which is what I used before and it worked perfectly, but I need two ethernet sockets for the mixer and the surface, so even though they were reliable and perfect for the job (in some ways better than what I have now), it was twice the number of things, and I am all about not having as much stuff now. Then I needed one around the house, so I used the other router anyway. But in your position with just the one socket need, the AC750s are perfect, reliable, can be powered by the XR18 (although probably not officially!) and work well.

mine is on sever mode in a practice as I don't bother with the surface etc and client mode on a gig. But the iPad knows both networks, so its pretty transparant. Now I think about it, I should probably use the XR16 I have for practice as it is smaller and not used for anything else, and it also has a 2 channel recorder on it.

It occured to me that in the time I have been using wireless, 5 years or so I have had one gig where I had a few dropouts. But in the same time we have had to stop the gig about 5 times because the guitarist insisted on using those Fender leads, and once had to do a quick swap because the singers XLR died. So yes, although I have always had a cable next to me in case i had to quickly swap out, if 100% reliable is the cable standard, my wireless has been about 103% reliable!

I generally use my ashdown ABM600 and 2 1x12 TC speakers, just because everything fits together. The volume is generally at 1/4 - directly to the left. Before that (and still sometimes) I used my TC450, which was less and had no problem with that. But TBH, the most time in the previous band I used a TC250 1x12 combo and never had any issues with that. I am sure they are pretty cheap now, the only reason it changed was probably being on basschat!

Really does sound like a defective battery or a high current drain. Switching it on again (by unplugging and plugging gives a higher voltage for a short while until it has got drained

Sorry, yes, the mixers default address is 192.168.1.1, and it generally hands out a 192.168.1.101+ to an iPad connecting through its internal wifi. I sometimes confuse it as I am using a wifi 5g router on the 192.168.0.x range, with the iPad on wireless and the X18 and XTouch on wired. I assume the 169 there is a typo of 168?

True, but the desktop one has a separate panel for network and connection type. Sometimes that is a little irritating actually, at least on the iPad you know you are connected.

it is pretty much exactly the same as the iPad app. I don't understand how behringer didn't bother updating it while the XAir series are very popular pieces of hardware, not like they don't get the updates (unless the lost the person who wrote them).

Indeed you can't but you can change how you scan those things, or what element of those bits you use.

That is just a straight up network issue. The demo mode will always work, its not really doing anything. It does a request on the subnet for any X-AIR mixer and shows a list of them. If there aren't any, it means that none of them are showing up on the local network. Same as the mac and PC versions. The difference with the now non functioning iOs 16 is that sometimes it appears and won't connect, sometimes it appears and dissapears and sometimes it connects and crashes. So for whatever reason, your XR mixer is not on the same network as your iPad, or there is something stopping it getting there. Plus the software is very old, so it almost certainly works on iOS 10. I have an ancient iPad (the second one) - I am sure it worked on that, can try it if I can find a power lead!

Strange. Well, not strange if you are using the current iPad app on the current Operating system, which doesn't work right, but if you were using either the Mac app on the mac or the iPad app on a < ios 16 iPad that is very strange. never had any connection issues, either with internal or external. although obviously if you are on internal it needs to be on the same subnet, if your xr isn't sent to be a dhcp server (which I am not sure if it is as default). but if your iPad has an address off 192.168.0.x when connected to the XR, all should be good

You are probably right - the Mac app is the same as the original iPad app. I didn't even think on looking on the app store for mac apps, I just downloaded it from behringer. https://www.behringer.com/downloads.html is it set to have a dhcp on the iPad? Should just appear pretty well straight away

Well, that is the option at the moment. With the X-Airs yhou can also use a 10 year old iPad (I do), its just you can't use anything updated to the latest system (iOs 16).

There are at least 250 different options even if you are confining yourself to an 8 bit character set. If you aren't, then there are 1000s of different characters. I haven't had problems using non latin characters anywhere for a long time.

Do you not have a mac as well (not sure how good my memory is) - if so just sling xair on that and it makes it easy to set up. I found when I started I got a bit messed up with echo sends and returns (and ended up with some nasty loops), but like all these things, its just practice. What is also very good, if you get a chance - once you get a multitrack of your band as I did this weekend, you can feed that back to the XR and practice with some of the other input stuff, compressors, limiters, effects routing in a much more natural way than when you are just sitting there moving sliders up and down.
