Be interested to hear how it works in action. I must admit the SY1 cures my need for synth backup when playing, but I am no longer chasing the actual synth driver as I have figured the bass is just not a good instrument for it, and I now have a linnstrument which gives a lot more for the same string layout, if you see what I mean

I got one of the same ones, sounded fantastic, but string spacing turned out to be too big for me, so I passed it on. Was a great sounding bass though.

Agreed - my band wont do oasis as I refuse to do it (not for political or ethnic reasons). Its not like we haven't been asked at every gig!

I am not sure what you mean, or that aware of any sectarian irish songs (actually any irish songs at all), so I don't think I am in a position to judge.

I don't think anyone was missing your point, I am just disagreeing with it. it is still political. Literally, it is no longer acceptable behaviour to hang and burn people because of their skin colour in the south of the USA any more (ignoring the other places that it is), but the conditions that give rise to that haven't gone anywhere. in fact if anything they are on the rise.

I would say, in a vein similar to WoTs post about political, i don't think colour matters, I don't think it is relevant the colour or race of the group doing the song, wrong is wrong regardless. I just think it is not something that goes in the set of a adult pop pub group

Very. When viewed from an age when whether black people actually had rights, or were indeed 'as human' as white people was incredibly political. It effectively killed Billie Holiday. The fact that it is not as obvious now as it was then, doesn't change that that much.

That is my issue, Which is the polar opposite of that song. Its not cool and it isn't pop. It is jarring, political and depressing.

I would not have any issues with appropriation, I just cant think what sort of gig it would be appropriate to do it at, and my group wouldn't be the right group to do it with.

Although not quite the situation here, I have been asked back afterwards after I have failed an audition. My group before last I went to an audition, they got back to me with 'you were fine but this other guy was better for what we were looking for', which is obviously fine, that is the point of an audition, so i replied with ok, thanks, hope it all goes well. I even went to see them after that, and he was clearly better than me. A couple of months later they got back in touch to see if I was interested because he had disappeared - like completely disappeared, he didn't turn up for a gig and they never heard from him again, no falling out or disagreements or anything.

I would too. Sadly this group had difficulty using email, let alone anything else. They split up shortly afterwards and I am still with the band I joined the same month. I have seen a few of them in different groups.
