  1. Yes, Go fund yourself seems the general answer
  2. That isn't begging though, that is getting someone to fund you to do something, same as a kickstarter campain, so they aren't giving you money as such, they are just paying you up front or paying for something they want to be done. None of them care if you have a new bass or not, they care about getting the thing they want.
  3. I put a roland pickup on both a P bass and a G&L2500, both with shiney finish, and both of them show no signs of the tape afterwards if you are careful cleaning it off.
  4. I wouldn't gig with a stomp, as it doesn't have what I need, but for the stick I just need maybe a phaser on the bass, a bit of reverb and a drive on the treble. All going to headphones probably. Obviously the LT can do this and a lot more, but it takes up a lot of space so it isn't something I can get out in the evening for a quick noodle.
  5. You are incorrect, I obviously know less about the LT than you! OK, so that is an option - I never looked on the HXFX as it has stereo inputs, the same as every other helix apart from the LT. Thats good, I can get on with it. It is however a bit overkill on what I want on the stick, but that gets it a lot more useful - thanks very much.
  6. Unfortunately that is line level
  7. I won't do a whole brace of politics. I will do some religious affiliations, depends on who and what they are and if they want to involve me in them (ie, I have no problem playing for a church fete sort of thing, but that is about it). Won't do hunter groups.
  8. One of mine looks like that, but then it has always looked like that and I put it in 10 years or so ago. Never moved in that time. Has it moved to go there?
  9. I have an SA36 - same layout. I put a dimarzio par on the bridge and a Seymour Duncan compressed humbucker in the neck, that last one was wrong, it's not the right spacing and it doesn't suit them. note the pickups are weird, if it has the pull switch it's because the two single coils are very different from each other
  10. Lay concrete driveways?
  11. As long as I know my gear is reliable, that is all I need for gigging. I rarely take my expensive basses gigging, but when I do, it makes virtually no difference to the audience whether I have that or my aliexpress special. My confidence comes down to knowing I can do what I need to do, and the bass doesn't take much of that.
  12. DOn't get me started on gofundme campains. We have a friend that is always doing them for getting holidays for herself and the like. She has more money than most of her friends and I don't think any have been successful, but it just winds me up disproportionally.
  13. Honestly it doesn't look a million miles away from the taurus, apart from the slope at the top. I think it looks really cool in the aluminium. If it was mine I would probably fit the synths inside it and have a few footswitches on the top. But then if it was mine it probably wouldn't be done as well!
  14. Anyone want to upgrade from a stomp to an LT? I wonder as I have an LT (as you probably guessed from the first line). For me the LT is too big to gig and the stomp is too small, so I am still happy gigging the HXFX. But for playing the chapman stick, sadly the LT lacks a stereo input which I believe the Stomp (and the HXFX) has, and as live is probably not something that is going to happen with the stick, it is more a home thing.
  15. I can't imagine them closing pubs here. Closing workplaces and schools, maybe, pubs? thats not going to work
  16. I just buy basses (and musical stuff) from the sales of other musical stuff and the money from gigging. Makes it a self sustaining hobby. Having said that, I don't have a 2.5k bass.
  17. I love her theramin stuff. I was almost tempted to get one based on the stuff she did, then I realised that I would sound more like a couple of cats fighting!
  18. Thought that was more an American thing. Having said that, my house is one of those steel frame concrete houses they made after the war
  19. And moderately priced Sire 5ers are prety heavy
  20. Because wood is heavy, and enough wood so that things don't bend is heavier still. Techniques to make things lighter are more expensive
  21. That's not a plate. The budget SRs for some reason when you buy them have a plastic sheet underneath the knobs telling you what they do. You remove it once you have bought it, that one is obviously new it still has that sheet and the plastic on the pickups i assume they don't put it on the others as you are supposed to know what the knobs do when you spend a bit more!
  22. How about a 375, almost the same: https://reverb.com/item/23877519-ibanez-sr375el-awb
  23. No? https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/ibanez-sr305-left-handed-bass-guitar-weathered-black Ahh - I see none of the 305s left handed are current - you have to go up the model range for that
  24. Ah, well I get round that by just looking cool enough to start with
