Back in the day, before the last update, I used to do a search in Activity -> My Activity Streams ->Content I started to find things I was selling. I wanted to reprice my CTM100 that is for sale, that I started on july 20th, but none of my selling posts come up. Makes it very hard to find my sales, especially as I couldn't find it with CTM100 (forgot I had a -), i needed to add ashdown. Here is a link to my post, And here is a link of my search

Thanks, that sounds good!

I know it was mentioned somewhere, and this is probably not the right subject (although it is close). Did someone say there is now a way you can take payment for paypal on collection? I have never accepted paypay for local pickup but I can swear I read something on here about a safe way to do it recently. Was going to put my Amp on ebay but there is no way I am posting a valve amp.

Thomman has sorted their VAT payments out now, so there are no other charges, same as some of the other larger EU suppliers, DV24, Bax etc (actually bax never had that problem). Its only small companies and second hand goods from personal providers where there are other costs.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Woodinblack replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Mine were a lot cheaper than £100 but yes, it wasn't terrible but it was just a bit too heavy at that end. I think that is why the 1605 was almost immediately discontinued, and when there was another spalted poplar one it had another wood behind it. However, makes for a very nice bass with the weight, and after all these changes, I still feel it is my favourite. -

I do notice a difference in balance with bodies. Taking my SR1605 for instance, with the ultralite tuners on it it doesn't neck dive but the weight is very neutral, before with the gotohs on it there was a tendancy to be a bit head heavy. All my other SRs are heavier (up to the 5005 which is a brick) and the heavier they get, the less head light they are. The only structural difference between the 1605 and the 5005 is the top wood is spalted poplar, rather than wenge. It is amazing how much difference it makes. -
Thought it was more Charlie Watts myself

Maybe I have it set too high then. My SR and Shuker aren't the loudest basses, so maybe i need to turn it from Stun to Massage. Well, another thing, the volumes could be a bit stiffer, they have moved when I have moved the unit a bit. However, I think it really does do what it says it does, and of all of the complaints about it (apart from the power), most are just functions of what it does, like it is a pain it is so heavy but wouldn't work if it wasn't, etc. Wish I didn't have two weeks until the next gig (or practice) now, so I could try it out more.

ok, so now I have charged it, most of the other troubles seem to go. Sadly missed those two gigs, have some others at the end of the month. So my thoughts now: It really feeds back a lot. Do I have it up too high? If I let go of the strings, it will start in a few seconds on my 1605 and my shuker. Its a bit of a pain to adjust the levels isn't it? Especially as I have a rotator cuff issue which means I can reach round. You have to take it off, adjust it and put it back. it works better on some straps than others. Problem with a few straps is it needs to go where the adjuster is, but it can't go near that. Works well on the thick strap on the 1605, not so well on the thin one of the shuker, but the shuker strap is turquoise, and matches the bass, so I can't change it! Beyond that, I can see its value. I have had it on for practices and I like it. It really helps you feel where you are, even when you can't really hear it. I have had a few gigs when I haven't been able to have monitoring (normally set up by someone else) where i couldn't really make out the note once you get to the lower strings, and one occasion where i was a semitone out and hadn't noticed. This would cure that straight away. Is it worth the money? Not sure, its quite expensive for what it is, but I have bought many things that ended up not being used much, so I guess time will tell. If not, I am not going to lose as much as I have on some basses, so seems like a good deal.

Really irritated about my docs. They have a zip in the side and although that has been fixed, the insole came away and the bottom is falling apart. I keep looking but they don't do side zips any more like these. Only a few years old.

Yep, braces as we call them here. I know what it means when an american say it, just a funny image like craddock bag - see we arent even allowed to write f a n n y in the forum!
-
Now there is a funny mental image! Must have looked fabulous on the guys - Couldn't find Docks and red suspenders, but it works well with black ones. (I guess some words dont translate!)

I can't be doing with adapters, or frankly, american plugs (lived in the states long enough to hate them) - easy point of failure so I will get a UK 14v supply. I wrote to them to tell them it was poor - they said that they were looking to make the next model powered by USB. I replied saying it would be better if it could be powered by a normal 9V adapter that effects pedals use, as they are a lot more common on a gig.

Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System

My X18 is as solid as a rock, but obviously not using the internal wifi which is asking for trouble! -
Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
Woodinblack replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have never had the flashing thing, and I also use wireless IEM, wireless from the iPad to the mixer (although now 5ghz as the IEM inteferes), on stage we also have wireless sax. The only time I had any issues with the smoothhound was when I was powering it from a shared source and it wasn't getting enough power. I have been in wifi dense places too, (when you learn the lesson of using the X18 with its internal wifi!). I always carry a cable and have it out in case of issues, but the one time I thought I had to use it it wasn't the wireless at all, it was a cable to the amp. I am not far from the smoothhound as it is on my pedalboard, so by my feet (although I can wander quite a way on a big stage), and I also use an active ibanez bass. All in all not much help, as long as the power is supplied ok? -
Advice needed: Gigging, vaccination status and tests
Woodinblack replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
ok, the one in the truck, somewhere between 100-200 people. Not sure I saw a mask anywhere, mostly young people. OK, outside was fine, the bar was in a building and it was loads of hugging and chatting in groups. There was litterally no indication that was or had been a pandemic in the last 20 years there. There were no checks anywhere on anyone, you could just stroll in. I decided against going in the building and was fine in the field and on the stage. -
Cool, will put one on my EHB. Probably not the stainless, it is bright enough already
-
Which ones of the markbass strings are the coated ones. I have two packets here, both longevo series, one stainless and one nickel, they both say nano-film shielded strings. Are they the ones?
-
I put mine on something (I must have done, can't find them), but I don't know which!
-
No, it was new from bassdirect. Its working now, I used an iPhone lead and I guess it didn't like it, or it was because it was almost out of power. Considering the cost, it is a very poor power arrangement, taken the shine off it a bit. I will see if I can pick up a uk supply, I don't want some wobbly mains device kicking around with my gig stuff! Also last adapter I took on stage got destroyed by the singer jumping on it! So it works, now I have to get used to it!

What are you listening to right now?
Woodinblack replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Love that one - we spent a year practicing it for out band to reform in june, then they decided they didn't want my wife to sing any more - so told them where they could shove it. We will find another band to do it with! -
Funnily enough, just did that. Had to concentrate on learning it before singing as it is hard to do both. Great line though.

It's a more industrial take on an organic look

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Woodinblack replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
I didn't hug anyone before the pandemic, sure as hell not starting now!
