Realised actually using correct length strings helps for correct tension. Going to be ordering new strings Monday.

What type of angry? Dark/deep or more treble/zing angry or growling angry?.

Lol this will make you laugh ive changed the strings to an old set of rounds from flats. I normally hate rounds!. Then thought what if I adjust the pickups very close to the strings again normally this is a no no for me. Wow what a difference the old broken in (long scale!) rounds really feel much better. And the output and tone has changed massively!. It wasn't bad before just lacked something and I've been spoilt of late. I'm not 100% convinced yet but the feeling is good. Bit embarrassed seems a school boy error not to do that in the first place. I did set up the bass how I normally like them. Goes to show every instrument is different and I've had the same model before. Gonna give it a few more days to decide.

So I went and bought a very nice mustang bass. Ive had various ones in the past. This one I'm just not bonding with it. I'm not sure why. Its a nice bass all round nothing bad about it. I paid a fair amount of money for it (for me) and feel a bit of pressure to like it. I'm in two minds to mod it. When in all honesty its totally fine as it is now. Or even just sell it, I know someone will love it. Trouble is I honestly wouldn't know what bass I would like. Ive had a few very good mim fenders of late trouble is I'm so much more comfortable with short scales. I like the look of the rascal bass.

I think it looks pretty nice. Would it look good reliced tho?

We should all chip in buy one. Evaluate it (properly no piss taking) then leave appropriate feedback. Anyone else down for that?.

The worst vintage bass guitar in the world

I think if it actually plays ok then it's cool. I would of loved to know it's back story. -
Switching between pick/fingers---for a single song
Twincam replied to uncle psychosis's topic in General Discussion
Not read all the comments so if it's been mentioned I'm sorry. Plucking more near the bridge will of course sound less muffled, more trebly but still sounds just like fingers. -
Fender Flats or Pyramids? what is the bass btw?
Fenders finest flats, find they give a good range of tone not too flat/thumpy so to me they cover a lot of ground. 2001 p bass special deluxe, a really nice bass now belonging to Andy.
It's coarser than the Meguiars which I also use but not so coarse as to risk anything (if used properly) or so coarse as to leave visible swirls/scratches. It obviously depends on the finish you use it on though. Below is a job I used it on a while back. A client brought me this PRS guitar which he'd attacked with a pan scourer in an effort to remove a sticker, obviously this wrecked the finish something bad. This was also the worst finish for buffing out....gloss black ! However, under an hour later, plenty of elbow grease and only one product (Autosol) I was done . Before: Afters: So, yeah. I'm sure
Ah excellent. Good job!.

Dha vt1 valve overdrive, being an actually tube pedal it does what your after very well and although they can do extreme distortion one of there primery roles is too thicken sound and add some grit, grind etc. With added bonus of a little tube warmth. There not expensive either many models are sub 100 pound. Bit of a shameless plug as I'm selling one. And only selling to part fund a larger model.
Both Autosol metal polish and Meguiars Ultimate Compound work very well. I use both on scratch builds. The Autosol is coarser than the Meguiars. You can go finer than this with a swirl remover, but you might be at it a long time if trying to remove scratches. It should probably go without saying, but I'll say it anyway....these are abrasives, so will remove the top surface of your finish. Be especially careful around edges where the finish is thinner and you can buff through all too easily if you started with a thin finish! Also lot of earlier (cheaper) guitars actually did not come with a clear coat, so it's best not to buff these guitars. It was quite common back then to simply spray the colour and pronounce it done. No leveling of the finish, no buffing, no clear, just colour coats, so these are very easy to cut through down to the primer or wood. Having said that a lot of modern Poly finishes are so thick you couldn't buff through them if your life depended on it, making them quite safe to buff. So basically make sure you assess the finish first before having at it.
It's ok I worked in car body work for years. But of course different paints so wasn't sure what would be best.

I use autosol all the time when polishing metal and final polish of frets. You sure it's not too course?.

This is on a bass I'm selling. I thought it was from where it was on the wall hanger for a while she I bought it. So if its a repair I will need to revise my ad. No crack on the front or the back the mark fade away it seems. I cant decide if there was a repair on the side or not. It must of been done years ago. Seems perfectly fine anyhow. I would just go for a used Fender the lower mim standards or the modern player series if you have £350. Or if it has to be used any Yamaha, ibanez any squire any guitar made by those will be spot on. As for changing pickups you won't need to. The eb0 has a very slim neck so if you like it go for something with a slim neck, anything with a sub 40mm nut width should be ok. For really cheap the Harley Benton basses are good the ones with wilkinson pick ups are very useable. However the fret work isn't that good.
-
Does anyone use a light cutting type polish, just for very very faint scratches etc. All my basses are in very good condition and I'm very easy on my basses too, but a used bass will get some light marks as we all know. So can anyone recommend something that's not too abrasive but is good for general polishing.

Agreed!
Is the short scale baron sold that he taken I kid not an angle grinder to the bridge..... For intonation LOL!
Here it is. Check out the bridge. I love it when he puts a cheap "hot" rail pickup in things too lol. Was looking on eBay and someone was selling one of his creations and described him as a master luthier! How does he still have 100% feedback. I need answers.
