1. Had a good look tonight - all pick up springs are in place and the thread is there as the screw goes in perfectly without the pick up and does not pull out which was my worry. Looks like superglue is the only option!
Put a dribble of super glue on the thread, it will come out if you need it to no problem, that said I haven't had that problem. Are the pickup springs in place?
2. I had that exact problem on a Sterling I had a few years ago but have to say that it is not apparent on the two that I have now. What is obvious though is that on the pre EB when the screw in the pick up come loose and it angles up at the E string then the bottom end is boosted massively so I would definitely suggest angling the pick up to be closer to the string on the G side and that should help.
Ok! Good luck with it! As to my problem, both of my rays aren´t balanced from string to string... The G has no "body" when compared to the E string. On my P-basses or J basses the string balan ce is way more even... I´ve been living with thsi situation since I´ve got the 88 (more than 10 years ago) and I´ve been told that this is normal on these basses... What do you think? Thanks
3. Will have a look at the screws tomorrow and see what is what. I don't think anyone would mind if you post about your problems with your Stingrays here particularly as on of them is pre EB.
I never had any problem whatsoever. I think the best idea is to remove the pickup and see what is causing that problem (after all to put the glue you need to do that.) BTw, is This the best thread to put a problem I have with both of my Stingrays, or should I pur«t it on a diferent topic? Gunsfreddy, as to the springs you really need to take the pickup out. One other thing, do the pickups screws, screw directly to the wood or are there any metal inserts ( I had a Warwick SS2 that one of the metal threads came loose, so tighten the screw was uselles-I had to glue the thread back to the wood)
4. I did think about that but was worried that if I did that I would not be able to adjust it or get it out if I needed to! How do I tell if the pickup springs are in place?
Put a dribble of super glue on the thread, it will come out if you need it to no problem, that said I haven't had that problem. 5. Anyone ever had a problem with the screws in the pickup coming undone? By the end of a rehearsal one of them has come so loose that the pickup has raised up so much that it nearly touches the strings which is a real pain. Not sure whether to replace the screw or what!!
 6. Been using my '77 a lot recently and it sounds fantastic - such an awesome tone!
 7. Probably going to be ash Andy. Should get some fingerboard pics very soon.
Nice top Mark, what you got underneath ash, alder.shes going 2 be a beaut, cant wait 2 see the end result.
8. I thought it was English Burr Walnut!!
 9. Just embarking on a new GB bass and this time it is a Rumour 5 string. This is the wood that I have chosen for the body facing - should be able to post some fingerboard pics soon.
 10. How do you find the BBE Sonic Stomp? Not seen one before and looked it up on the web and have to say that I am a little sceptical about their claims!
Hi! So.. it's Friday night and I've been for a noodle with my new board set up for 2013.. powered by the Carl Martin pro power.. It's been loadsa fun putting this board together (Pedaltrain 2) over the last 6-months, and almost everything, except the H.O.F, is used/second-hand mainly from on-line auctions.. or given away free *TC Corona Chorus* as part of the promotion for the BH250. There are no passengers and everything is used - but not all at the same time. The chain is; GP12XV preamp > Polytune > EQ-20 > OC-2 > Octave deluxe > MXR Auto Q > Corona > Vortex > H.O.F > Nova Dynamics > BBE Sonic Stomp .. still have GAS for Source Audio SA170 programmable EQ, TC flashback delay, BOSS LS-2 and the MXR M87 compressor.. the Nova Dynamics and EQ-20 eat some serious Ma (600+ between them) and leave a large footprint.. so we'll see what 2013 turns up! 11. Second dibs please if anything goes wrong!
 12. Awesome sound on the Jamiroquai track - a bit off topic but can you let me know what you have the bass settings on and also what the signal chain is to record the video?
 13. I seem to be in the minority on here but I find the BH250 seriously lacking in volum when playing with a band. Don't get me wrong it is a lovely soundng amp and the Toneprint feature is great but the Mark Bass head comes out every time for gigs and rehearsals!
my problem is - i have a feeling that the reidmar's sound is going to be more to my liking, but for the price and portability the BH250 can't really be ignored - the videos on youtube don't really do much for me - can anyone tell me if it it delivers in tone and volume like the reidmar (or even like the GK MB200)?
14. Cool - looking forward to it.
Finally arrived this morning. I'll be playing with it tonight so you may get a 'first impressions' post later on.
15. Try this - I found it pretty useful! There are two installments on the site to go through. http://www.how-to-play-bass.com/songs-sir-duke.html
 16. Did the Sweeper turn up yet? Interested to hear what you make of it when it does.
Just took a punt on a sweeper from WTF ... I wonder what chance of it arriving for Xmas ? Discount code still operating, BTW.
17. I should coco!!
I daren't even try this...
18. I must be doing something wrong with mine! I took it to one full band rehearsal and had to have it at about 3pm and even then it was too quiet so went back to the Mark Bass head very quickly!
I don't think its 250 at 8 ohms, but it's still plenty loud enough. I use mine with a single RS212 and it holds its own against a drummer and a guitarist through a Marshall combo, I have the master vol at about 1pm. I'm sure you are aware but the head only has a single Speakon outlet, so make sure your HB cab has one or get a suitable cable to fit And get one before the end of the year to claim a free chorus pedal, even more of a bargain!
19. Agreed, those tunes were a massive part of my childhood Christmases and hearing them again every year brings back so many fantastic memories and nostalgia about when life was better/simpler for all. I just hope they end up meaning the same for my kids. I also really like the classical piece Lt Kije which Greg Lake used in I Beleive in Father Xmas.
 20. No it won't I am afraid, you will need to run 2 x 8 ohm cabs to get the full 250w at 4 ohms.
Total noob question here; I plan on using this head with a Harley Benton (budget) 2x10 at 8ohms. Will this still give me the full 250 watt output? Pretty sure it will as the head accepts anything above 4ohms, just need some clarification. Tidy.
21. Are you sure - last time I read that thread he loved it!
He sent it back soon after. I pretty much never use a compressor, despite having 3. I do keep an EMMA TransMORGrifier on my pedalboard just to even out some effects craziness at times, but for normal playing I never use one. Out of the ones that I've tried, the EMMA is my favourite.
22. You need to come up at xmas for an afternoon of Stingray indulgence!!
About 4 mts ago mark,yeh no probs mark,love 2 get my hands on your classic 5,shes a beaut.off 2 work 2 pay for her.speak soon bud.ATB ANDY.
23. I used to be in a band with their keys player!!
 24. Was this a recent purchase Andy? If so I think I need to see it and compare to my '77!
i bought the natural 77 off Anthony, shes a beaut, i tried the black one, nice bass.picking the 3 basses up ,there were all very different, neck dim, body weights.i had an 80/81stingray made by charvel jackson,4 plate through body, nat ash.bloody heavy, great sound.wish i never sold her,..
25. I am not surprised - at our rehearsal it was struggling and I did not feel that adding a second cab to get the 4ohm output would have made much difference either. They are great for an accoustic type gig or home practice use though.
