  1. As a 14 year old metal head I was desperate not to get a fender copy. Luckily I found a Hohner Rockwood LX100B
  2. If you buy the £3000 version it comes with a free Custom Shop bass
  3. It’s a cool tool kit and I’m very grateful. My Fender Custom Shop one is very cool tool kit too (and I’ve added to it a fair bit) so it’s good to have options.
  4. Slightly off topic and with no G strings involved I spoke to Strings & Things (UK MusicMan distributor) recently and they said that if I register my Old Smoothie online for warantee I’ll get an extra few months and free gift in the post. The free gift turned out to be a nice tool kit worth about £46 (eek!). Nice touch, very impressed, big thanks to the Gentlemen at S&T 👍
  5. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Gus tonight, he bought my Jazz Bass and I reckon if time had allowed we could easily have chatted until the early hours. It was a super smooth sale, great communication and without a hitch. Pleased to meet you Gus 👍
  6. Nah mate, that’s early 90’s Encore tort
  7. Some quick pics of my 66 P Bass tort
  8. Yup, they are so versatile, that for me, they were too versatile... So many great sounds that I couldn’t stop fiddling, so I went back to a single H just to keep focus on playing and not twiddling! That said, I wouldn’t bet against owning one again in the future, probably a 2018 Special
  9. For me, the MusicMan USP is simply that’s it’s a MusicMan! It’s got quality, style, history and THAT sound. There are plenty of great basses out there inspired by MusicMan and they are of top quality, but they dont’t have the USP I particularly want. YMMV.
  10. Trust me, with all that check action you don’t even notice it! 😁
  11. They might be LaBella low tension flats, they have black silks and are very smooth.
  12. Absolutely, one of those rare signature basses that actually is pretty much built just like the one the guy plays! (Erm, or played).
  13. I think the quality of the high spec MM’s is excellent (e.g. PDN’s, Ltd Ed and classics) and up there with the similarly priced hand made basses I’ve tried/owned. The new Specials look as though they’ll be more high spec than the already pretty good current SR4’s, Ikm keen to see if they really are much better in the flesh. Hand made isn’t a definer of quality, or an indication that it’d be better than a similarly priced factory built.
  14. Like those nutters that list Old Smoothies for sale 🤭
  15. That didn’t take long... https://www.talkbass.com/threads/2018-ebmm-stingray-special-4h-charcoal-sparkle-yes-one-of-the-new-ones.1354375/
  16. I had the exact problem, finding the body/neck balance peculiar and wondering why they put the thinner neck on the bigger body? I found the right Jazz two years ago kind of by accident, its a 2015 USA Std (though not all of these models feel like mine), and that’s after having owned an original 1964 and a fair few custom shops. They were all excellent basses but the balance and feel of my current Jazz is perfect for me and quite different to the majority. Though I fancy a LPB Jazz too, I doubt I’ll be selling my current one unless it’s equal in feel.
  17. Withdrawn, whilst I come to my senses 🤔
  18. That’d match my other Ray nicely. 👍
  19. Yes, it was a Leo Fender prototype. Explained here:
