  1. My old Tu-2 too 😣
  2. Boss can be real tone suckers ☹️
  3. I like the MXR Custom Shop version of the Micro Amp, great EQ if you need it. Not perfectly transparent, but the little it adds to the tone is very nice to my ear.
  4. If it's the passive version it'll be slightly less then the prices quote above. Check to see if it's got a battery cavity in the back.
  5. Loving the all black HH and charcoal H, Not loving the prices though. Glad I’m not after one otherwise the plastic would take quite a beating this weekend.
  6. Listening to Alice In Chains again has given me Spector NS-2 GAS 🙄
  7. Cheers Gus, really pleased to hear that all’s well with your Jazz. Nice one pal 👍
  8. Exactly this All I really need is a P and a Ray, so my J’s come and go. I love J’s, but just don’t need one. I believe that if I ever get a J again, it’ll be buying back a specific old one of mine - but only because the wife loved the colour and misses it!
  9. Happy days, twin pack on the way. Cheers @casapete
  10. Totally agreed you made the right move for what you said you wanted, a great hi-if pickup - I was just praising split coils as a good choice amongst many others
  11. My Fralin Dual Coils (split) had an output similar to my P Bass, but still very much sounded like a Jazz Bass should, just with a little less treble which worked really well given the bass itself and my preference for that anyway.
  12. Glad to hear they came out The strings below are great for those that lean more towards rounds
  13. I had the Fralin Dual coils when I last owned a Jazz Bass, for my taste they were exceptional. But then I've always been a huge Fralin fan, having used their P Bass and regular Jazz pickups over the years. Edit - I've also had Nordstrom pickups in the past, they are more hi-fi to my ears, whereas the Fralin are more vintage and growly.
  14. Same thing can be found on this bass... http://andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=1416
  15. It might be worth asking the Gallery if there is a slight twist in the neck up there? It’s quite possible. Do you think you maybe need to try some softer rounds?
  16. Possibly, its from a time when the truss rod was too tight and the strings were more 'flat' to the board? That could explain why it's up by those frets. That's all I can come up with. Anyway, a gorgeous bass like that should be wearing flats
  17. Here’s that’s about £1080. Vintage prices vary and a ‘correct’ price is subjective, some will be priced higher and some lower. If you love the bass, then all’s good, that’s all that matters.
  18. All looks good to me. The pot code is a Fender code, the code to date it is on the other half of that base. Even if it didn’t have a neck heal stamp I personally wouldn’t worry.
  19. There’s many mid 70’s Fenders without the stamps, so I wouldn’t worry. From the pictures there’s nothing that stands out as suspicious. Would be nice to the see the pickups and under the guard though, just in case. Because of the bolt on neck, some old Fenders can become Partscasters, but for me it’s not a worry on a refinished bass like this because the parts look right for the age, given the pics available.
  20. Ooh, that’s a can of worms question for a bass forum! I think I’ve been through more P Basses that I’ve had hot dinners. In your situation, I’d be looking at a 50’s MIM P Bass or a used MIA P Bass, but that’s just because I like a Fender. The Yamaha is great, or a second hand Tokai. Limelight etc. Something like this one in the link is great value, and is what I’d buy in your situation. The only one on your list I’d avoid is a Std MIM, though I’d happily use one anytime, it’s just that if you can spend a little extra I believe it’ll go along way with the right bass.
  21. To sell or not to sell, that is the question...

For sale it is... needs must. Its a stunning bass, but not an essential one I 'need' to own :(

  22. I used to have a stunning Modulus, beautiful layering on those necks, would make good looking luggage too 🤣 That TB thread is breathtaking, serous skills and a stunning bass. My favourite quote was “I don't understand a single one of the steps described. This is like alien technology to me”
  23. And another thing, the carbon fibre and design are so lovely, I may just need a carbon fibre headless...
