  1. There's been a couple of Genz-Benz Streamliner 900s on here recently for around £400. One of them'll do you proud. Bags of headroom and plenty of options. That's what I use with my BF gear.
  2. Hi there. Welcome to BC.
  3. In my current band I only had three rehearsals before the first gig - all without a drummer. Rehearsing without a drummer is still better than not rehearsing at all IMO.
  4. Sweaty gig in The Ship in Mevagissey, with four of us in a space the size of a shoe box. Went down well though
  5. These are great! I have one myself - covers a lot of territory.
  6. Pretty average gig at the British Legion in Fowey last night. Crap weather so not many people out and about. Godawful hour's drive back home through pea-soup fog, howling wind and driving rain....
  7. Looks fantastic! I have a MIJ Geddy already, but I'm intrigued by this....
  8. Welcome to Basschat, dude. You're among the elite now
  9. I use mine with a BF Big Twin II. My mate has a Streamliner 600 which he uses with a BF Compact. Cracking rig too!
  10. These amps are awesome!
  11. "Oi mate, your band's sh*t!" "Why are you still here then?"
  12. OK Thanks guys. I might just have to give 'em a go and see what happens.....
  13. Hi all, just added a Squier Jazz bass to the herd with the intention of pimping the living daylights out of it for the hell of it. I was wondering if any of you good folks out there have used Bare Knuckle jazz bass pickups and what you thought of them. I know many guitarists who rave about Bare Knuckle guitar pickups so I was wondering if the same could be said of their bass pups. Failing that, any recommendations of jazz bass pups would be gratefully received. I want plenty of grunt! I hear good things about Nordstrand and Bartolini, but have no personal experience of them. Any info gratefully received! Thanks Rob
  14. Played the Tywarnhayle in Perranporth. We played well, but it was one of those weird crowds who don't clap. Silent as an angel's fart in between songs, but loads of people coming up after and saying how much they enjoyed it.
  15. Good grief... I should be able to hear that from my place!!
  16. Very nice bass, chief! Plenty of fun to be had right there!
  17. Do you reckon the Dalai Lama was more of a Trace Elliot or Ampeg man? Shame Barefaced weren't around then. They would have knocked up a couple of righteous cabs for him.
  18. Somebody is going to get an epic deal here. Cracking basses!
  19. Before the first gig or 2 with a new band, we'll use gigging gear, or if someone's got some new goodies to use. Otherwise, rehearsal room gear will do. Shift work, time constraints etc. an often mean that time playing is more valuable than time schlepping.
  20. Welcome Jak!
  21. These are monstrous - best cab I've ever had by a country mile
  22. I tried a Ric once and didn't like the feel or the tone. The only 2 guys around here who've got them are pick players rather than fingerstyle players. Dunno if that's a coincidence or not, most bassists around here are finger players. *shrug*
  23. Up to 5 now: Stingray HH Stingray H Status Graphite 5 string headless Status Graphite 4 string Fender Geddy Lee Japanese Jazz
  24. Jamiroquai sort of bypassed me first time around, then someone suggested I listened to their bassist. I love his stuff, and I'm growing into the whole band now. Not quite what the OP was about I guess, but yeah.
