  1. Hi chatters! I have decided to sell my mayones jabba due to a recent shuker purchase! These basses are very high quality hand made in Poland. This is a stunning looking and sounding jazz. It weighs 10.25lbs. It's fitted with the excellent sadowsky preamp that can run active or passive. The action can be set very low, I've also attached a link to the specs etc. I've spent a fair bit this year ordering black hardware and a custom pearl pick guard direct from mayones which I think really sets this bass off. The only thing I haven't changed is the neck ferrule bushes as I couldn't get them! There are a fair few scratches etc to the body from use but nothing that affects how it plays. It will come with all the original chrome hardware as well. I don't have a case for it but if postage was the only option we can sort something so message me. Not really after trades as I need to put some money back in the bank 😁 any more questions message me, cheers! https://mayones.com/page/jabba-classic-5-pre-2018-discontinued/#gallery-13-2

  2. They did a 'pro' series that were assembled in Indonesia I believe and then final setup was done in California. Yeah I love this bass, it is so comfortable to play and does everything and more that a jazz should do!
  3. Sorry for the delay, she weighs 9.5lbs
  4. Bought a Shuker off Lawrie this week. He was kind enough to travel an hour and meet me half way making the deal even easier. It's a stunning bass and I couldn't be happier with another brilliant basschat transaction. Thanks again mate!
  5. It's a stunning bass! 😁
  6. Another beauty of a bass for sale. Decided to put my xotic jazz up for sale since I've moved to mainly playing 5 strings these days. This is the proper made in Japan xotic. I love this bass and it's one of the nicest to play and best sounding jazz basses I've played. The preamp is very flexible and it has a great passive tone control that works in both active/passive mode. All the specs are online. These basses are fantastic and IMO as good as any USA made jazz. There are a few small marks/scratches from normal use, a few very slight marks on the rear of the neck I assume from a previous owner wearing a ring (these don't affect playing and are very hard to notice) and some of the pots could do with some electrical cleaner - ill try and do this before she goes. Comes with the excellent xotic protec bag and spec sheet. Collect or meet up preferred but can ship at buyer's cost and risk. Thanks!
  7. She's coming in at 10.75lbs
  8. Hey folks, I have decided I need to sell a few as my idea to have two basses has somehow ended up having 5 with a potential new arrival as well! Its a yamaha BB1025X. 34" scale, narrow nut circa 43mm with 18mm bridge spacing. Volume, tone, pickup selector- simples. These basses are easily one of the best value for money basses you can buy and I may withdraw if I decide which of the others to let go. It plays great and has an amazing passive tone. Massively punchy, far more so than my active mayones/lakland. There are light scratches to the back and scuffs to the pick guard from popping etc, however they are very hard to photo due to the shiny blackness. It comes with a very nice yamaha padded bag. The strap locks will be removed and original buttons refitted. I would prefer to meet or collection however I have a box and bubble wrap so can post at buyers cost/risk. No trades please and I'm not looking to move on price. Thanks
  9. Spotted this earlier, bargain price for someone local to it! Well worth it even at the BIN price https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bass-Collection-Jive-bass-guitar-/255160734394?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  10. I've found my preference is both pickups on, tone rolled back slightly. However the P pickup does sound fantastic!
  11. So having owned plenty of basses I've never had a yamaha, until now 😁. Thought I'd take a chance on this bb1025x as I've always wanted to try one. A fresh set of rounds later and I love it! Always been more of a jazz bass guy but figured I needed some sort of P in my life. This has got such a huge passive tone! The neck is a lovely satin finish and it plays great! It has definitely held its own against my other more expensive basses so happy days. I play my other basses in passive usually anyway however the simpleness of the bb's controls is so refreshing. Anyway, terrible picture incoming..
  12. Evening basschatters. One fortnight ago on a rainy Wednesday eve I had abit of time to myself in which I decided to browse the bassdirect website to look at some dirty pictures. A day later this arrived at my door... Not sure how that happened. After some hours of noodling I have come to a final decision that I prefer more "traditional" style basses ie my mayones and lakland. This means I'm sadly looking to move it on to a new home. It's a 2006 Warwick thumb 5 dirty blonde Ltd edition. Made for one year only these are stunning looking basses and obviously being a warwick the build quality is about as good as it gets! It plays great and is in very good condition with a few minor marks (I will get more/better pictures tomorrow daytime). It's light weight around 8.8lbs and comes with a warwick rockbag. Collection/meet up to an hour away preferred but I have the gig bag and box so could wrap it and post but would be fully at buyers risk. Not looking to move on price as these are very hard to get, not really after trades however I'm only human so feel free to ask. Thanks!
  13. Very good price and IMO the best colour combo on these!
  14. Yeah the brass nut is a great upgrade! It is very light around 8.8lbs I believe. 😂 If I decide to sell I'll give the good people of basschat first refusal don't worry
  15. Yeah I think it was listed for about half an hour before I pulled the trigger 😂. I'd say it sounds very different to a regular 5 string thumb from online videos however I haven't owned one myself. The p pickup gives a great p bass type tone (kind of obvious lol) but it has a very full and punchy sound with both pickups on (my preference). I think I still prefer my lakland tone however this one is piece of art!
  16. Just took delivery of this beauty from bassdirect. Stunning looking instrument 😁
  17. Both my 5 string jabbas have been just over 10 lbs, the schaller tuners make them neck heavy as well. The later ones are generally lighter and use hipshot tuners which are much lighter than the schallers
  18. I have had two mayones jabba classic 5 basses (still have one) and they are amazing basses. Agreed new they are expensive like many other high end instruments and the build quality is top class. "A" being better than "B" is completely down to personal preference in terms of tone and what neck specs etc that you prefer. I love the very flat fretboard radius and the solid b string. I also have a USA lakland 55 14 which until I got my mayones was my holy grail 5 string. The mayo is easily on par with the lakland but again, preference as they are very different beasts. Definitely if you get chance give one a try
