  1. So having owned plenty of basses I've never had a yamaha, until now 😁. Thought I'd take a chance on this bb1025x as I've always wanted to try one. A fresh set of rounds later and I love it! Always been more of a jazz bass guy but figured I needed some sort of P in my life. This has got such a huge passive tone! The neck is a lovely satin finish and it plays great! It has definitely held its own against my other more expensive basses so happy days. I play my other basses in passive usually anyway however the simpleness of the bb's controls is so refreshing. Anyway, terrible picture incoming..
  2. Evening basschatters. One fortnight ago on a rainy Wednesday eve I had abit of time to myself in which I decided to browse the bassdirect website to look at some dirty pictures. A day later this arrived at my door... Not sure how that happened. After some hours of noodling I have come to a final decision that I prefer more "traditional" style basses ie my mayones and lakland. This means I'm sadly looking to move it on to a new home. It's a 2006 Warwick thumb 5 dirty blonde Ltd edition. Made for one year only these are stunning looking basses and obviously being a warwick the build quality is about as good as it gets! It plays great and is in very good condition with a few minor marks (I will get more/better pictures tomorrow daytime). It's light weight around 8.8lbs and comes with a warwick rockbag. Collection/meet up to an hour away preferred but I have the gig bag and box so could wrap it and post but would be fully at buyers risk. Not looking to move on price as these are very hard to get, not really after trades however I'm only human so feel free to ask. Thanks!
  3. Very good price and IMO the best colour combo on these!
  4. Yeah the brass nut is a great upgrade! It is very light around 8.8lbs I believe. 😂 If I decide to sell I'll give the good people of basschat first refusal don't worry
  5. Yeah I think it was listed for about half an hour before I pulled the trigger 😂. I'd say it sounds very different to a regular 5 string thumb from online videos however I haven't owned one myself. The p pickup gives a great p bass type tone (kind of obvious lol) but it has a very full and punchy sound with both pickups on (my preference). I think I still prefer my lakland tone however this one is piece of art!
  6. Just took delivery of this beauty from bassdirect. Stunning looking instrument 😁
  7. Both my 5 string jabbas have been just over 10 lbs, the schaller tuners make them neck heavy as well. The later ones are generally lighter and use hipshot tuners which are much lighter than the schallers
  8. I have had two mayones jabba classic 5 basses (still have one) and they are amazing basses. Agreed new they are expensive like many other high end instruments and the build quality is top class. "A" being better than "B" is completely down to personal preference in terms of tone and what neck specs etc that you prefer. I love the very flat fretboard radius and the solid b string. I also have a USA lakland 55 14 which until I got my mayones was my holy grail 5 string. The mayo is easily on par with the lakland but again, preference as they are very different beasts. Definitely if you get chance give one a try

I've got a Xotic XJ-1T 4 and it's such a lovely and easy to play super JAZZ! Amazing basses and this colour is awesome! GLWTS
  10. The specification of these is crazy for the money! Amazing value GLWTS
  11. Bump! I'm heading to Milton Keynes Tuesday morning for a few days so could take this with me if anyone that way is interested?
  12. Massively regret selling that beast, would buy it back in an instant!
  13. Lovely looking P! Do you have any full frontal (cheeky!) and full rear pictures?
  14. Decided to see if anyone fancies my John east preamp which is currently fitted in my bass collection jazz. It's the flat response version and is in perfect working order. A few very light scratches from general use visible up close but other than that a brilliant preamp. Comes in original box and will include postage in the UK. Thanks!
  15. *I am now selling this WITHOUT the east preamp as I've sold it separately* After a couple of recent investments in other basses, I think it's time to move a few on. This is my bass collection jive bass in crimson. It's in excellent condition and plays so easily. Comes with the neck pickup chrome cover (not pictured). Not after any trades. Not really able to post as I have no box or case so meet up or collection, happy to travel about an hour from Gosport if it helps. Anything else give me a message. Thanks!
  16. Here we have a squire vm jazz bass looking for a new home. These basses punch way above their price point and all specs can be found online. It's in excellent condition with the only real marks being at the end of some of the fret ends in the black binding there is scuffs, I assume from a previous owner filing the fret ends. This is only visible up close and doesn't affect how it plays. Other than that she plays and sounds like a good jazz should! Not after any trades, happy to travel up to an hour from Gosport as long as its paid for or a deposit paid first. No gig bag included unless I happen to find one. Would make an excellent first 5 string or backup! *sorry for my naf pictures, I will get some better ones in the daylight!
  17. Hi mate, I assumed they were genuine however after checking the stores feedback it seems they have had other people say they are fake! This probably explains why they didn't feel great. I've withdrawn them and have contacted ebay!
  18. Almost new elixir bass strings. These are 45/65/85/105/130. I fitted them to my lakland 55 14 so are cut for a 35" scale 3+2 layout. They were fitted and used for about half hour before I refitted the slinkies as I just prefer the feel. Postage included to uk
  19. If I hadn't bought an xotic jazz this week I'd be in the car now on the way to you! That's an amazing price for this and I love the colour.. Hmmm how many basses is too many?!

    SOLD

I've got a fretted one of these with a east preamp in, they're such good basses especially for the money!
  21. I've had three 4402's and a 5502 Korean skyline and currently have a USA 55-14 - all amazing basses. The difference between them I'd say is almost all in the neck feel and I love the maple fret markers! I got all mine second hand and paid about 60% more for my 5514 on top of the 5502 price. For me it was well worth the extra and I only sold the 5502 to buy the 5514 as I love the way the neck feels, tonally they sound very similar
  22. To be honest my thoughts on which I prefer change weekly. One week the pickguard is the best thing since sliced bread, a week later I'm in favour of ye olde natural!
