How long do you actually spend rehearsing?
CamdenRob replied to Roger2611's topic in General Discussion
Don't really play a whole lot outside of rehearsals to be honest... I wish I could, but there just aren't enough hours in the day. -
Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
The Progressive bass, no problems, Found that pre-amp and pickups are fantastic. The neck is P chunky which is fine for me. Good slap tone. I want a 5 or a 6 string one of these for Gospel! Very high output, but clean. Keeping the progressive but giving it a full on refinish and setup. Lightweight as well.
I had a progressive too and thought it was an excellent bass.... I thought the PJ4 I had was even better aside from the horrendous pickguard. The dekos I have had have made me realise just how good the HB stuff really is. -
'Banter': Yeah, I'd used it carefully with the 'a level of', because it's a sliding scale from affectionate ribbing to pointed barbs, but it can be a good thing. I think what you have seen, Rob, is bullying being passed off as something else.
Yeah your right... nothing wrong with having a bit of a laugh with your mates but some of the "banter" i've seen on the building sites is nothing short of bullying... all that pseudo masculine alpha male crap, there is no place for it - either in the workplace or in a band.
-
I'd say it's very healthy to have a level of banter in any group,
urgh... that word makes me shiver... The amount of bullying I've seen of people at work that falls under the catagory of "banter" is unbelievable.

Despite my aversion to gold hardware... been gasing for one of these...
I recently sold my Ric 4003 Blue Boy so down to just the eighteen at the moment.
Quite right too... more than eighteen would be ridiculous...

Music is my hobby and I'm more than happy to play for nothing

Apperantly its shield soap green...

Liking that very much... Then again I like the vast majority of Sandbergs output.
-
Serious left hand cramp issues at rehearsal yesterday... time to have a look at my technique I think
-
They sound like a right bunch of a**holes to be honest... I'd not be putting up with that, plenty of other covers bands out there
-
I popped in wunjos yesterday for a quick look around... Was told by both members of staff that I could pick up anything I wanted to try. They did have a nice selection of the new ibanez basses at the back, the ones with the nordy pickups and they looked fantastic instruments, couldn't believe the price tag on them for the quality.
-
I looked into this a while ago and struggled to find many pickups that were a direct replacement... The originals were a bit of an odd size and most replacements would have required routing. I grew to quite like the stock pickup and tonepump in the end.

Lovely bass but, nope, I just can't live with...
With all the things wrong with that bass, as a great favour, for £10 I'll help you out and take it away... how's that? I can't say fairer than that, can I? (It's a good lookin' bass, honest, and you like it... nuff said.)
£15? I absolutely love it and I couldn't be happier, but it won't be to everyones taste and I fully understand that.. it has six strings for a start! It's being reviewed in BGM next month and I'm dying to know what they thought of it -
Aargh! Yes. That one also features another pet hate, i.e. through-necks visible as contrasting stripes down the middle of the instrument.
Yes I did think that might arouse your disgust! I think I'm in a minority in that I find modern coffee table basses attractive and I also love the Leo shapes and designs. -
So not only do you have the excitement of wondering what made it a deko, you get to ask " have you got my bass ? " in various languages. Loads of fun awaiting you Monday Rob
Indeed Although being English I have an embarrassing inability to speak anything else, so I just use the time honoured English bloke abroad method of communication... I'll ask if they have my bass... then I'll ask again only louder and slower.... then if that fails I'll go to the final stage which is asking again, louder and slower and in the accent of the country I estimate they are from... -
Looks in good nick, collection only from London. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5422f182da I am half on the lookout for an early passive Pro, but I'd like one with the two pickups.. the bridge pickup is such a huge part of the tone I get from my Wals I wouldn't want to be without it. ... also on Gumtree at £2500

I keep all my gear immaculate.. wipe everything down after every gig, rehearsal or practice session... can't stand gunk...

Reckon mine will arrive Monday sparking the usual fun and games where I try to find out which random person down my street who I've never met has signed for it... -
Yeah the Corvette I have isn’t especially roomy. I think the factory spacing is 16.5mm; mine is adjusted as wide as the bridge will allow (without pushing the outer strings too close to the edge of the ‘board) at around 17mm or so. To be honest, I’ve only really started noticing string spacing since practicing slap. It doesn’t seem to make a great deal of difference when I play fingerstyle - I’m consistently sloppy no matter what the spacing is at the bridge
Yes sadly it was too tight for me... which is a shame as it sounded awesome. It was one of the $$ ones in a turquoise finish. I always keep half an eye out for a four string version.
-
Yeah it would put me off definitely... on a sixer the difference from 18mm to 17mm would be 5mm across the range between the B and C strings, drop that to 16mm and its a whole centimeter difference.
-
Its generally the spacing at the bridge which is the issue... I find if it's too tight (less than 18mm) I keep catching other strings with my plucking hand. I had a corvette fiver once that must have been less than 16mm and it was far too tight for me. I know some ibanez basses that are down at 15/14mm.
I opted for the post gig Biegel
There is a super cheap bagel place down there somewhere... can't remember the name of it but it's pretty good.
