I would really like them if it wasn't for that twatt!
They're playing in Leeds tomorrow at Damnation
Yeah I noticed they had a new album out when I looked them up a few months back for the first time in years and years... I still remember when Slaughter of The Soul came out when I was 14... I stopped buying metal albums for about 4 years after that as I couldnt see the point in listening to anything else! -
Can't stand Cradle of Filth, even though a friend was their drummer for ages (Adrian from At The Gates, The Haunted and now in Paradise Lost). Danni Filth is an utter bellend, having seen him acting like an arse at an after show party for an awards thing. That said, I did once rest my drink on his head to detract from his "do you know who I am" chatting up technique when he turned up at the Slimelight once - I'm 6'4" and he's so short that he makes an ideal place to prop up a pint glass.
You're mates with Adrian? At The Gates we're my world when I was a teenager... -
I've never really tried in a band situation... I assume I'd be rubbish
What about kiss? They have 2 twats( Simmons and Stanley )
That's a whole seperate thread... Oasis had two twats as well. -
I know little about how pickups work so this is probably a ridiculous suggestion, but would the E string being nearer the center of the pickup make any difference? I know Wal pickups have a pair of pole pieces per string and that contributes substantially to their unique tone, but would it make any difference on an ordinary pickup?

Think these are around £4k new so not too bad a price I love the look of the fretless version;

I don't leave the clip on tuner on all the time... I just pop it on to tune then take it off again. Surely no-one leaves it permenantly attached to the headstock?
-
Can't say I've noticed a huge difference with basses I've owned... Perhaps the extra wood in the neck (especially with a sixer) affects the tone?
Danni Filth. Twat.
Indeed... I was unfortunate enough to meet him a few times in my younger days. The original guitarist and keyboard player were brothers and hung out in similar circles to me and my mates. They were nice guys actually... but not Dani... -

ah black metal shenanigans... I had a mate called Black Metal Steve when I was about 17 who tried to burn down a church in colchester... only when he got up on the roof it fell through and he broke both his legs.... ended up being held together with metal plates for a couple of years... .. think he's an accountant these days. -
Would get me out of jail if for some reason the TU-2 let me down.
I don't think a TU-2 has ever let anyone down... amazing reliability boss gear.
I'm a big fan of black metal, but do struggle sometimes with the political outlook and illegal actions of some of the bands, Burzum, Emperor and Darkthrone particularly.
Has much happened in the Black Metal scene for the past 20 years? I saw Emperor at the LA2 back in the late 90s and they were awesome... I guy I jammed with a few times at collage is now in Mayhem. .. love a bit of black metal. -
Aren't we currently doing this on another thread... ... oh well... I likes em anyway

Just the one... a TC clip-on. It's great and has aided me in my quest to carry round as little stuff as possible...

I think that the proliferation of twats in music is just an exposure thing really... there are just as many twats in regular life but it's easier to ignore them as they do not have a platform from which to bestow their twatery upon us. ... also Morrissey clearly wins this contest... 1st prize in the twat contest.. well done that man. -
When you've taken your bass playing as far as it gonna go?

I don't think I've got any "technically" "better" since I was about 15... -
That looks absolutely awesome.... Wonderful balance on Sei basses. Martin is IMO is one of the finest builders out there. I love everything about Sei basses, the build quality, the styling, the playability, the tone. They are truly excellent.

The Foo Fighters - are they THAT good?
I remember a 5 hour gig with my Mk1 WAL being painful! I don't know what it weighed, but it was significantly heavier than my 76 P bass. That was late 80's when my back was also significantly younger!
a 5 hour gig...

Being the "house" band at a jam night. What does it involve ?
the odd singer/songwriter on acoustic guitar, who generally plays pretty rubbish songs what they wrote
This is 90% of the London music scene at the moment... for every proper music venue that closes down, three vegan ethnic peace cafes open up with a tiny stage in the corner, from which a bearded man softly whinges about something or other over a few chords... -
If i had all the hours spent searching BC and online music shops into bass practice hours - I would be Victor Wooten!! Oh well... back to the classifieds...
Well yes but I can search BC / online music shops on the sly at work... I think if I sat here with a bass it would be a bit obvious I wasn't 100% focused.

Good stuff It's always good to be happy with your gear / tone. You're right about worrying about your gear getting nicked too. One of my bands is talking about some dates in Europe next year and I'm in two minds as to whether to take my Wals... I desperately want to as they are a massive part of my sound, but I'm just not sure about the flying thing and then I'd be worried about them getting nicked. They are insured but no-one really knows if instrument insurance is actually any use until it's too late. I think I might just buy a cheapie sixer out there and use that
-
Always used D'Addario Prosteels... thinking of trying some nickles out again on my fretted basses though as I love the tone on fretless. My go-to brand.

Supply all the gear for everyone else to thrash?
